Two new sections come to mind.
'Shameless Plugs' (ala Fear the boot) and 'Gamer Connections' (for people looking for games of any kind or gamers).
Might be good.

Might I suggest the use of sub-forums (I think SMF's default name for them is Child Boards), so that there is less of a need to scroll down 'below the fold'.
I've already collapsed my header (as a bonus I don't have to be reminded how long I've spent here every time) so I can see more of the boards at a glance.

I think all of the sections are collapsible so that is similar to parent/child forums. I think child forums tend to get lost, so I'd like to try it the way it is, but if we really see the need, it can be changed.
I love suggestions for new boards! I think the gamer-finder may be a bit premature for us right now, but definitely something to keep in mind. Shameless plugs however is doable!
Keep 'em coming!

Depends on if you are paying for each individual board. It is also something that may get more people to find these boards when they are looking for a gamer/game.

The board software is free. Good point about the visibility though-- anything that can get our name out there is a good thing!

Talk about getting lost. Sub forums at least show up on the main page without getting lost in a collapsed section. I'm sure once the influx of new people settles out, certain boards will show themselves to be leaders of the pack. Those are the boards that should keep their prominence.

A Play-by-post section could help people stick around. When I added one, my forum's membership went up by 133%!
(Of course, I only had three members before that...)

Is it possible to have the notification for new posts in the thread change a little? Maybe bold the word "New" that shows up at the end of thread titles or the like? Just something to differentiate it a little more than the normal thread title, I've passed over it 5 times in the last 10 minutes

A gygaxian dungeon is like the world's most messed up game show.
Behind door number one: INSTANT DEATH! Behind door number 2: A magic crown! Behind door number 3: 4d6 giant bees, and THREE HUNDRED POUNDS OF HONEY! They don't/haven't, was the point. 3.5 is as dead as people not liking nice tits.
Sometimes, their tits (3.5) get enhancements (houserules), but that doesn't mean people don't like nice tits.
Though sometimes, the surgeon (DM) botches them pretty bad...
Best metaphor I have seen in a long time. I give you much fu. Three Errata for the Mage-kings under the sky, Seven for the Barbarian-lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal Monks doomed to die, One for the Wizard on his dark throne In the Land of Charop where the Shadows lie.

i would have to agree. a PbP section would mean i would have no reason to be at WoTC ever again.

to inform you on how right you are, Once when i was in Soviet Russia, i was cried by a river. IT HURTS. Like being thrashed through a giants tiny tear ducts.
EDIT: Also, i would be cool to see what thread a member is viewing in the personal profile.

I'd suggest either making it bold as McPoyo said or using an icon/symbol.

Ooh, I love that game, though I must admit I've never played it on forums. I assume it would use private messages or private threads during "night time." Is that correct?
