Hold it in... the rubble isn't solid... neither are those heads. Run onto the rubble and you'll fall right onto the aboleth's dinner plate... or something. Ris-Janna grits her teeth and retreats a little into the shadows, summoning her daggers. A literal shadow falls over her face as she wishes she still had Umbral Awn. Normal magic daggers won't help that much against an insubstantial monster.

Marlowe silently readies his crossbow, leveling it at the spectral form, the point of the bolt weaving between heads as he tilts his head curiously. I doubt that this will kill it, though I can certainly "give it a shot"... The clerk gives a short telepathic chuckle, the corner of his lips twitching.

"Ain't any safer trying to avoid a fight. Lets ace this motherfucker." Xuuvosic prepares to warp local time flow to his advantage (Haste on some allies and Slow on the critter once we have initiative and such).

Sure, why not. Init (1d20+17=24)Do we get a surprise round? Doesn't look like it, but asking never hurts. Also, someone tell RJ via telepathy what the hydra does.

If there's enough time, Raoul will attune his Rod of Empower, Lesser at the expense of his Meteoric Knife. Let's get done with this shit! (1d20+2=16) If not, it's time to give those Bracers of Entangling Blast a whirl once everyone's ready.

No time to change which items are attuned. It takes 15 minutes to attune new items. And no surprise round. Several of you did beat it on initiative, though. Initiative orderUvorix 29 Ris-Janna 24 Siphsis 20 Kaemarah 18 Hannavrah 17 Init for X 17 Cade 17 hydra 1d20+1=17Raoul 16 Oaxool 13 Shlurshech 12 Oggug 11 Marlowe 9 Barghest 5 So do whatever you're all doing.

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?
Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

Xuuvosic distorts the flow of time in the area, and you all feel the world around you slow down... or you speed up. You're not sure which.

Assuming I'm still alive after the hydra moves... Full attack, part one (1d20+15=23, 1d8+10d6+7=38)Full attack, thank you for the Haste (1d20+15=26, 1d8+10d6+1=42)Full attack, the underwhelming conclusion (1d20+10=19, 1d8+10d6+7=44)Those attack rolls should be a point higher because of the Haste, I assume. Now to determine which of those has a chance of hitting! Checks due to incorporeal creature (1d100=22, 1d100=39, 1d100=15)So...either they all work, or they all miss.

As Xuuvosic attempts to slow the time flow around the many-headed apparition, his lackeys begin to strike. The snake-like Siphsis, aided by X's temporal manipulation looses three arrows in the space of a heartbeat, each trailing a thin stream of hissing acid ( Siphsis attacks rolls (1d20+11=23, 1d20+11=25, 1d20+6=13), damage rolls (1d8+6=7 plus 1d6=5 acid, 1d8+6=9 plus 1d6=6 acid, 1d8+6=10 plus 1d6=5 acid). The hag Kaemarah swims forward with sure strokes, then slashes just above the water line with a sword of exotic make ( Kaemarah to hit (1d20+14=25) damage (1d10+9=15)). The Harpy Hannavrah circles near the roof of the chamber singing with an eerie yet unnaturally compelling timbre (Captivating Song DC 21). But Uvorix, still carrying the worm-like Shlurshech simply floats just above the main body of the group, languid yet wary (readying to engulf/release an ally in danger).

As he congeals space/time around the apparition, Xuuvosic notices that it doesn't seem to try and resist his effect as a normal creature would. He thinks its insubstantial nature is due to it being an illusion, rather than an actual spectre. The way his allies attacks all pass through it harmlessly confirm his suspicion.

<<Hmm, looks like more than just the walls here are illusory. I can certainly see how this thing could be used as a deterrent, though. Was this cast recently, or is it perhaps a triggered spell?>>

Sounds like a job for Spellcraft. 20 + spell level Identify a spell that’s already in place and in effect. You must be able to see or detect the effects of the spell. No action required. No retry.

Sounds good, but that's someone else's job. Cade doesn't have spellcraft.

Having been told by his companions the hydra is an illusion, Raoul ceases his initial thought of blasting it into oblivion and sets to examine it.
