mine was a human monk20. don't laugh.

started at level1, went a few levels, then jumped to level 15, and then went to level21.  at level 21, I had 53 AC somehow.  with a 110ft move speed and the run feat(yes, really) and spring attack, he was pretty much the ultimate skirmisher.

most memorable moment was when we were infiltrating the nine hells to stop a devil invasion of faerun. when we found the guy making the portals, I nat 20'ed a bluff versus his nat 1 sense motive.  I pretended to be the infernal revenue service, and asked for his portal permit.  Laugh

we made alot of extra loot that encounter. the guy actually paid.

Back then, we believed monks weren't gear-dependent.
Also, the back-then primary DM - before I got completely stuck in the role - was pretty stingy with magical gear.

My first character was a 2e halfling rogue named "Doodle".  I was quite little at the time, so I don't remember much from back then, other than charming a giant red dragon with some "Potion of Dragon Charming".  Good times.

I'm currently playing a 3.5e level 6 human cleric, domains healing and sun. Average stats, breastplate, nothing special.

First character was a human paladin in 2nd ed with ridiculously high stats (rolled using some ridiculous method like re-roll all 1's and 2's or something).  Then my dm also gave me psionics which he apparently told me you had a chance to awaken if you had high enough mental stats.  We ran through a bunch of the early printed modules and I think I ended up getting to lvl12 (and somehow used psionic blast on an ancient red dragon for an auto splat  Laugh ) before the game ended.

A favored soul. I don't remember much except thinking that Entropomancer was an awesome prestige class for him to take eventually (Yup, I was that good), and that it took me a while to figure out that you didn't get a new level of spells every time you leveled up.

My first 3rd edition character was a half orc barbarian1/clericx with the luck and strength domains and I pretty much played it like it sounds like it was going to be played, I miss 3.0 bull's strength with it's long duration.

Generic Half Elf Ranger.  When I finally got big on D&D it was a Cleric of St. Cuthbert.  Smacking foes with a mace at lvl 2 didn't work so well, but whatever.

Lesser Tiefling Duskblade/Ranger, who had the spirit of his murdered drow mistress (he was a slave to the drow) possessing his greatsword.  Only played a couple sessions before that game flopped, but it was one of my fav's.  I was awesome enough to think that combining Favored Enemy Arcanists with Favored Power Attack and Arcane Strike was a good combo, and awesome enough to also think that levels of Elemental Warrior was the coolest thing ever, coupled with a bunch of random terrible feats from Planar Handbook.  I was gonna go something like Duskblade 11/Ranger 4/elemental warrior 5 lol.

3.5 Elven Two-Weapon Fighting Ranger, played pretty much directly out of core.
We had rolled stats and I probably rerolled a couple when nobody was looking since I ended up with two 18's.
My group also didn't fully understand the rules of the action economy in combat, so I would end up running towards an enemy and full attacking it.
I also remember that my character had some incredible hatred towards spiders and that his wolf companion was eaten by a hill-creature.

At one point, the party was split up into individual jail cells.
A rat had stumbled into my cell and, being the nature-loving Ranger that I was, promptly spoke to it through 'speak animal' to get its attention before I pulled my hand over it and promptly grapple/crushed it to death.
The next process involved harvesting its stomach acid to craft(rat-bomb) and chuck at the jail-keeper at feeding time.
But figures that the bomb didn't do much and I could just go at him unarmed, what with the whole pouncing thing and all.

lol why am I not surprised that the best way to beat someone, infernal demon summoner or not, is to pretend to be a worker from some government agency..  gets em every time

the best part is, since I was playing a monk... totally lawful

gotta love playing with critical success/failure; doesn't matter if I have a +0 bluff mod and the person I'm bluffing has +24 sense motive if I mat20 and he nat1's!  Laugh

First character was a 2e Elven Transmuter named Devereau. I don't even remember much about the character;
Second character was much more memorable- a human paladin named Francis. I recall him being basically Dudley Do-Right with a sword. I dumped Wis, and was a very poor example of a paladin. He would have died on the first adventure in the bottom of a pit if his mentor, a cleric of Heironeous hadn't showed up. Good times.

My first character was a druid, we played through the campagn in the 3.5 miniatures game box with our own characters. He died from picking magical mushrooms during the adventure.

My first character for a campaign (not a one shot) was Bud Tugly, A Wererhino Fighter who went into Epic levels. The game ended at level 30-something. The other party members were a changeling-turned-warforged artificer and a warforged cleric who took his third reforged level at level 27 to gain a shit-ton of epic feats -enough to give Heal and Disintegrate at will.
I had...hitpoints. And a super-enchanted greatsword. And something like 50 Str.

His name was Murph... because he was half cow and half dog, so I was going to combine "moo" and "woof", but "Moof" didn't sound right, hence "Murph".

I started by DMing, so my first character was a DMPC fighter/rogue.  My first actual character in another person's game was Gastre the Entangler though, a human cleric of Tyr who freely abused his ignorance that he couldn't cast druid spells as a cleric of Tyr.

First 3.0 character was a level 7 druid.  I got 1-shotted playing in a level 10 module that my friends insisted I bring my character for because they needed another guy - I won init and critted the NPC boss for massive damage, then the DM ret-conned that the NPC won init and 1-shotted me, then laughed in my face about how awesome his monster was.  Jackass.

My first character was a 2ed Sorc who used a harpoon attached to a chain. I would harpoon someone and proceed to shocking grasp through the chain. Was fun for a one shot game and got me hooked.

My next was my first real campain that lasted for 3 years. 3rd ed Human Barbarian 5/Sorc1/Dragon Disiple 10/ Frienzied Berserker 4 and went on in Epic Dragon disiple 6.... 3.0 DD had enlargement at 5th and 15th so by 26 I was Huge Gold Half Dragon Frienzied Berserker with a Str in the 60's... before rage/frenzy.

My next character around the same time in another game was a Cleric 5/Contemplative 10/ Cleric 5 who worshiped Sune. Sune wasnt my choice... but when the DM has the god walk up and say you can become her Chosen and you worship an ethos anyways... well I went for it. DM decided that as her chosen I got +40 CHA ... well I had 3.0 Divine Might and Divine Shield( Cha to dmg and Armor for Cha rounds). I had those before the Chosen things... the DM should have known lol but had a thing for Sune so she didnt change it. Made me a tad bit OPed lol.
