Looking for players: In shadows of kingdoms

I am looking to see if there is any on interested in playing a game set in a home brew world were the players will be starting out as trained recruits for a spy like organisation know as the Shadow Core the first few missions will be based on the makeup of the group doing missions that can cover intelligence gathering, espionage assassination or something in between so the party has a feel for each other. Bur first i think i should give you an overview of the world.

Regions and short description as viewed by the state of white Gryhon

White Gryphon The mountains of the Northern edge surrounded by 3 sides by water there reagion is mountainous but small, there capital White Gripion is a towered city overlooking the sea, the many mages and magical creatures call the region Home for they haven made alliances with many factions such as Metallic Dragons and there worspers of Bahamut the dragoon born. As well as many clans of were wolfs , dwarfs, elves and just about any group that are willing to live by its laws. There is no one main religion for there in any city you will find one large temple with shrines to most of the Gods.  There army is made up of a small but professional force with orders of knights as well as dragon riders and well as other riders of other kind of magical beasts such as gryphons and large standing Navy, but there real weapon is in there spy networks for time and time agene the council as said that the they will not interfere with the conflicts but will not attack and will not attack in turn. So they really on teams of highly skilled operatives trained in the rolls of intelligence gathering, espionage assassination and the appropriate counters.   They are called by many as the Shadow Core

Mithros = A city state with a large plains in farm land with access to the sea. The Dominant relagion is that of the Shining Light of Pelor well despite all there go intention the church has taken over the government and the taken over main city of Ravens Bluff were they teach that Magic (not controlled by the church)  and Darkness is Evil (or what the high priests call evil )and must be destroyed.  There armies fall under two types the conscripts of the people with are many cases people taken form there communal farms (ran by the church) and told that they will defend their homes and that of the church itself with many Elite  warriors and well trained spell casters in its ranks.

Hollowfaust the City of Necromancers in a nations strength is judged by its power in the arcan arts it is very strong, but also very mysterious, Suranded by swam and marsh land the main power group there is it’s Mages Council, the Two main religions in that area are of Nerull and Hextor. Currently they are at war with Mithros if you can call it one, Mithros sends out attacking armies will Hollowfaust destroys them and uses there dead to bolster their defence. So far Hollowfaust armies have not left their borders.

The elf kingdoms is a collection of 6 Feudal states under one high king very little is known for they are very isolationists in their heavy wood and there true power is extremely hard to gage. But most that enter there region are never seen alive.

Character creation rules lvl 6 geslate character 42 point buy no restrictions on class full hp

This seems like fun to me, I have yet to play a spy and would not mind trying to change that.

I agree it looks interesting. Plus i've never played a gestalt game before either. So we would need to make sure we have stealthy characters sounds like fun. I'll tentatively say i'm in right now.

couple of questions:
Lvl 6 builds but how far do you think we would progress? IE is it worth a build that won't come to full power for another hand full of levels?
You say no class restrictions does that include waiving duel progression PrCs?
Any Race restrictions?
I take it from your description the party should be neutral or evil? At least with this mentality:
Quote
The Operative: I'm sorry. If your quarry goes to ground, leave no ground to go to. You should have taken my offer. Or did you think none of this was your fault?
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: I don't murder children.
The Operative: I do. If I have to.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Why? Do you even know why they sent you?
The Operative: It's not my place to ask. I believe in something greater than myself. A better world. A world without sin.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: So me and mine gotta lay down and die... so you can live in your better world?
The Operative: I'm not going to live there. There's no place for me there... any more than there is for you. Malcolm... I'm a monster. What I do is evil. I have no illusions about it, but it must be done.

What power level are we aiming for? Good solid characters or are we turning it up to 11?

Ooh, I've always wanted to play in a full gestalt game...

Are there any racial restrictions? If yes/no, does LA take up one or both sides of the Gestalt?

I will let it go with one side and the MAX LA is 5

I was hoping to leave the game more open ended at first you are given a objective I will not the players how to perform but the world has many events going on at the same time it is how the world reacts to it I am also expecting a high PC fatality rate as well in this campaign.  The reasons i can’t say with out spoiling the surprise.

as for the max level i don't know it will depend on the party and how the players do for i will admit i will reward players for good role playing over there skill in combat.

I'm fine with a high fatality rate as long as it isn't arbitrary or a bait and switch (kill this lvl 5 merchant, in reality he is a lvl 20 druid//cleric/10 dips with full casting progression, and we are lvl 8)

Will resurrection be an option or should be have several backup characters in mind and possibly built as well?

I assume what you mean by more rewards for role playing than combat is bonus xp and other nice non-xp bonuses, like making an ally to provide useful info or gear etc...

How about duel progression classes? I know gestalt says they are a no no but you said no class restrictions so i just want some clarification before I start brainstorming something like an RKV or some such.

I assume flavor is mutable and if we want a class that requires a deity that doesn't exist in your world we can work together to figure something out.

I am interested but would not mind more rules being laid out, like the already mentioned duel progression classes, I would assume you will cap caster level to charicter level, but who knows.

We are discussing 3-3.5, right?

Are there any forbidden books?

Good movie choice by the way archangel.arcanis.

Ok, I'd like to add a post for a lovely little Dragonfire Adept|Totemist.  Con-Focused something. Truth be told though, I'm getting a little tired of writing up sheets, been doing that a lot recently, so if we're going to have a lot of applicants, and there is going to be a competition, I'm not going to make a sheet.

A rogue//warlock would fit in well here I think.

forbidden books no but i do want you to state your scorce books as for duel progression classes remember there is a caster level cap of character level unless there is a feat that rases the caster level that the RAW will allow it

Resurrection = that will depend on the scenario and if the party recover the body. And if they can afford it.  There will be xp bonuses for good replaying and what i mean by high fatality rate is lets say you are given an operation in the city of Raven’s Bluff and it goes bad, the an alarm is rased and there are people that can recognise your face or you publicly have arcane battle with paladins in the streets being a wanted man will make the missions harder. You may what to try to publicly fake your death ...

gotcha sounds like "acceptable risk" for such a profession. I just wanted clarification since the last time i had a DM say something like that i walked out of the game within 30 minutes due to them saying oh you sneezed so your character pissed off this dragon that has a psychotic break due to sneezes  Evil Laugh .

I don't have a problem i with allowing or not the duel progression just wanted clarification and your restriction is a good choice as well. Though it does open up possibilities for tipple 9s or even a quad (arcane, divine, psi, maneuvers)

You will scare him away from the idea.

I'm interested in playing. Will we be using the PbP forum to play, or some other way?

Thinking about a chameleon/wizard, wizard/anything, or maybe a druid/cleric. I love casters.

What power level are we looking for, and is homebrew material allowed?

I am interested in playing (sincetwo of my games seem to be.... immobile...) as an illusionist/buff gish RKV. No overdrive, just strong-fast-hard hitter with arcane and martial (it might make sense, who knows).

I'v got two tests in a few hours, so I'll be sleeping, but I'll have something later tonight... Thinking either an int based caster focused on force effects/buffs/illusions on the one side with warblade to eternal blade on the other, or a similar arcane side with a charisma class and cleric/crusader/rkv on the other. Not sure which I'd prefer, but probably the int based build for the simplicity...

--EDIT-- How mutable is flavor/racial prerequisites for feats/classes? Does one need to be a gnome to be a Shadow craft mage, for example (though I probabky WONT want that route this time around) or an elf for eternal blade?

i'm think psi on one side and some sort of ToB on the other. Think of it as having a rail gun (crystal shard) with a +5 bayonet of ass kicking (maneuvers)

this was my idea. fuck you.

gonna go with some sort of caster, then. Factotum//illusionist/SCM.

question: is the kobold sorcerer cheese allowed? dragonwrought, using loredrake on it, greater draconic rite of passage.

I wasn't going to go too hard on action manipulation which is where i figure you are going so you could still do it and we both have very different characters.

I think i've changed my mind anyway. Now leaning toward Druid//rogue/Master of Many forms/Template or LA Race.

Ok now i'm just being politician level flip flopper. I'm so indecisive as to what I want and how to do it. Now looking a some sort of spelltheif build because that would be cool. I think i may just need to sit for a while and let the group build their characters and then start brainstorming with the gaps as my guide.
