beguiler so we have some trap capabilities and a face for interactions is another choice as well. Their capabilities should be comparable with what we have but have almost no overlap.
I'm well-versed in playing Beguilers, so that could work. However, are the encounters going to be set up the same as the other playtest ones? If so, we may not even encounter traps or social situations.

True. These classes are a bit less combat focused than the others though. Yes most of their abilities are combat focused but some are utility and the like. So we really would have to run at least closer to a module style to really test them. IE these guys have things they can do outside of the fight as well.

True. We'll have to see what Robby says about the style of the encounters, or if he's going to try running us through a mini campaign, or something. Also, we'll see what he thinks could help.

I was planning on running these pretty much like before. Mostly combat, with perhaps tiny stealth mini-games up front. I wasn't too worried about social stuff. Beguiler's a decent power fit, but things like Trapfinding and the social skills will be mostly wasted. Also, you'd have to find some way to cope with things like undead and what not.
Crusader seems good too. I agree that warmage is largely redundant. Dread necro is kinda iffy. The class largely relies on you doing stuff like Commanding meat shields at low level and animating hoards at middle level, and that could get tedious for a PbP.

How about I roll up a Crusader, giving you guys an extra meatshield and some basic healing? Later on, Serias can use healing wands anyway to heal between encounters, and I can help out in-combat. I'll just go straight Crusader, too, so I'm not really tainting the combat with anything crazy. No RKV sillyness.

Same way as the 'sneak up' minigames, just need to enter the rooms first, look for and possibly disarm any traps before the monsters come in on a countdown basis.

You changed your mind about that post, or about running a new PC? I was going to ask about multiclassing with warblade, but it really doesn't matter. Crusader 20 is fine for the purposes of the playtest. If everyone else thinks they'd be better off if I rolled a Beguiler, however, I can do that too. Both are easy to put together (the Crusader's almost done, and I've got old char sheets of beguilers I can just scale back)

Crusader seems more useful for this playtest, if only because it puts the onus of magical abilities on the elemental mages. An additional spell list being available may conceal the lacks of the classes we're testing.

I like the crusader as well as it can supplement our healing capabilities so that our Hydro isn't stuck trying to keep us all from dieing rather than doing his thing. My only concern is it competing with the Geo as the tank. I think they go about it in different enough ways to be ok, but it is a possibility that they will step on each other's toes.

The nice thing is, seeing the two side by side, it might be easier to see who's more survivable in melee. My bet is on the crusader, but that's kinda how I intended it.

The geo isn't meant to be a full-on tank, the way I see it. They get nice defenses, and fight in melee combat, but they're still spellcasters.

Are we still doing honor system? Because given how unreliable IC is (or rather, how much I distrust its rolling and how often it goes down) I prefer rolling my own dice whenever possible.
