Hello,

I have no idea how any of these works in game, I've read the rules and understand just don't know what "works". The DM is throwing us a very hard challenge and would like a very strong char. Core is the only thing available,

In 3.5 I loved the cleric (buffer) swift blade and sorcerer (polymorph and dragon magic shenigans), Pathfinder I love the paladin and fighter. I like to get in and mix it up so to speak, or nuke them. The con warlock and ranger seem neat as well as the paladin. I'm open to any suggestions and guidance. Still figuring out most of the rules for to hit and dmg. And how do stats come into effect for armor?

OH stats 18 16 14 14 12 10

Y'know ... a core Revisit thread would be a really good idea.
Not enough action around here. Try wizards.

4e Sorc can be a blaster, but it's not core.
Wiz can do what's called Stun-Lock.
Not really blasting, but better.

Warlord is the Buffer you speak of, not Cleric.
Fighter and Pally are still frontliners in 4e.
So you kinda could go with 3 of the 4 "roles" in 4e.
