Yeah i don't tell my DM's my exact HP because they tend to try and pull punches to not kill PCs. I want the monsters to behave as normal.

crap i just looked at my sheet and realized i haven't been using my faster speed.
It's funny that you mention it because I used to do the same thing with a friend who would DM me.  He'd throw me against stuff that should statistically slaughter me, and then pull punches as the average case scenario reared its ugly head.  This seriously was stuff like me running a 4th level fighter type (I think he was a barbarian 1/fighter 1/rogue 2 at that point) fighting the 4th level ogre barbarian straight out of the MM.  Of course, he had to start pulling punches after I was hit twice, and I told him "you realize, we're both 4th level (which would otherwise be a 50-50 fight) and he has 4 giant HD and a +10 bonus to Str on top of that?[/rant]

Rest assured that I've gotten to the point where I don't really like pulling punches in a regular game, and I certainly won't in one that's meant to playtest these classes.  That, and you guys effectively get free resurrections after a fight anyway.

i wasn't exactly worried about it. Though i was having to double check me sheet when i saw how much damage i took on the 2nd hit. I was thinking "crap do i even have that many hp left!?"

Yeah, I had to double check too, mainly to keep the update correct.  Do I put "Aepa takes 5 damage!" or "Aepa takes 5 damage and is staggered!"?

I also had to double check the earlier post to see if you'd taken 4 and 5 damage or 6 and 5.

was looking at stuff for leveling and a question has come up. What is the effective spell level of each spell like ability we have. The pertinent one in my case is Windstrike. I need to know for key info on how it interacts with feats that affect SLAs and it would be important for dealing with globes of invulnerability as well.

I guess I never included that info.  Figure on using this formula:

Effective Spell Level = ((Class Level at which ability is acquired + 1) / 2), round down, capped at 9.

For that matter, you can just reference this formula as a table:
Class level     Effective
when ability    Spell
is acquired     Level
__________________________
1 - 2           1
3 - 4           2
5 - 6           3
7 - 8           4
9 - 10          5
11 - 12         6
13 - 14         7
15 - 16         8
17 - 20         9

As for Wind Strike, though, should it be 1, or maybe the highest level of power added to it (Wind Push, Wind Trip, etc)?  That seems to make the most sense to me.

Well, honestly I expected more creatures, like the downed Zombie 3, to attack me, but I guess Aepa didn't have a chance to move out of the way, or maybe I just didn't choose the right place to position myself to protect him. Either way I'm going to try and pay more attention to tactical positioning.

IIRC, I just took the shortest 5-foot step for the zombie.  I wasn't trying to put any more thought into it other than "closest creature".

Grizz shouldn't beat himself up over it. That is what the zombies are for  . I know i was putting Aepa in a bad situation when he moved forward, i was just trying to clear a path for the rest of the party.

Yeah, my first instinct was to set up flanks, and then I remembered that they have 0 Int.  They probably wouldn't put that much thought into it.

Well, if the dwarf didn't get round 0'ed, the fight would have been a lot harder.

I assume we're doing the same "increasing wealth by WBL standards" from between 2nd and 3rd level values, like last level.

I'm fairly busy today, but I'll try to figure out if there are any equipment changes as well as any other changes I need at this level later. Everything else should be leveled up now.

Yeah.  You guys should get +1,800 gp, plus any expendables used last level.

I think we're just waiting on Veekie, then.

Venn, I figured Shift Weight would probably work with Fist of Stone.

Hmm, eventually I gotta find some way to get Fist of Stone on a more permanent magic item, maybe 3/day or something if need be. Spending my whole turn retrieving the wand and then casting the spell often just takes too much time.

As for my equipment this level I may just go with some upgraded armor as well. Not that I'm hurting on defenses, really.
