Zap will be at A13.
As a point of reference he is a halfling of the plains with simple clothing and a dagger in hand.

Alright, you're all placed. I'd like a Perception check from Zap.

The party at large sees a halfling, as described above, enter from out of the trees, just south of you. You aren't sure what he's doing here, or if he's hostile or friendly.

Furthermore, Aanna and Amnon notice the sound of many voices, just audible over the din of the waterfall. Upon more careful inspection, they can see that several kobolds are visible through the trees. They seem to know you're here, scuttling around into combat-ready positions, but not yet launching an assault.

Roll Initiative!

I'll throw up the updated map once the round starts. You can handle the new arrival how you will once the round begins.

Zap does not immediately notice the kobolds, despite being the closest to them. All he can hear is the rumbling of the waterfall and the babbling of the stream to the southeast.

Round 1!

Map:

Initiative:

Zap 16
S 14
M 14
K Delayed
Golkonda 13
Amnon 13
D 9
Aanna 8
Mytos 4

The first monster delays, meaning Zap acts first! However, he is not aware of the Kobolds at the moment. The only ones who notice the kobolds at the moment are Aanna and Amnon.

Everyone is currently at full hit points from resting after the last battle, and everyone here still has an Action Point. The only one who spent one last battle was Minharath, and he's gone. In fact, the party isn't quite sure where he is, and didn't notice him disappear in the woods.

Zap will move to F11 (assuming the trees take double movement) and will say hi and start trying to explain his presence there.

Terrain:
Whoops, forgot to explain the terrain. Gotta get used to DMing again! Wink

The trees do not hamper movement, but they do provide cover. The river is shallow enough that it does not hamper movement, except in the squares that also contain rocks. Those areas are difficult terrain, as is the rocky terrain just above the river.

So, if you want Zap can take a standard action, too. I'm going to assume you have your dagger out in preparation for opposition, unless you had planned otherwise due to trying to reason with them at first.

Now that you see the Kobolds, you notice that the majority of them (those marked 'M') are wearing hide armor comprised of warm furs, and carrying small, light shields of wood and spears. One kobold stands before you in a circle of blue, glowing runes, and is heavily armored in scale, and carrying a shield that appears to have been fashioned from a dragon's scale. As soon as you enter the circle, you begin to feel enlivened, more vigorous than just moments before.

A distant kobold raises a sling and begins spinning it around. It shouts, "Raaaagh! Kill the smoothskins! Take their skulls for Ironteeth!" Finally, it hurls a curious-looking ceramic pot at Zap. It flies through the air and cracks open against the halfling's chest, dealing 7 damage and covering his legs with a thick, gooey resin, which immediately sets and hardens. Zap is immobilized (save ends)!

The hide armor-wearing kobolds (M) scatter, several of them rushing through the trees for the main group. These kobolds have changed their positions thusly:
D18->C5 (In cover)
E19->D8 (In cover)
F16->D9 (In cover)
H15->E11 (In cover)
G19->I7 (In cover)
I11->G12, then shift to F12
K9->G10, then shift to F10
N9->D1, then shift to C1
M13->D4
M15->G7 (In cover)

One of the kobolds shifts around behind Aanna, while another charges through the trees at Amnon! It thrusts its spear forward, and hits for 4 damage!
Three kobolds surround Zap along with the heavy-armored kobold while the halfling struggles against the glue holding him in place. They all hit, for a total of 12 damage! Zap is in trouble!

Finally, a particularly athletic, lithe kobold slinks through the trees at the north of the map, and disappears into the foliage.

Map:

Ok archangel, just as a reminder, in 4E moving diagonally only costs 1 square of movement. Action points can be spent for an extra action, either a standard, move, or minor action.

Also, while within the circle, you gain a +1 to attack rolls. You're currently at 13 hit points... hopefully one of the healers can get to you before the kobolds overwhelm your low AC defense.

working under the belief that Zap would have LS readied for if he was attacked: 1d20+5=12, 1d8+6=11 (forgot to add 2 for storm power so damage is 13)
That targeting the slinger. If it hits then M @ F10 would take 3 points of electric damage.

OOC: this is going to suck for me quickly.

Lightning spray M to my north and west: 1d20+5=8, 2d8+8=13

edit: attack 2: 1d20+5=9 forgot the +1 from circle again, still didn't matter.

"Aaaarrgh! What the hell is that midget doing!?"

Golkonda moves, avoiding the enemies, and towards the halfling. Then he directs some protective arcane energy toward the halfling.

Let's go! It's time to save the girl halfing...

Move Action: moves to A3, A4, A5, A6 (4 squares).
Minor Action: Resistive Formula on Zap. +1 Power bonus to AC, can spend as a free action to gain THP equal to healing surge value + 3
Standard > Move Action: Telekinetic Leap at Zap, to A8

I guess that will do for now...

The kobold behind the group takes a swipe at Golkonda as he moves away, and misses!

Golkonda uses his innate psionic gifts to lift Zap into the air, flying over the trees to relative safety.

Amnon's next!

Amnon steps forward, placing himself between the two kobolds that stand before him.  Pointing at one of them he yells, "I will cleanse this land of your filth!"  Immediately afterward he assumes a defensive position and stabs at the kobold he challenged.

Shift to C4
Divine Challenge Kobold in D4
Enfeebling Strike Kobold in D4: Hit: 9 vs. AC  Damage: 6
If I hit (doubtful), the kobold is at -2 to hit until the end of my next turn.

"Alright, we've got an innocent! Deploy!" Aanna's last word is accompanied by an orange glow on her wand, which amplifies the last syllable to an almost visible shockwave that plows over the two kobolds in front of the party. After Amnon and Gerand take the opportunity to reposition, she herself moves forward as well, dropping her wand to the ground and drawing her sword.

Standard: Shout of Triumph, covering Gerand, Amnon, and the two Ms in front of the party.
Shout of Triumph attacks (1d20+5=24, 1d20+5=9)
Shout of Triumph damage (1d6+4=9)
So one most likely hits, and one definitely misses. On a hit, the target in question is pushed 4 squares, but I have reason to believe that these are minions. Wink
For Amnon and Gerand's repositioning, see OOC thread.

Move: Move to... let's say D7. This will procoke two OAs on the way.

Free: Drop wand.

Minor: Draw sword.

You didn't specify the order in which the attack rolls applied, so I'll assume you're working left to right. You were right about the minions, though! As for the party movement, I'll need to know exactly where Aanna is sliding them. It's fine to get a little input, but when you get down to it, their positioning is technically up to Aanna.

Also, everyone, please do remember to list which defense your attack targets!

The shockwave ushers forth as the first kobold drops unconscious at the foot of the tree, while the other manages to brace itself.

With one of the kobolds down, Aanna only faces one Opportunity Attack, as the kobold behind her swings and hits for 4 damage!

Gerand is up!

Gerand slides into place, flinging a bolt of energy at one of his foes in the process. As he slides in, he raises his sword against a nearby foe, slashing upwards with a ripping sound as the arcane energy builds on his blade. As his strike ends, he waits for his foe's reaction, taunting those nearby with a gesture to come.
Mark D8 with Aegis of Striking
Attack G7 with Booming Blade
To-Hit:24 vs AC
Damage: 8

Damage (If Moves Away): 4 Thunder
If G7 dies, will move to E8, otherwise I'll just use a minor action to motion for the kobolds at D8/9 to come to me. Think Neo, but less dumbass.
