OOC
So for the initial round of prep (while he is "transforming" which is really just a flavor thing") Marc activates the wand of Bear's endurance.  The second round of prep (from backpedaling) he goes into Overdrive mode. This increases his Con by 8 which nets 40 extra HPs and increases his weapon DC's by +4 to 31.

Damage is reduced by 2 from Damage Reduction and then on Marcs turn he heals 2 points back from fast healing.

"Begone Abomination!"  Marc screeches. The arm with the rotating cyclinders spits fire with a loud sound that shreds the air.  Numerous small pellets impacts the Chimera in the face exloding into a noxious gas.

OOC
DC 31 Fort Save please.  Failure imposes a -4 Strength penalty for 4 rounds, if it succeeds the same penalty but for only 2 rounds.

The abomination seemed to grimace and cringe with all of its heads as the noxious gas weakened it.

You shouldn't sell yourself so short. It's a -6 penalty to Str!

Well... you didn't roll, but your highest possible roll is similar to the enemies', so... I just went ahead and started.
Basically due to the intricacies and the slowness of PbP we can't really do an initiative order. People post, but people with a very high init, who did not get to post earlier, can then interrupt their actions, or post that they did something just ahead of the others. So basically: We have a group with init of around 2-5, and a group around 20. Which just means that you're somewhere in there.
I would like to get some posts from the others: Isul, Torgthen, Daelric before you go again.

As the battle started Devanar was still praying in the hut. He was almost done, but he needed just a little more time...

Cat, who was prowling about at Daelric's feet, was very much daunted by the size of the enemies - and he most certainly didn't want to get caught in any magical artillery being thrown around. Still, his pride was also itching...
Say the word, I'll tear them apart... he said with just a bit too much gusto to be believable.

((Round 1, Isul)) Isul took a glance around the oasis, and then quickly cast a spell from his hiding place in the tree. The air surrounding the abberations exploded into a swarm of hand-sized fish with humongous teeth made of force flying around. The fish rapidly began taking chunks from those within their "school".

Standard Action: Vortex of Teeth (SpC page 230ish), 40 ft radius cylinder 20 feet tall, begins 5 ft off ground, left side envelopes the chimeric bulette and extends right to also hit the chimeric dires. No save, SR appplies (CL check 22 this round), 3d8 force damage each round on my turn for 8 rds (16 damage this round). Move Action: Rehide for snipe (Hide 15, including the -20)

Is there a taunt skill check by the way?  Smile

Torgthen cursed his luck, "Flying beasts. *spit* At least underground beasts face you head on." He hurried his small armored form out into the field (R42); he then gave a shout at the pair still unengaged in the conflict. "Hey, you nasty beasties, I got a bit of hammer over here with your name on it!"

As the hardy dwarf hustled forward, the abominations caught in the swarm of flying fish howled again, with many gaping mouths, and CHARGED straight down at him. The first [dire2] dropped right on top of him, clearing the vortex of teeth, dug claws and teeth into his victim.
Readied action: limited charge.
AC hit: Claw, 42, crit confirm 37, 16 damage; Claw, 23, miss; Dragon bite, 34, 24 damage; Dragon bite 42, 19 damage; Lion Bite, 24, 7 damage; Gore 39, 8 damage; Gore 30, 6 damage; Rake 40, 10 damage; Rake 26, 10 damage. No miss chance because the critter is right next to you.

As the Chimera landed, Doyle's spell went off, and scorching rays of fire dug into its hide. [please roll that]

The other dire lion Chimera took the same direction, but its path was blocked by its comrade, so it couldn't leave the vortex. It stayed airborne and dug its claws and teeth into the poor dwarf from ten feet away.

Readied action: limited charge goes off. AC hit: Claw 29, 10 damage, ; 28, 8 damage; Dragon bite 39, 21 damage; Dragon bite 36, 22 damage; Lion bite 23, miss; Gore, 30, 6 damage; Gore 36, 10 damage; Rake 31, 8 damage; Rake 28, 8 damage.  Please roll your miss chances on those that are hits, I don't know where you put your essentia.

[ooc]
I hope I didn't chew you up too badly. I guess I did, though, crap. I'm hoping for some miss chances on those second ones.

It's time for some of those debuffers/BFC guys to do their work. I was half expecting those guys to never get to attack.

We're only missing Snizor now. He was online today, so I might just have to pester him a bit .

Map has been updated on the same link as before.

And how is the second one charging if its charge line for closest spot is being blocked?

Torgthen was ready for the first beast. He stood fast against its assault, his armor and shield taking the worst of the beatings with load clangs, but a handful of the attacks did penetrate his defenses.

The second beast's sudden rush took him by surprise though, having not expect the pair to willing to fight as one. It was not as bad as it could have been, luck seemed to shine on him, as a few of the lethal attacks were foiled, one by his aura of fog and the other his shield. “Lady Luck, I owe you one.”

Damn it, Daelric thought to himself. If his reflexes had been faster, he could've easily contained the two straggling chimera's before they had had a chance to engage in the conflict. Divide and conquer was the stratagem fitting their situation, apparently the dwarf had yet to realize it.

"Assist the Dwarf", Daelric hissed as he began directing a spell over towards the lion-esque chimeras

[OOC:]
Daelric casts Glitterdust (Will dc 19 due to Cloaked Casting) aimed towards Dire 1 can't get both in the area.

A second hatch on the arm opened up, sprouting yet another barrelled weapon, this time with a thin beam of concentrated red light painting the target. A moment later a brilliant coruscating ray leaped forth from the barrel and blasted into the huge Chimera, which glowed suddenly as the magic energy wormed it's way inside the beast, sapping it's power.

"Hmmzt. This will cut you down to size."

Ranged Touch Attack, hits Touch AC 25 (almost a threat!)  Check Spell Resistance, otherwise it's strength is going to drop another whopping 13 points. Big Bad Chimera just got hit with a Nerf bat oh yeah!  Big Grin

[Torgthen]
It's taking a direct line, only the second one can't leave the vortex. The only requirement on charging is a direct line, and you have to threaten the square from the final point of the charge. So, yeah, it's going to hit you. Can't you shield-block one of those attacks? what about the miss chance? Also, you're not dead, and if it weren't dangerous, it wouldn't be a battle. Your character is very strong, like the others, I was sure you'd survive...

Other than that I'm not sure I understand your question...
[Daelric]
Are you hoping to slow them before they arrive? that won't work. Their initiative is far greater than yours, and they've readied their actions, so they'll go just after Torgthen, but before yours. IMHO your best bet is doing something to them so they can't nail Torgthen next round. But... of course, the choice is yours.

[Daelric]
Sure you can hit both of them, it's a 10ft RADIUS . It's a bit harder to not hit Torgthen, too, but luckily dire 1 is still in the air, which means you can actually see the spot you need to target, behind it and between the two chimeras. Who cares if their eyes aren's strictly within the spread?
dire 1 save: 8; Dire 2 save: 20
The hovering Chimera howled with rage as the glitterdust burst around it, obscuring its vision and blinding it. The other averted its eyes and steeled its will in just the right moment. It was covered with the unnaturally bright dust, but it was not blind.

Cat squirmed, inwardly. These things were so BIG, so much bigger than he was. Was this really worth it? He tiptoed hesitantly for just a second, to sum up the courage to actually attack them, but then his pride won, and he BOUNDED like a streak towards the Chimera on the ground next to the dwarf. As he closed, a dragon head darted towards him, engulfing him in teeth that tore bloody streaks all across his tiny body, but Cat did not slow down. And when he was almost under the chimera he leaped into the air, claws outstretched. His claws may have been small, but they dug in, and all four limbs left bloody streaks on the chimera's hide. Then he dropped under its belly, its body shielding him from attack. And his wounds were already starting to close.

[ooc]
Ok, this nice, but not overwhelming. Cat needs more levels, duh.

This concludes round 1. Torgthen still has to roll his miss chances.

Here are updated maps that will be used in round 2:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12539144/Battlegrid_Oasis_round1.xls
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12539144/Battlegrid_Oasis_round2.pdf

Round 2

[MARC V]
Escalating enfeeblement applies another penalty to Str, which does not stack with other penalties. What was the CL on your wand again? I'm letting you go first on this one, let's assume the init you never rolled is high enough .

The Bulette howled once more from many gaping maws. Severely weakened as it was, its will to fight was not broken yet. It moved slightly forward to improve its reach on the MARC, and then its many heads and claws darted forward, one by one in extremely quick succession, slashing and smashing into the armoured hulk. The effect, however, was less than it had hoped.
AC hit: Claw 25, 13 damage; Claw 22, 10 damage; Dragon bite 34, 16 damage; Dragon bite 24, 13 damage; Bulette bite 33, crit confirm AC 22, 11/22 damage (assuming this is not a crit); Gore 29, 4 damage; Gore 28, 5 damage;

Crap that would have looked a bit different with another +8 to hit and a lot more damage. See the awesome power of debuffs.

[Doyle]
Post your round 2 action, please. Your initiative was highest.

sorry i just pulled a 15 hour day at work so i hope this didnt slow you down to much

begin to move towards the largest of the 3 beast Doyle quickly incants a spell blinking out of existance and reappearing right in front of the largest chimera. bringing his greatsword down on it as he does arcane energy rippiling off of it and lightning shooting into the beast as the blade hits.

to hit -1d20+16=23
move 14 feet just out of reach of the chimera quick cast dimensional hop to be in melee with it just in front of it
if i hit i am also channeling shocking grasp so here is the weapon damage
2d6+10=19
and here is the spell damage
5d6=18 electricty if type matters

Please post your squares. The huge one is the one next to to the MARC.
Unfortunately Doyle's attack missed the chimera - his blade still crackled with the power of the spell.

Ironically only one of the dragon heads was able to find purchase, though it made only a small dent that began to seal quickly.

Inspired by the creature's fearsome visage, Marc's dragonmouthed cannon opened and spewed forth a blast of fiery napalm, even as the Marc retreated a full 30 feet.

13 damage, Reflex save DC 31 for half damage.  Is now entangled. Half speed, cannot run or charge, -2 on attack rolls, -4 to dexterity (and -2 to AC because of it. Marc is making more than 5 foot step so it does provoke an attack of opportunity with the above penalties included.  The entangle will last 4 rounds, each round it will burn for an additional 2d6 damage.

"I predict it will soon try to flee" Mael remarks out loud, trying to get the Marc to hear him. "Hold it there if you can, and finish it."

He shifts to the side, raises his right hand - his left hand is still gripping the whip at his waist - and incants a spell in a voice surprisingly low given his small frame. Nothing visible happens, until the chimera's eyes widen in fear... Of what? Only it knows.

TT, that's your 3rd round you posted? You're a little bit ahead of us. Wink Also, you shouldn't retreat, you should pound it into the ground. At some point you stop debuffing and you start killing. Well, unless you're Mael and you're too nice (and too weak? no, not him) to kill people.

5ft step to the SE
Standard: Fear, catching only the chimera in the cone. Will DC 21 or be panicked, but even if it saves it's frightened (it was already shaken) for the duration of the longest fear effect (Rules Compendium rule), which is the bardic music.
The Harmonizing weapon picks up the music for 10 rounds.
