Hey, Kuro, spellfire says it uses a readied action "like a rod of absorption". In the 3.0->3.5 update the rod no longer requires a readied action to use.
In light of that, a readied action to dimension door if absorption fails seems more sensible.
I assume it doesn't take an action at all? If so, that should be fine. How would Sabot determine success, though?

I'd say success would be "it's getting sucked into my hands by spellfire" and failure would be "oh shit it isn't getting sucked into my hands". Seems like whether or not it was working would be marginally noticeable.

So if it's getting sucked into his hands but it doesn't look like it got that much smaller, he wouldn't teleport?

What sort of check would it be to figure out if we should try to kill it before it explodes, or if we should just high-tail it outta there? >_>
I'm not screwing you guys up based on the dice. It's fairly obvious to anyone with a brain that the skeleton is all but SCREAMING "DEATH THROES ROFL" to you all. So, we defeated it, but regardless of what we do next it's probably gonna 'splode. Gotcha.

The standard D&D solution for it is "when shit hits the fan, beat the living excrement out of it". I like to give my players a chance at stopping it. TML's solution may not be perfect (in that he can't absorb all the energy) but he can at least diminish it a little.

So now I'm confused. There is a chance to stop it (however slight)? I wish I were a few levels higher so I could have used a positive energy 'Healing Breath' to try and counter it some, too. I guess I'll be happy if I survive, and get to use my laser breath again.

Of course you can stop it. It would just take a Disintigrate, or the Knockback feat and a bajilliom Str. Or baleful transposition with a chicken far enough away. Or, heck, WE could just move away.

Hmmm, I'm all for trying to barrage it to death before it can explode, but then I think to myself, "this things about to blow like a truck full of nitro glycerin. Better shoot the nitro before the bomb goes off!" At that point, I remember what a dumb idea it is.
Still, I'll wait on a group decision of "kill it" or "run." I kind of like the style of sabot's idea... also I like our odds since two-face there apparently isn't freaking out, and he/she's on top of it...

Or undead. Or Dr. Hell can put him back together.

Actually, he's on top of ANOTHER skeleton. Given that he started this whole mess, it is very likely he anticipated it might be defeated. Therefore, he might have taken steps to insure it wouldn't do a thing to him when/if it did blow up. Kind of a "joke's on you" moment. The nytroglicerin comment doesn't really apply. It's clearly negative energy. More importantly, you guys should be taking at least a few steps to try and insure MORE collateral damage doesn't happen. Again: Sabot's absorption may not be ideal, but he's very likely at least helping to delay it, which would help you destroy it.

I wish I could've saved the Pink Voice of Doom for later, but there you have it.
Also, have any of you remembered that you can't actually LEAVE Douglas Farm until you get yourselves a 30-minute Plane Shift?

Well, planeshifting is moot if we're reduced to teeny tiny pieces.
Hmm....maybe I should read the IC before the OOC. Well, anyone got any idears?

Hide in the barn. I'm betting it's indestructible. That's what I'm planning to do. I think we can basically handle any number of ghasts for 4 minutes.

Doesn't one of the buildings have a security system which deploys barriers of force? Stop being cowards, you cowards! Let's just take this guy out before it's too late!
Look, see that I am punching the raw energy right out of it! It is not inevitable!
"But you have a feat which was designed for Mary Sues! Have you ever read a Forgotten Realms novel about a mimic who was loved by everyone?"

"But you have a feat which was designed for Mary Sues! Have you ever read a Forgotten Realms novel about a mimic who was loved by everyone?"Why would you expect a low-security facility to have deployable walls of force, exactly? I mean, seriously, the worst they could expect is having a raging bull break out of the pen, and even so it would be relatively easy to contain it (hello calm animals whistle! I'm fine, how are you?). Hide in the barn. I'm betting it's indestructible. That's what I'm planning to do. I think we can basically handle any number of ghasts for 4 minutes.
Consider this: the Baron and hir other giant skeleton aren't fleeing. That means they are probably counting on absorbing the blast. Now ponder on the consequences of that for a little while.

I, Doctor Hell, ensure you that this is all part of my, Doctor Hell's, insidious plot. Because I'm Doctor Hell."

I looked at all my prepared spells and literally the only thing that does is if twoface casts a spell within 40 ft of me I can Close Wounds him/er to force a concentration check.
