Also, please remember to note which defense your powers are attacking against.[/spoiler]

I have no idea what you are talking about. My last post indicates that Magic Weapon targets AC. Maybe it's someone else?  Whistle

Just replied there, but I'll offer my condolences here, too. I'll probably do for Amnon what I did for the others, which will keep him available for the future if you're able to rejoin eventually.

However, that brings the player-count down to three. We can certainly keep going and finish this fight, and I'll probably keep Amnon in the encounter for at least one or two more rounds and just NPC him, but I think I'll have to try and do some recruiting.

Feel free to NPC Amnon.  Just mark everybody, you know how he likes to do combat.   Tongue

Sorry guys, had a hectic time lately, I'll update soon with Amnon's and Ironteeth's turns. IC being down didn't help any either. Rolls Eyes

As you guys can no doubt tell, Calchexxis will be coming on board to fill out the party. I'm hoping that we can keep things up and make some good progress, but that kind of leads me to a specific point: I want to make sure I'm not going to railroad you guys. Just because this first part of the campaign is based out of a published module, I want to make sure you guys feel free to act your characters out, and do what they would do. I'll try to do my best to provide opportunities to expand on what is outwardly obvious, but feel free to make new ones.

I want this to be fun for you guys, so I'll be trying to modify the encounters presented in the module as much as possible to make something that's more actually fun to play in.

@Cal: No problem, I'm just used to playing that way. I'm still not the most experienced DM, but I feel that this way you still have a chance of hitting some of the targets in case the first roll doesn't hit.

True enough, I appreciate it. We just do it the other way for the sake of expediency. I'll post all the hits as separate rolls from now on.

Guess that was a lie. That actually took me way too long to write up, even just now.

But now I get to introduce something I was trying to do back when this was a 3.5 game. Remember the section labeled "The Heroic Spirit" from the General Player Knowledge thread? No? Feel free to refresh yourselves. Back? Ok. Big Grin

Originally, I gave the 3.5 characters a special item that would grow with them, and grant special powers. Well, in 4E, that power is in the characters themselves. I'm not sure each of you got something exactly equivalent to each other, but I'm hoping that soon that will sort itself out. I wanted something that would benefit each of you, while still not completely throwing the game off-balance. Two of you got feats, which is usually a huge thing, but I feel that the ones I gave you are generally feats that people want to take but can't or won't always make room for. This should solve that to an extent. I gave Gerand martial training and not Golkonda, because as a Defender, Gerand will be likely to make more opportunity attacks and melee basics; Golkonda I gave the familiar to since I've been itching to see one in action, and because artificers tend to have little helpers they've created to do little tasks. I'll allow Risada to decide whether his familiar is mechanical or not, since that's mostly just fluff.

The other powers I felt were roughly equal to ones you could gain from the right feat, such as the one that grants a Skill Power, or were roughly worth a feat or so. I may adjust them somewhat if we find that they're either throwing things off balance or just not working.

Also, everyone feel free to add a number of languages based on your Int modifier. I always thought that was a stupid change from 3.5 to 4E, and I hate the Linguist feat. If you have a negative mod (I don't think anyone does), you don't have fewer languages, you just don't have bonus ones.

Also, sorry it's all so goddamn wordy! I'm sure you don't mind a little exposition, but that post was kind of ridiculous for what it was.

Wow, that's a nice number of languages I get to know! Big Grin

And I actually dig the fact that I'm using my main attack stat for my opportunity attacks. Because, let's be honest, he never planned on not using a power buring his turns; weaker attacks when he teleported.... I guess made sense, but since he's kind of an eladrin knight, being just as proficient with his opportunity attacks as his planned attacks makes him look a bit better trained.

Most of you have done an extensive amount of studying along with combat training. I'd say it makes sense. Then again, there are generally fewer languages. I still stick by it though. You guys can certainly still take the Linguist feat, but I doubt anyone will.

Ah, yeah, see I typed sword burst when I made the roll. But I'm deliriously tired, it's now 3 am and I must've been tired when I posted, and screwed up the name in the post. That being said, I thought to-hit and damage were the same for both; you're right though, I roll separately per-victim.

They were first introduced in Arcane Power, IIRC.

Damn, I didn't even think about being able to find info on them. If you want, I can go with something else. I actually had a separate idea before the familiar one, but it seemed clunkier.

They were introduced in Arcane Power, and more were introduced in Dragon. For instance, I believe there are a few Eberron/Artificer specific ones in a Dragon somewhere, such as a mini-iron defender.
