Leadership: Cohorts/Followers. Get a minion 2 levels lower than you. Treat him nice; replacing him lowers your reputation! Thrallherd: Thralls/Believers (replaces Leadership). Get a minion 1 level lower than you. Nine levels later, get another minion 2 levels lower. These creatures flock to you like you're a god and replacement is easy. Just wait a day! Simulacrum: Make a copy of a powerful critter, like a Solar or a creature with fast healing and racial spellcasting. A Planetar is proof in core that a creature's racial spellcasting isn't tied to its HD. Animate Dead, Create Undead, et al: Animate Dead: Turning your DM's favorite creatures into your Pokemon since 1977! Ahem. Corpsecrafter and desecrate go especially well with this. If you can kill it and have the onyx to raise it, then it's yours! Generally, skeletons are more cost efficient. (In Pathfinder, Fast, Plague Zombies or Bloody Skeletons are best.) Command Undead: It demands finding these creatures, but they become yours for 1 day per level. Mindless undead get no save! Rebuke Undead et al: Command undead, constructs, elementals, reptiles, outsiders, plants, animals, and pretty much any creature type with the right ability. They become your permanent loyal minions until you replace them. Better uberize your Rebuke checks, or this ability is near worthless! Diplomancy: Jack up that Diplomacy score and turn the world into your bestest friends with no save! Dominate Person/Dominate Monster/Dominate: Be mine! Requires legal targets and works best for Enchanters and Telepaths. Lasts up to 1 day/level. Handle Animal: I can haz beastmaster. Ahem. A Dire Tiger Warbeast is only about 1350 gold. Getting an item of +9 so you can take 1 and reliably command him costs far more. Bring on the zoo! Planar Binding/Planar Ally: Binding is better since you can get the exact creature type you want. You can prepare a trap to ensure the bound minion doesn't escape. Also makes for animate dead fodder. Beware the planes retaliating because you bound and killed The Littlest Lantern Archon. Constructs: Go go gadget robots! Expensive, but an option. What permanent 'pets' did I miss?

Hood - My first answer to all your build questions; past, present, and future. Speaking of which: Don't even need TO for this. Any decent Hood build, especially one with Celerity, one-rounds [Azathoth, the most powerful greater deity from d20 Cthulu]. Does it bug anyone else that we've reached the point where characters who can obliterate a greater deity in one round are considered "decent?"

One of my favorites is the Mother Cyst feat (Libris Mortis), which grants you a number of spells known, one of which is Necrotic Tumor. This spell permanently enslaves a creature, as with Dominate Monster, but it is even better as it isn't suppressed by Protection from Evil and the like. You have to land a lower level spell on them first to make them eligible targets, but that can of course be arranged. It is amazingly powerful. IIRC, it is a 7th level spell.

What about the various Special Mount options for paladins and whatnot? Having a Dragon Mount or Unicorn would fall under the "Pet" aspect I'd think.

It is indeed, but the prerequisite spell gives the target a -2 penalty on the save, which makes it better still. As if that wasn't cool enough, you can still give them a "reasonable" command and have it be followed for caster level days if they succeed on the save. Other ones that are similarly worth mentioning are Monsterous Thrall (Dominate Monster, but permanant) and Mindrape (re-named Programmed Amnesia). Oh, and of course, animal companion class feature.

Why would you even do this? It hurts my eyes and looks like you ate your keyboard before suffering an attack of explosive diarrhea. If using Genesis to hide your phylactry, set it at -300 degrees farenheit. See how do-gooders fare with a liquid atmosphere.

Missed dominate animal.
How about class features like dragonrider and beasttamer(Dungeonscape)?
Also favored in house(ECS). Cannith(constructs) and Vadalis(animals/beasts).

The Mentor feat grants a cohort who starts about 4 levels below you at least. Might not stack with leadership depending on your interpretation of the feat.

The soulspark familiar soulmeld grants you...you guessed it! A soulspark familiar.
Likewise, the necrocarnum circlet gives you a necrocarnum zombie.
The Psicrystal Affinity feat gives you a psicrystal.
The awaken spell gives you a plant or animal that is friendly towards you. Dominate for best effect.
The elemental reserve feats grant you disposable elementals you can pull in every round. Not permanent, but they ARE replaceable rather cheaply.
Figurines of wondrous power give you a buddy you can summon for a <specific amount of time> every <larger specific amount of time>. Similarly, there are other items in the MIC that grant better buddies more often.
Swordsages get a Desert Wind maneuver (burning ember) that grants a flanking buddy for a round, and can be reused via Adaptive Style.
Artificers can make homunculi rather cheaply through craft homunculus.
Anyone can get their hands on an intelligent weapon, whether by item familiar, Ancestral Weapon, strategic use of haunt shift, or just by dumb luck. Warforged can have all sorts of fun when enhancing their slam attack.
A certain gnomish illusionist PrC can make more-real-than-real duplicates of himself using mirror image.

You're missing Animate Dread Warrior from either Unapproachable East or Oriental Adventures (I think the former). Costs exp, but turns any dead humanoid into a permanent ally. No cap on the number you can have, and they still have all their abilities (though there are stat mods, including lowered Int). Very handy. Combine with Spell Stitching to remove that exp cost and you have endless humanoid minions.

If you stop ignoring 289 pages telling what the intent is to stretch "more power" in your own god complexion of your interpretation trumps all to cover ability adjustments from aging then I will ignore a quarter page of rules that exist within a sidebar.
I think in this case the grammar is less important than whether the Str and Dex bonus provided to your created undead scales.
