Elder Evil Devotion can be found in the book Elder Evils

You basically devote yourself to an Elder Evil (Tshern has given me the OK to devote myself to Dispater) and in return you get a bonus Vile Feat at levels 1,5,10,15 and 20. A list can be found here (for a complete description you'll have to check the book):

Note that you can only choose those specific Vile Feats as bonus feats, you can't pick any other Vile Feats, from the BoVD for example, as your bonus feats.

:/ Well there goes Mortalbane. Easily enough replaced by Apostate, although I'd like to know that feat's details...there's got to be a catch.
If it's one of those things where you HAVE to make the saving throws whether you want them or not then I hope I can at least voluntarily fail against my own spells.

Are other deformity feats fine for Elder Evil Devotion other than what's on the list? I would like to continue to get uglier in more creative ways as I gain levels.

However, now that you mention that houserule again, Tshern, I just thought of something. With the traditional xp system me and DM would be able to catch up with the party, since we'd get more xp being lower level and all that (the whole 'experience is a river' concept).
Have you thought about how/if you're going to solve that issue with your houserule?

I was going to ask about XP, also. If I don't use LA buyoff, can I say he spent some XP on other things (like crafting, casting Limited Wish, etc)? How much XP do we start with? Exactly enough to be level 12? Halfway to the next? If he'd spent some earlier, would he have caught back up, like how the LA buyoff works normally?

Hmm... maybe instead of taking a template, and using LA buyoff, I could say he spent some XP spellstitching an undead with some SLAs he wants to have access to occasionally. (I considered just making him a necropolitan, and spellstitching himself, but I'm not sure how that would work since he doesn't have a body...)

Another thing I thought of: how are you going to handle buffs when I change bodies? Will they all go with me, stay with the body I cast them in, can I choose which stays and which goes, or something else?

SDK: With Apostate you must make saving throws when appropriate. Sucks, but I suppose that's sort of understandable.

Great. Some spells aren't as cut and dried though, such as Consumptive Field (buffs caster level, Str, and temporary hit points). Are we going to make a case by case determination when they come up? Or will the effects be split, with mental ones going and physical ones staying?

Dispater is technically not a deity, and neither are Elder Evils. So they can't normally grant spells to clerics who pray to them. Dispater can in this game, though.

I don't know if it qualifies as "help", but I basically made a list of body slots, and went through books finding stuff that seemed useful//appropriate to fill them. 

I.E, headband of intellect for my head, eyes of the eagle for the eyes, etc.

The MiC is particularly suited for this method, as the back of the book has an index of the items sorted by body slot.  The DMG, you just gotta read the entries.

Also bognes, I believe Tshern meant that there are no* requirements, not now*

I don't have the books necessary, but I'd like to use the Elder Evil devotion. Could someone PM me anything not covered in the online excerpt for the following feats: Harvestor of Souls, Evil's Blessing (what kind of action is this?), Dark Speech (lots of stuff left out on this one... ), Apostate (action type? Tshern said something about a saving throw?). Thanks.


Also, any suggestions on spells prepared? I'm not crazy about some of the ones I have down, but don't know what to replace them with. I'm not all that familiar with alot of the stuff from newer books (or even ones that aren't that new... ). I'm pretty much done, I think, otherwise. Some spells I only prepare on odd days, and others on even days, due to buffing with spells that have 2 day durations...
