Well, the vamps will probably huddle under tarps without much need for prompting. I know we had at least one tarp, plus the enveloping pit itself, if we don't actually have extras.

You have tarps that aren't in the pit? The two cloaker ghouls are big enough that they could probably huddle under those, I think. It will be hilarious seeing them all trying to move around like that, though.

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?
Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

Since we're still in the DMZ, there's not much most of the group can ready except to run once the wall comes down, even considering that there may be a whole lot worse than hellwasps outside. We might want to find out how those two others found themselves trapped in here though.
Just be ready to grapple our new friends and put them between us and outside hazards.

They're usually about a dime a dozen. As for grabbing them, it'll be easier once I'm back in my normal form. Haven't bothered switching back to save time and since I'd only be dealing a few more points of damage per round. Really ought to look into investing in a way to change shape faster, but I've got enough feats to but as it is. Maybe if I can ever get a DCFS.... >_> <_<

I'll be right back...

That's why I went shifty-eyed. Not gonna happen, given how dubious it is. Seems that the best I can hope for is to take Quick Change, which would only change the standard action to a move action, which is unlikely to be useful enough without something else to reduce it further, but at level 9 I've got to decide between Huge size, wings for natural flight, or one of the other several incredibly useful tome combat or skill feats. Makes a couple levels in Fiendish Brute look tempting. Also Warshaper, though if I took all the levels in that necessary to get flashmorph to combine with quick change in order to change shape as a free action, I'd never get any Grand Master Fighting Styles unless we went into epic levels. I doubt it's worth it (just like natural fast healing 2 is useful but probably not worth the level), though it would be worth taking for 2 levels if it were an allowed PrC. In the brief moment that the hole was open, you also saw what looked like a scene straight from the Blood War. Scores of demons were crawling all over a jumbled terrain like ants or flying overhead, and for every demon there were at least 3 corpses on the ground, some demonic, some mortal, and everywhere flames licked the broken and burning buildings of the ancient city of Myth Drannor.
Man, now I'm not so sure I do want to make a reflex save to wind up on the other side of the wall. However, if the caster can use wall of stone as an SLA more than once per day, or, god-forbid, at-will, it might be the only way out. Anyone else's thoughts on that?

My guess is a Wall of Stone spell trap on the other side, triggered to go off whenever someone breaks through. Maybe it's worth it exploring the holey that sunglight is coming through, as those seem to not have such problems.

Those might just be too small to trigger the trap. That or we've already attracted interest from something.

You know you're neck-deep in shit when your chances of survival go UP by going into an open battlefield with three corpses for every individual.
As it is, we can't kill the Hellwasps in our present situation even if we wanted to, and chances are that zombie dragon isn't going to make things easier. Heading outside is our best shot if we want to make it, since the portal is one-way. Cade's our best hope.

Now you're getting a feel for this section of the campaign. Hence the encounter title.

I don't suppose there's any chance more than one character at once can get out with a Reflex save while a hole is open?

With readied actions, you could potentially get more than one out while it is open. You'd have to beat... whom/what-ever is resealing it on initiative also, though.

I don't suppose the Tome Vampires keep that lovely bonus to strength? Otherwise we could just use X's hos to airlift that wall of stone and let physics do the rest.

I don't think they could lift the entire dome... It's all seamless solid stone, except for the small holes in it, and it is 100 feet in diameter and about a foot thick.

No, dude, not the entire dome. Just the part that got a Wall of Stone toppled over.

This spell creates a wall of rock that merges into adjoining rock surfaces. The entire thing is seamless, even the "new" part.

Well, I've got two options right now: Turn into an avarial/use a cloaker and fly up where the wall of stone wouldn't reach, and burst a hole out the dome up higher and we airlift everyone through that, or I hop out the other side and take my chances out in the battlefield.
