Encounter six seemed harder, although, according to borked CR calculations, wouldn't four CR 1 monsters make an EL 5 encounter?  I suppose four elementals that synergized together would be harder than one of each, each doing its own thing.

Still I think I'd be hard-pressed to run you guys against four or five EL 2 encounters and have it truly wear on you.  I know having a fifth PC does make CR/EL calculations different, but it seems that I need EL 3+ encounters for it to be meaningful.  Of course, this is a group of four casters...

I think pressing the team harder is a better test.

Yeah, throwing above CR encounters would push beyond the 1/4 resources thing to see how badly we get chewed. Which after all, is where most classes break down, not routine adventuring, but when pressed hard.

I dunno if it was harder, per se, just made us work more specifically.

I'm learning though that, when paired against others in this style of class, the Earth variant does not the best melee guy make. Granted, could be that I'm just a slow ass dwarf...

Well, we've still yet to see what it can do at higher levels. Throwing down a Fist of Stone at the start of combat could help tremendously at these early levels, and then later on, other features and spells could be very useful in offsetting the 'slowness' of the dwarf.

I'll try to get another one up in the next few days.

Do you guys want to try anything more a level 2, or do you want to level up to 4?

Yeah a good hard boss fight to finish the level sounds good.

I'll either be on a lot this week or not at all. I'm going to be out of town most of the week for my little girl to have a relatively minor surgery.

Thanks guys. Flay I know we have a few more years of this. She has another heart surgery that may be in April-ish and a 3rd heart surgery around 2 or 3 years old. She is doing better than anyone imagined and has already pushed past the time they expected for the surgery they think will happen in around April.

I'm back in town now. They changed everything on us several times yesterday, but is is settled until early January. Then we are looking at lots of trips and a heart surgery.

Water Jet Bugbear 3, unable to roll at the moment due to being at work.
Serias shoots water at the bugbear -> 2d6 = 10, and the bugbear attempts to dodge -> d20 + 4 = 9.
Damn.  You probably want me to start rolling for you all the time!

Yes, I'm blowing my spells away. Yes, this is the first battle where I've gotten close enough to actually cast them at a relevant time. Yes, I am a happy little dwarven critter.

By the by, aside from anklets of translocation, what's a good way to start enhancing my shite 40 ft speed? I've never bothered getting anything for speed for a character before, so I'm kinda lost.
