Notes for myself so I don't have to dig through the other thread:

Puppeteer 2/ Worldthought Medic 1

1/2 RHD stack with class levels for class abilities and manifesting.

Quote from: RoW Rebuild
ECL: 2
HD: 2d4 (Poor BAB, all good saves)  EDIT: One of these counts towards ML by Phaedrus's rules
Str -8
Wis +2
Int or Cha +2

Fine size (+8 attack/AC, -16 grapple, +16 Hide)
Natural weapon: Bite (1d2)
Speed: 5ft

Psi-Like Abilities (Ps): 3/day— detect psionics, mental barrier, psionic charm. Manifester level equals the puppeteer's character level. The save DCs are Charisma-based.

Enthrall (Ex): If a puppeteer is in physical contact with a person it has charmed (the puppeteer establishes a physical hold by means of slender infiltrating tendrils), the subject acts as if dominated. (Puppeteers often seek to charm victims first and then “ask” to be picked up.) So long as the puppeteer remains in contact with the victim, the domination remains in effect, even if a check would normally indicate that the effect is broken.

Hide Mind (Su): A puppeteer cannot be identified as psionic by divination spells or clairsentience powers.

Host Protection (Ex): A puppeteer in control of a host is treated as an attended magic item for the purpose of making saving throws, even if the puppeteer is specifically targeted. A puppeteer that is attached to its host is treated as a creature in a grapple for the purpose of striking at the puppeteer instead of the host (but the host is not considered grappled in turn).

It would be easier to keep track of if we just cut the slug down to 1HD. Mind, that would make you stronger.

If you look at the feats section of my sheet you will see a little-used tag...

How are we generating ability scores?

Not like I'd complain if we're going to make it 1 RHD that gets overwritten by class levels.

I'm working on the fluff now, and will only finish up the gear once big P gets the gear rules consolidated and clarified.

Ok got the fluff done.

I assume I don't get only 1 RHD, the Paragon template, or gestalt levels?

I'll have something up this weekend.

Question: What magic item slots do I have?  Granted, with the whole gaining enhancement bonuses to stats inherently thing that is only somewhat of a concern as I will instead spend most of my items on gearing my "friend".

Another question: If I manifest a power, does it look like it is coming from my "friend"?

Third question: Pictures of puppeteers always show attaching at the neck, but can I attach somewhere a bit more inconspicuous?   Tongue

We're not tracking slots. You just get 5 "continuous" magic items. They can all be little tiny rings that fit on your feelers, if you want.

Basically, yeah. You can suppress displays with a Concentration check, anyway, and there is no penalty for failing to do so. So really there's no reason not to try and suppress them all the time, unless you just want to be flashy.

It's the forehead for you! (Yeah, of course. If your line of effect is blocked, you won't be able to use your Blindsight, though. With your massive hide bonus from being so small, you could easily use your host's clothing as concealment and just hide all the time, though.)

If you really want to avoid notice, you could get a hat of disguise and look like a piece of jewellery.

Just reminding you that PLAs can be augmented up to their manifester level for free, so you can already affect animals, fey, giants, magical beasts and monstrous humanoids, and get +1 DC.

I just added a ton of stuff to the House Rules section. See this post for that info.

I don't really track wealth at all, which I realize is a big departure from standard D&D, but I think keeps things a lot more balanced and easier to use from my point of view. It's not that your characters aren't trading for things and spending money. It's just that I'd rather keep that as an abstraction, than have to count every damned copper piece. I think overall it simplifies things for both you and me, but it may seem a bit complicated at first. I've tried to simplify it as much as possible, though.

If you see something that you just really hate in the house rules, or if you have something you'd like to see included that I haven't mentioned there, I'm definitely willing to listen. The list is ever-evolving.

Also, I sent you a PM, Nick, in case you missed it.

How does "ammunition is not magical" apply once I'm loading mind arrows into a magical bow?

Hmm...  Bang Head You of course still get the scaling bonus to attack and damage mentioned in the magic items section (and proposed by Mr. Sinister). I didn't know you could fire them out of a bow, though. I thought you just shot them out of your hand (or forehead, etc). Is that from a feat somewhere or something? I've never actually seen a Soulbow in play. It should be interesting.

Mostly I want to avoid the whole "I buy an Eager, Warning shuriken, and some tiny hypodermic needles of Spell Storing" problems with the "ammunition is not magical" thing. Also, stacking the properties of magical ammunition with magical ranged weapons can lead to problematic things... like people effectively having a +20 weapon pre-epic, for the price of two +10 ones.

Is it really a big deal to your character build/concept? I guess letting them stack in your case wouldn't be too big of a problem...

Not an issue with Mind Arrows I think, since they don't exactly come in smaller batches than infinite.

I suppose not really, I just thought that Psicrystal weapons were cool. I could dump my bow and get a normal one in that case. One interesting aspect is that Psicrystal weapons can deliver touch powers - I don't know any, but I could manifest one from another character's powers known.

I mentioned putting the mind arrows into a bow earlier and got no response. They're described as being fired from your hand, but the mechanics seem to allow putting them in a normal bow too.

Does the "special materials for free" rule apply to mind blades?

Also, is the Tome version of Point Blank Shot being used?

I guess it's fine if you use a psicrystal bow to fire your mind arrows. I like it thematically. It would basically act as a "focus" to make your mind arrows more powerful.

Yes, you can have your Mind Arrows pierce DR/adamantine or be effectively "made" of whatever special material you want.

Quote

Hmm... we were going to not allow Tome material in general. I am using some feat replacements, but mostly its for things that don't significantly boost your combat output numerically. I'd like to avoid feats that add BAB to damage and similar things. So I think I'm going to have to say no. Sorry.

Do you allow the Ectopic Form feats to retain ability choices off the menu, instead of locking it up because of the feat's features?
