We all know Yahtzee offers perfectly balanced opinions on everything.
Is this not an attack on the arguer, not the agument itself? I am sure that is a logical fallacy of some kind, but the name escapes me. Perhaps you, as a perfectly unbiased individual, would be kind enough to supply it for me?

Besides that he does not like MMORPGs and didn't join a corporation (Guild).

How fun is WoW without a guild to talk to or people you know playing it?

" A few good yonks ago, I played World of Warcraft for a while because I acquired three months of free play time. (I'd never actually pay for this kind of crap, because even if I did somehow desperately need to lose money, I'd just throw it off a bridge.) But anyway, I begrudgingly felt that World of Warcraft is about as good as MMOs are ever going to get "
-Tabula Rasa review

Evidently, did not join a guild and and had more fun with WOW than other MMOs.

Yhatzee's review while funny are so biased as to be useless, I enjoy watching them but tend to get my reviews elsewhere.

That WoW is more fun without a guild than EVE is without a corp is probably true, however both games are enhanced massively by joining one. To my mind EVE is better designed in several areas.

Graphics
Playerbase (in that eve has all of its players on one server)
Scope (free market trading and open warfare is a large part of eve)
Large scale PVP

WoW has its own positives:
Playerbase (in that you likley know someone who plays IRL)
Storyline
Ease of Play
Short term fun

I do not claim to be unbiased on the matter however I am currently playing neither EVE or WoW (Final Fantasy XI instead) but I am likley to go back to both of them at some point.

If you are not unbaised, then how are you better than Yhatzee?

For all it's worth, EVE and WoW are the two best MMOs currently on the market.

Because I try to be unbiased, yhatzee just plays for laughs.

In my opinion WoW is mediocre, sure its systems were unique when it came out but now with so many copies about it has nothing original left.

...so WoW sucks because it's good?

"I think it's safe to say that very few people will be madly trampling babies under foot to grab Haze on launch day. I know whatever atrophied dregs of enthusiasm I had breathed their last when I glanced at the back of the box and saw that it was an outdoor first-person shooter about space marines. "Whoopsy fucking do," I thought. "I look forward to the vehicle section with horrible steering and spending half the game hiding under a table waiting for my health to regenerate." But then, up popped the hateful little angel on my shoulder, who spends most of his time talking me out of buying a Cornetto every time I pass a 7-11. "Shame on you, Benjamin Yahtzee Sebastian Godzilla Croshaw," spake he. "Have you forgotten Call of Duty 4 already? You should give every game a chance to surprise you or you're no better then those dipshits who never played Mass Effect  but condemned it as some kind of child-corrupting boob stravaganza." I had to concede the point."

So you implicitly agree with every review yhatzee has ever done?
He makes it clear several times that he does not like certain genres of games (MMORPGs and JRPGs mostly) and your expecting an unbiased review on said games?

You'd be surprised. His review of TWEWY was quite fair to the game in question. Generally, even if Yahtzee isn't taking the game as seriously as most reviewers would, he makes valid points. You don't have to agree with him all the time--I don't think there's a single review other than Portal and maybe Psychonauts that I agree with entirely--but he usually provides an accurate assessment of a game along with the snarky humour.

As a fan of yhatzee I have to agree that he does bring up some solid points about the games in question however I feel he is happy to sacrifice the integrity of his reviews for laughs if he has the chance.

Eh, that's a matter of opinion, I suppose. I doubt he takes his job too seriously (and really, it seems to be working), but he does care enough to provide an honest opinion.

"And why are you even reviewing this game when you're on record as a hater of JRPGs and turn-based combat?" Well, bitch, prepare to have your mind blown a second time by the fact that I once enjoyed Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy VI to be precise. I liked how the overarching story could be summarized in less space than a pamphlet. And I liked how the turned-based battles would always come and go very rapidly, as if the game was ashamed to be around them. "

You make it clear several times that you do not like certain games (WOW) and...

Hold on. You know me. You can see where I am going with this one.

The reasoning behind it being that the vast majority of MMORPGs and JRPGs are massive clusterfucks of people ripping off other people's ideas several times over and churning out the same, tired bullshit before stamping a hefty price tag on it.  It's not necessarily a wrong point of view to take, either, because the vast majority of games in both genres really are THAT BAD.  That said, the bit of snark quoted by Solo should show that Yhatzee is aware of the fact that even games coming from the traditionally wretched genres can actually be good.

Bleh, DDO isn't all that hot.  It takes the fine system we know and love as Dungeons and Dragons and turns it into an orgy of button mashing.  If you have a few friends together that you can run dungeons with, then there's really just no challenge to the game.

Also, I have very little respect for the game because players can simply spend money to gain advantage after advantage in-game. At least Blizzard limits their in-game sales to little things like pets.

They made that game.  It was pretty shitty, too.  Worst part about it is that you rarely, if ever, knew just what the fuck was going on.

But I'm not talking about the game, I'm talking about a real life application. This - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1159206/The-headset-mimic-senses-make-virtual-world-convincing-real-life.html

Meets this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2qlHoxPioM (Project Natal)

= A realistic simulated MMOG. I give it ten years at most the way technology is exponentially growing. The only problem is the computing power required to have a massive online virtual world.
