Unicorn Horn, soulmeld, Magic of Incarnum [/quote] Sorry, but I don't understand that book at all. I'm looking at it, but am lost. Is that a selection you'd take at 2nd level?

Sorry, but I don't understand that book at all. I'm looking at it, but am lost. Is that a selection you'd take at 2nd level? The unicorn horn's Detect Evil effect is a result of binding it to your brow chakra. That means you need to both be able to shape the Unicorn Horn and have your brow chakra opened (a lesser chakra). With even one level of Totemist, you can shape any meld on the totemist list, the unicorn's horn included. Unfortunately, the brow chakra doesn't open up until level 9, so normally, you couldn't bind it for the Detect Evil effect until you gained nine levels of Totemist. However, there is a feat, Open Lesser Chakra, that you can take starting at level 12 (15 Con minimum), which can also open your brow chakra. So you could do it with only one level of Totemist, and eleven levels of absolutely anything. Or you could get access to the unicorn horn through the Shape Soulmeld feat, open your brow chakra with Open Lesser Chakra, and get your detect evil on absolutely any class combination you want of any alignment, so long as their Con is at least 15. As for understanding what does what? Once you bind it, if you're not taking any effects that grant essentia, it means you just get +2 Move Silently, +2 to Wild Empathy (but you don't necessarily get Wild Empathy), and Detect Evil at will, but it takes up your goggles slot.

Or if you have magic, open it with a spell.

Q215: How much exactly does a Wizard's spellbook contribute to ECW? I believe they get away without adding the spells they get free by leveling to the ECW amount... but where is this stated?
Also.. if I was getting spells free via Tome of Knowledge, would they count towards ECW through the book because im getting it free?

What is ECW? That's an acronym I have never seen before.

I am constantly amazed by how many DM's ban Tomb of Battle. The book doesn't even exist! Quotes: By yes, she means no.

Why would you even do this? It hurts my eyes and looks like you ate your keyboard before suffering an attack of explosive diarrhea. If using Genesis to hide your phylactry, set it at -300 degrees farenheit. See how do-gooders fare with a liquid atmosphere.

Effective character wealth, I do believe. To which I respond...
A215 If I'm interpreting the acronym correctly, then not one whit, because there is no such thing as effective character wealth. There's wealth by level. You get so much money to do with as you please. Whatever you spend to get spells in your spellbook is what's docked from WBL, whether it's scroll cost or what have you. And if you can craft things at half cost, your money goes twice as far.

A215 if you are creating a character above first level, it makes sense that the spells you get for free are added for free. For other spells, I like to use the cost written for copying a spell off another caster as it's usually cheaper than buying a scroll and just write knowing at least one powerful wizard into my storyline.

ECW=Expected Character Wealth, i.e. wealth a character can be expected to have, I think. So pretty much WBL.

Q210: Is there a known ruling on whether the Shapeshift variant (PHBII, 39-41) works with wild shape ranger? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller...?

A 210I think it could be easily adapted, but since the WS ranger only ever gets Medium and Small animals, he probably wouldn't get any new forms beyond Predator. No ruling that I know of, though.

I don't think so. They were reprinted in MIC, BTW. q217 Can I stack Practiced Spellcaster or Spellgifted with the Martial Arcanist ability of Abjurant Champion? Thinking of a build with not much casting but which can cast GMW at CL 20
