I just looked at them. That's a good idea. I have just discovered a bunch of 4th level sorcerors can decimate a 10th level character just by all casting magic missile at once.
Ow. Now I'm curious. How many sorcerers were they? Did they do it one round, or was this spread out a bit? |

I actually had something similar happen to a character of mine. It was some kind of wasp that had magic missile at will. My poor paladin was the primary target and despite having the most HP in the party almost died repeatedly at the hands of those bugs. It sucked bad!

CL4(Sorc 4 to be precise), I think there were 8 of them.
Man, can you just imagine anything flying over a few hundred level 1 wizards/sorcs? If it didn't have spell resistance or some form of protection(like Shield, which takes a round out of your fight to buff up anyway) it'd look like a New Year fireworks display.
That Magic Missile there is a spell that needs revision. Maybe provide a touch attack roll, but ignore non complete cover and reroll if you fail to turn and retarget.

Yeah, it's only scary on large numbers. Also, they already did a rewrite. It's called Lesser Orb of Force. You deal slightly less damage, must make an attack roll, and you get to ignore SR.

I hadn't thought about it until the troll fight, but I've been house-ruling how I handle charges. It just never came up until now. The rules per the PHB are actually ridiculously restrictive, to the point that you can't even use Ride-by Attack except in some contrived circumstances. I hadn't actually articulated my house-rule into words, so I'll give it a shot here, and see what you all think. Obviously, this would affect all of you too (well, Thorden most likely  ). Modified charging rules:When charging, you must charge in a straight line at your opponent, for at least 10 feet. You make a single attack at your opponent as soon as he is within your reach. All other charge rules apply (+2 to hit, -2 to AC, etc). Basically, you don't have to charge directly at your opponent, just so long as the straight path you take would put him within your reach. This makes Ride-by Attack actually possible, and also alleviates some of the crippling charge restrictions. So, what do you think? For the time being, I'm going to continue encounter 19, but I wanted to discuss this here with you guys. |

Again, not really an issue.
It mostly applies between melee types(where your positioning relative to the subject is important so as to set up next rounds' flanks or disengage properly) compared to in melee-casting contests, due to the slightly lower AC of non-cleric casters, who make the flanking bonus less important compared to miss chances and outright evasion.

Keep in mind, if you really think IC's being unfair, we don't need to use it to post links to our rolls like in other games. You should feel free to grab a physical die and roll that if you want or any other roller, as Robby mentioned early on. |
