HiPS just lets you rehide while in sight. We technically already dropped the requirement for concealment or cover for hiding a long time ago, when we instituted the Tome rules (although I hadn't been keeping up with this diligently, so I let you guys keep worry about sticking in cover or concealment... ). I think if someone is aware of you, it makes sense that you'd need Cover or Concealment to hide, but I'm just going to stick with the Tome rules officially. So yes, as long as you don't reveal yourself, you can remain hidden near the Vrock w/o HiPS, even without cover or concealment. If you are revealed, you won't be able to re-hide w/o HiPS, unless you get out of LoS. I should probably also point out that Marlowe was walking towards the rubble that the Vrock is on when he walked into the dead magic zone. It's kind of hard to note that on a map, especially one as crappy as mine.

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?
Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.

Sorry. I blame veekie for encouraging procrastination by bringing other things to my attention. No problem. You guys do need to pick the spells you have your Spell Immunity buff keyed to, though. Edit: also, make sure you notice this part: The warded creature effectively has unbeatable spell resistance regarding the specified spell or spells. Naturally, that immunity doesn’t protect a creature from spells for which spell resistance doesn’t apply.

Will save DC 13 to avoid being blinded. You now have a -40 penalty to hide. BTW, Glitterdust is SR: No.
Yeah, just noticed that too. Luckily, Superior Invis negates Glitterdust, as soon as we leave the DMZ. Come to think of it, Shadow Jaunt is apparently (Ex) like most other maneuvers are. Here I was thinking that it's (Su)... As for the Will save... I might as well not risk a natural 1 and use Moment of Perfect Mind, making it impossible for RJ to fail. It's rescovered at the end of the encounter anyway. tl;dr: Screw Glitterdust.

Superior Invis says: immune to detection by see invisibility, faerie fire, glitterdust So it technically keeps Glitterdust from revealing you, but it doesn't entirely negate Glitterdust. So to someone with say... True Seeing... you'd still look like you were covered in Glitterdust (they see through the Superior Invisibility effect that normally would hide the glitterdust), and hence you'd still have the -40 penalty to hide to that person. At least that's how I think it should work. We can debate it, though.

So the rest of us are acting? I've already lost count of when.

Since there are other party members with higher initiatives, does that mean I should wait to act?

Given that the vrock apparently acts before you, that's probably a good idea, yes.

So the rest of us are acting? I've already lost count of when. RJ had a high initiative, and she opened the pit. So you can act on your initiative. Yeah, the Vrock went. I hope it wasn't too out of turn.

You guys can retcon your buff list to include things like flight, and other things that would have made sense. Flight is pretty obvious, I think.

I'm all for having Flight this combat. But on and ongoing basis aerial movement may be a bit of a problem. I couldn't find any spells decent spells that give a flight speed that aren't either personal range or limited to a 1 min/lvl duration (well other than PAO).

Remember that I modified the polymorph chain? Alter Self is no longer personal. So you could use that for a low level buff that you could easily get in a wand via a Wish. Wings of the Dragon is a 4th or 5th level spell that's actually better than Overland Flight (and the same level, but I forget which that is...) that has a 1 hr/lvl duration. It's another possible option (from Races of the Dragon, IIRC).
