Actually, I'm pretty sure RJ is the 'youngest', since she's not actually immortal - she was just petrified long ago and, predictably, hasn't aged as a result.
Still, I don't think there is such a thing as 'jailbait' for demons - they don't seem like the types to care if they're ruining a kid's life. Tongue

I count petrification as part of age, since she was alive all those centuries ago. She simply hasn't aged. Cade hasn't aged really either, so that point is moot. But I do get the point.

Well, Marlowe was displaced from time up until Pun-Pun killed Mystra. That's part of the reason he's so pissed off about it.

"Fruuzberglag, unlike our patron of sorts, is a demon. We'd probably have an easier time killing it or trying to steal the package than making a successful bargain with it, especially if that bargain involves it giving us a powerful artifact. Unless we have something to hold over its head in return, I'd recommend we steal the artifact."

He's already in possession of a time-traveling artifact, knowledge of the future won't be useful.

But to our knowledge he hasn't used it to travel to the future. I wager that'd be because it can't be used that way.

"We will need to find a certain point during which the package is not either in his possession nor under direct supervision. Moreover, we'll need to make sure they don't have scouts as competent as we have spies. It stands to reason they might, on account of potential sabotage attempts on the elves' part. We COULD try to use our knowledge of future events to our advantage... or..." That's when Raoul's face lights up, as though he just had an epiphany. "Of course, how come I didn't think of this before - we could try to speak to Fruuzberglag in the present, ascertain the circunstances under which the package was lost, and potentially use that to our advantage! Failing that, we can find the circunstances of his death so that he's able to prevent them from happening in the first place."
As an added precaution, have General Unpronouncable write a message to himself. Like that episode of SG-1...

You caught on to what I was hinting at, Prime.  Tongue

Or because he somehow loses it over the course of the battle.

See, that's the thing. I kept wondering why it gets "lost".

Possibility 1: It's not there because our future selves have it. Duh.

Possibility 2: It's not there because General Chokes-on-Jello WANTS people to think it isn't there. Otherwise the elves could try to steal it in order to reverse the way the battle ended.

If Possibility 2 checks out, there's a chance we could obtain the artifact WITHOUT having to sneak by the biggest battle in demonic history with a single shot of getting it right.

If we already had it, pun-pun might have already been taken care of. Possibility 1 needs to assume we fail, in truth. Beyond this, there is the chance it has a will of its own, and went into hiding of its own accord.

There is one detail we seem to be forgetting. If we already had it, then failed, we would have needed to somehow get it at some point.

In which case, at the imminent loss, we would probably have sent it to ourselves, or somewhere we could find it, to give us another shot - likely before we "first" acquired it to avoid headasplodeydom.

Then again, if it has a will of its own and can hide itself - we won't find it until it WANTS to be found, since it can move through time. And outpace us to boot while it's doing that.

I don't get it. Probably because I'm too old to get the reference. Just thought I'd get that out of the way, before someone else said it...

Phaedrus, if you were too old for this, I'd be very surprised. Hell, by most standards I'm probably too young for it.

OH! No, I'm not that old. I did toy around with basing the Lochnar off that, also.  I have never actually watched the show, though.

I'd recommend it. Especially the bits with David Tennant. Though incidentally, I'm curious--has there been a post somewhere detailing the vague sum of our knowledge about the Lochnar? I checked the campaign information and skimmed the thread, but our habit of not using the thing's name for safety reasons makes it a little difficult to find.

I don't remember one. HoV's character had heard about it, but I don't remember if I told him what info he knows in a PM or post. He basically just knows what it can do. Kuro's character is the only one who has actually seen it, but I didn't mention anywhere what it actually looks like... He has seen it used, and indeed had it used on him, but doesn't know much about it beyond that. I think the aboleth said a few things about it, also, didn't he? Maybe I should summarize what you guys know... unless someone else wants to do it.
