DnD modern.
Ugh, please don't say that...

d20M uses the Survival skill.  Then again, I could also imagine it falling under the purview of Bluff.
Does d20M have skill synergies?  I could see 5 ranks in Bluff adding +2 to the Survival roll for the purposes of animal calls.
d20M is using a ruleset halfway between 3.0 and 3.5.  There are skill synergies, which should be in the CRB, not sure about the SRD.

Since nobody's running a "standard" SG-team member, I'll take that role.  Either going into the Soldier AdC via Strong, or Gunslinger AdC via Fast.  If nobody minds, I can take the team leader position.
I minds, If you take team leader, then you can't be the red shirt you just discribed.

lol, fine.  Should I go the sniper route?  I haven't seen everybody's build yet, but I'd like to provide something that will help round the team out.  I suspect Bowen will eventually head down the autofire/burstfire route (assuming we level up that far).  What is it that we're lacking?
Jup, going for autofire/burst fire.

Do we have a point man? A sniper might come in handy as well.

Hmm, both would be useful.  Lemme take a look at the Field Officer AdC when I get home, then I'll make up my mind.  What's everyone else's main attack type going to be?

My guy's primary attack is a pistol/zat. He is the science geek and I plan on Macgyvering solutions, my hope is to make a nuke out of 2 paperclips and some bubble gum  Wink

Been doing some research...  Stargate Command is under NORAD, which is a joint US/Canadian agency.  I think I'll have my guy be a JTF2 (Canadian Special Forces) member transferred to the SGC.

Great so now J0lt's character is going to have "ay" on the end of every sentence.  Tongue

if you do go sniper J0lt that could be entertaining as the longest confirmed kill by a sniper was made by a Canadian a few years ago in Afghanistan. (i spent the weekend watching the military channel's top weapons including the sniper rifle one)

That's "eh", eh?

I've picked my weapons.  M21 sniper rifle with a SIG-Sauer P226 for my sidearm.  Now I'm trying to figure out whether my build would work better as Fast -> Soldier or Dedicated -> Soldier...

Strong may still be an option, as I intend to go into Soldier...  Lemme calculate the skill points and see if I can do it.

Just the first idea that came to mind really, seeing as you might incur some range penalties if you want to snipe over long distances, so the BAB might help.

But yeah, skills are always a problem...

I figure I'll want Hide, Listen, Move Silently and Spot maxed, and then whatever prerequisite skills I may need.  That'll be more or less impossible with Strong...  Think I'll go with Dedicated.

I'm not sure what skills I want for this character, Knowledge biology, survival, research, ect

as for weaponry, Zats, Intar, and maybe a bolt action tranque gun.

I'm guessing that A.A's character's middle name is Dean?

Just had a hilarious idea...

Strong/MA gunner with Weapon Focus, Point Blank Shot, Double Tap and a Beowulf with Explosive ammo

Hello 3d12 twice per round

(no, not actually gonna do this, just some ramblings that seemed somewhat funny)

With a Beowulf, you should be able to be firing .50 cal rounds...

Yes, it uses .50 calibre rounds...

Not sure what your point is...

I thought about it. I'm actually going to say that he hates the show because of that. If you have ever seen Office Space you can see where this is going.

Samir: You know, there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There *was* nothing wrong with it... until I was about twelve years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys.
Samir: Hmm... well, why don't you just go by Mike instead of Michael?
Michael Bolton: No way! Why should I change? He's the one who sucks.

The SGC hasn't yet encountered Intar.  They do have a very limited supply of Zats.
