I agree completely that PCs have to mesh. Which just confirms my intention of splitting the party before long, because its current matchup is a consequence of trying to kickstart the game after a lull.
Which means that people should find reasons for talking about what their characters want IC in the campfire thread. It's ok to metagame this a bit, because that enables you to steer a conversation in the right direction - for instance, as a player you know the other guy is shady, but IC you are clueless. So basically, you have to give yourself a slight edge in finding out that you don't want to travel around with this guy, unless you enjoy the conflict.

A gygaxian dungeon is like the world's most messed up game show.
Behind door number one: INSTANT DEATH! Behind door number 2: A magic crown! Behind door number 3: 4d6 giant bees, and THREE HUNDRED POUNDS OF HONEY! They don't/haven't, was the point. 3.5 is as dead as people not liking nice tits.
Sometimes, their tits (3.5) get enhancements (houserules), but that doesn't mean people don't like nice tits.
Though sometimes, the surgeon (DM) botches them pretty bad...
Best metaphor I have seen in a long time. I give you much fu. Three Errata for the Mage-kings under the sky, Seven for the Barbarian-lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal Monks doomed to die, One for the Wizard on his dark throne In the Land of Charop where the Shadows lie.

@McPoyo: ah, so his favourite companions are insects. That explains the life in the desert. @Sohala: don't worry, Mael's perception strongly colours his (internal) comments. OOC, I'm curious how he obtained his melds "with [his] own toil."

Not insects, he eats those.
Also, there's an unhappy history involving a halfling in his past, so...

If it's unclear who the demon is talking to, then it's unclear... But ok, I can elaborate: from an IC perspective, it's a demon talking so his 'enemies' are the party (though he seems to think they will turn into allies later on) and his allies the demons.

Can I work less than 8 hours a day on a magic item? Just thinking about crafting minor objects on the move.

Hmmm... by RAW, I don't know. I don't see much of a problem with it, though.
(You also still have a lot of effects you could transfer to other items.)

Not many suggestions from Mael's teammates... Should I just go ahead with round 11 and the Return of the Big Battle?

Ok, I'm putting a VoP revision up for review. VoP frankly sucks for anything but druids, so... in order to not make it suck... Character Level Benefit 1st AC bonus +4 2nd Bonus exalted feat, Fast healing 1 3rd AC bonus +5, endure elements, 4th Exalted strike +1 (magic), bonus thematic feat (if you are not a full CoDzilla) 5th Sustenance, Resistance +1 6th AC bonus +6, deflection +1, bonus thematic feat (if you are not a full CoDzilla) 7th ability score enhancement +2 8th Natural armor +1, mind shielding, bonus thematic feat (if you are not a full CoDzilla) 9th AC bonus +7, Resistance +2, fast-healing 2 10th Exalted strike +2, (special weapon abilities, pick once per day), Aligned Strike, damage reduction 5/magic, bonus exalted feat 11th Ability score enhancement +4/+2 12th AC bonus +8, deflection +2, greater sustenance, Exalted strike +3 bonus thematic feat (if you are not a full CoDzilla) 13th Resistance +3, energy resistance 5, fast-healing 3 14th Exalted strike +4, freedom of movement, bonus thematic feat (if you are not a full CoDzilla) 15th AC bonus +9, ability score enhancement +6/+4/+2, damage reduction 5/opposite and magic, Exalted strike +5 16th Natural armor +2, bonus thematic feat (if you are not a full CoDzilla), Exalted strike +6 (max +5 enhancement) 17th Exalted strike +7, resistance +5, heal ability damage 1/round and drain 1/hour 18th AC bonus +10, deflection +3, true seeing, bonus thematic feat (if you are not a full CoDzilla), Exalted strike +7 19th Ability score enhancement +6/+6/+6/+2, damage reduction 10/opposite and magic; +5 inherent to 1 ability score, Exalted strike +8 20th Exalted strike +9, energy resistance 15, bonus thematic feat (if you are not a full CoDzilla)
I wrote this up in 10 minutes, and in a hurry, so please check it for obvious problems.

Unless that energy res All, it's too little too late to matter.

Looks better. One of minor gripes over VoP is the weapon selection...I understand you are suppose to be poor, but you can play a bum character with a great sword...
I do have to agree with McPoyo though, the energy resistance should come sooner, dragonscale husk gives 5 fire/cold/acid/electricity at level 5, increasing by 5 every 5 levels.
Maybe tack on mind blank.

IF you put in all those, the bonus feats have to go! The deal is this: I've been thinking that VoP should give virtual item special abilities (slotless) worth about 70-80% of your WBL. But that means lose any specials, and all the feats. I think Thistle still wants some of those feats . And in this game, a non-caster can get lots of abilies with RHD. And casters should never complain, anyway. I rather believe I'm erring on the side of too much.

Halve the feats, I always thought there were to many, until those feats are outside the exalted ones...in which case they actually have a use.
