Chimpanzees exhibit many of the same behaviors in response to the death of a loved one that humans do.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/04/100426131426.htm

I think this is really interesting, and offers yet more evidence that we're not as far removed from our animal relatives as many of us like to believe. Of course, with us sharing 95%+ of our DNA with chimps, this shouldn't really be much of a surprise.

That article was a fascinating read. Given the apparent level of difference in self-awareness, etc. between humans and chimps, it makes me wonder how much of our concepts of "morals" developed before language did. For example: reverence for the dead and ancestor worship could easily have roots in the ages before spoken language, as noteworthy members of the tribe are remembered for their contributions.

Incredibly interesting. I've seen a few documentaries mentioning a similar behaviour from elephants as well. Wonder if dolphins do the same thing, considering their high level of self awareness and intelligence...

Dolphins also have recreational sex (not limited to heterosexuality!), among other things.

I've heard of elephants having homosexual sex as well.
Take that, 'homosexuality is unnatural' camp.

I support homosexuality because lesbians are hawt. Still, I apply this universal thinking to it: "If I support one form of homosexuality, I should support all of them." Considering how lesbians are hawt, I think it's worth it. Smirk

It's also important to support fan service. If women (or men) want man X man, they should be able to have that.

They can have their hot men if I can have my hot women, that's my view. Yes. ^___^

And the things it reflects in, like water or glass, can all be broken, right? Since the moon you see in the sky is just being reflected in the heavens, if you tear open the heavens it's easy to break it~"

Allegedly, they want them to reform so their souls can be saved. From what I've seen of their behaviour, however, I'm not so sure.

I can understand how in the early days homosexuality could be a bad thing because your small group could very well need everyone to reproduce or your will die out but that is not the case now. But today as far as I am concerend it does not harm anyone else if two willing people go at it so it is non of my business and have fun as long as you don't expect me to participate.

And on the subject: http://www.theonion.com/video/scientists-successfully-teach-gorilla-it-will-die,17165/  They used science and stuff. Great advance for all man kind.

I like the message: "Don't support gay marriage? Then don't get one!"

I think that's probably the correct line of thought.

It's already the case that people who don't support other things refuse to participate.

Y'know, like eating meat or paying taxes. :/

I haven't read through the Bible in its entirety or anything, but I've come to understand that most of the anti-homosexual bits are either from the expanded universe or from the same sections that tell you to stone your rebellious teens to death*.
