Most of those, at least in partial form seem to be safe enough to hand out at earlier levels than capstone, just stagger it out a bit.

I think I gave +2 on saves against poison, paralysis, stunning, and sleep at 5th level with 25% fortification.  At level 10, the bonuses increase to +4 and the percentage chance increases to 50% and I throw in darkvision.  At 15th level, they all become flat immunity.

Do you guys think the Resurrection spells are a good fit for the hydromancer?  Right now, I figured the three Vigor spells and the three Restoration spells were good fits, along with Revivify.  I started to flesh out the spell lists a bit more this weekend, and I also started creating new spells for a few of the classes to help with this.

I figured I'd give the hydromancer a Grease-equivalent called Ice Patch that behaves similarly, except fire can melt the ice, and iced objects are buoyant.

I also made a Water Jet spell in a 30-foot line that does 1d6 non-lethal damage per level (Reflex save for half) that extinguishes small and smaller non-magical fires.  Does that sound in line with a first level spell?  It seems better than stuff like Whelm, but I don't think Whelm is a good spell.  I also figured on giving this out as an at-will SLA to the hydromancer so they'd have something to do other than stab people with tridents.

Everything sounds good so far Robby. Once you think it is close to done would you put up a full mock up of it so we can evaluate it as a whole rather than piecemeal. I know personally I can do a much better job at it once it is all together for me to look at.

I plan to do it all at once, but I don't feel like reposting the whole thing (that's still incomplete) as I add small parts.

I still have to do the bulk of the hydromancer's features, most of the high level aeromancer's features, and a few other things here and there.

Pyro sounds like a good fit.

I think a full-on resurrection spell would fit hydro in the life-water connection, but pyro should get a combat res spell, similar to revivify, based on the Phoenix, with maybe a wreath of flames around the target or something similarly defensive. That would discourage enemies from going near the target while they or their party gets them some healing.

I like this idea. Perhaps have the spell take a few rounds to cast and have them surrounded by flames during that time.

I think Resurrection fits both fire and water admirably, and move to include a possible Phoenix Rebirth class feature for the Pyromancer(well, actually, I advocate having something like that for each of them, dispersing to their component elements and reforming, with variantions for each, i.e. Fire's restores them one round after death at half hp, Air's transforms to gaseous form to reconstitute at 1hp after some time of extremely high speed motion, Water's liquifies and reforms an hour later at full health from the liquid, Earth transforms into an object with extreme hardness and begins fast healing from there)
Make em all innate, but with limited uses or with a way to bypass it(in the above, Fire would be limited per day, Air, Water and Earth can be attacked in their elemental form)

It seems comparable with Burning Hands(d4 lethal->d6 subdual, 15ft cone->30ft line), but then Burning Hands is pretty crappy as a spell. Throw in an automatic bull rush?

The Ice Patch behaves like Grease.

I'm not sure I want a Bull Rush.  Not because it's complicated, but I'm not sure I want the primary low-level attack to involve four d20 rolls each round.

Yeah because d20s are for fighters and suckers who have to make saves.  Wink

I would look at the rules for decanter of water. It doesn't let you do a bull rush and is probably the closest thing in the game to give you a point of reference.

I like this idea. Perhaps have the spell take a few rounds to cast and have them surrounded by flames during that time.

Yeah, for this, round 1 the body would be consumed by flames, leaving a pile of ash. Any creatures adjacent are burned for some d6's of damage. Round 2, the fires continue to burn. Round 3, the target is restored bodily at either 1/4 or 1/2 hit points, and on following rounds they gain fast healing for the duration of the spell as long as they stay in the fire (to which they are immune). If they leave the fire for any reason, the spell ends.

Of course, that doesn't really help the pyro very much, as it's intended to be cast on someone else (and the pyro can't target themselves if they're already dead).
As an alternative, if you go the spell route, make it more of a buff at minutes or 10 minutes or hours/level, and the above description goes into effect immediately when the target (self) reaches either 0 hp or -10, I'm not sure which.

(btw: I love homebrewing this stuff Big Grin)

Allow two casting times, immediate (or some way to get it in before falling) when targeting self, or standard when targeting some one else.

Not bad, but even so, I still don't see the Pyro doing a lot of party-healing. I'd think they'd tend to be a bit more selfish, and thus a Personal buff seems to make more sense. To me, anyway.

That could work.  Although, if the fire damages adjacent creatures, it sucks for your allies if they're close.  I suppose the damage could always come from anyone trying to move the body out of the flames.

Although this seems to leave open the possibility of reach weapons.

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of the pyromancer's phoenix ability being a self-only class feature.  How often should it work?  Once a week or day?

Right now I have a slot open at 11th level, but I'm not sure if that's too early.

If it worked like revivify and you died again at the end of the duration, 11 shouldn't be too early. If it's permanent, I'd say it's a little early. Also, they shouldn't need it more than once per week, but I really hate weekly abilities. I'd say once per day.

Once a day, with duration, at 11, and include some damage boost, seeing as they are even fierier that normal.

Later level, make it permanent, but still include the damage boost for the normal duration.

What do you mean by permanent? If it's hours/day until activation, it probably won't matter. Minutes, sure. But I'd suggest if making any additions, just change it to 2/day. Oncw should be enough, twice definitely enough. Keep in mind they get spellcasting and other class features. You can't give too many powerful abilities or it starts getting unbalanced.

Duration of the second life, 11 would get x rounds or minutes, whatever, and then higher level would actually be bringing them back.
