page 58 of the XPH

To manifest the power without any display (no matter how many displays it might have), a manifester must make a concentration check (DC 15 + the level of the power).

Astral construct

Display:Visual; see text

Is it possible to manifest an astral construct without the visual display making an invisible astral construct?

Does not sound right. Seems like it suppresses this:

Visual

The manifester’s eyes burn like points of silver fire while the power remains in effect. A rainbow-flash of light sweeps away from the manifester to a distance of 5 feet and then dissipates, unless a unique visual display is described. This is the case when the Display entry includes “see text,” which means that a visual effect is described somewhere in the text of the power.

For instance, the Display entry for astral construct power is Visual; see text" The text indicates that a construct is formed. The construct, as a visible object, is the visible display for the astral construct power.

Couldn't you still shut off the visual display of the ectoplasm construct?

i dont think so, since displays are specifically just ways your body shows the fact that you're manifesting a power. it does imply that the construct is the visual part of the power, by saying see text, but it is kinda shaky. personally, i'd probably just let them have a psionic equivalent of invisible spell, and let them use that.

well in a sense thats what it is. psions get invisible spell, silent spell, still spell for free, however it's balanced because they have to use their psionic focus to add a metapsionic feat, so until the caster they can't stack on 5 many different metapsionic feats, unless they take other feats, like psicrsytal containment, psionic meditation.

There would be no point in having the natural invisibility as a C menu ability if you could simply make the construct invisible by dispensing with displays...comon people, it should be obvious no matter what interpretation you use that this is impossible.
