Uh, looks like sep 7th, and many people have posted since then, including you, also my solution partially solves the in-game flavor issue.

 No it's not as cool as the airship, fortress, collapsible pit etc... but it can work with uncooperative players and is versatile enough to work in situations were the players broke the economy, like making 10 foot poles for example.

Furthermore my post was not just more fluff or a flame war, but added "value" to the boards by expressing a possible solution, not yet posted on this thread.  It was included not only for the creator of the topic but for other DMs that might have the same problem in the future.
