I'm playing an archivist/binder/anima mage (divine adaptation ... obviously) who is essentially a divine gish.  I'm looking for some spells to debuff, shut down, control the battlefield, etc., sort of that aspect of the god wizard.  He's pretty well-buffed and his melee prowess, combined w/ handy dragonfire inspiration, takes care of the raw damage aspect in most cases.

Here's the parameters:
  • I'm a 7th level caster
  • Save DCs are not particularly high (+3 mod)
  • All divine sources are available.  But, we don't consider the divine bard (UA) an option for archivist spells.  And, I'd prefer to avoid relying on Anyspell.
  • The character has Imperious Command and Fearsome armor

Here's a few that had occurred to me:
Blinding Spittle
Entangle
Mystic Lash (PGtF)
Web (domain spell)

Thanks for the help

I'm partial to Plant Growth (dru3). Using the Overgrowth function, suddenly enemies have a move of either 5 or 10 feet, over a 100ft radius circle or a few other shapes. You have over a 400ft range on the spell, too. There's no save, so I find it pretty reliable against melee-based monsters who lack flight, etc. I think it's at least good for its level, even if it does lose use over time.

You just need to have some brush and a couple of trees.

More effective from a Druid or Ranger, as they both have Woodland Stride by the time it is available to them.  They move around unhindered.

I am constantly amazed by how many DM's ban Tomb of Battle.  The book doesn't even exist!

Why would you even do this? It hurts my eyes and looks like you ate your keyboard before suffering an attack of explosive diarrhea.

If using Genesis to hide your phylactry, set it at -300 degrees farenheit.  See how do-gooders fare with a liquid atmosphere.

My thoughts exactly.  It's certainly still not bad, though.  Any other ideas?

Bestow Curse (Cleric 3)  Pretty potent debuff, especially if you look into BoVD for more possible uses.  The 50% chance for the target to lose their actions each round is pretty good.
