Btw, I've got a bunch of pictures. More or less worth putting online, but I just don't have the incentive...

So, I've started working on what spells I typically would have prepared and found out that all but one of my level 4 slots are spent on persistent self-buffs. What do you guys think, lose the Ruin Delver's Fortune spells? That will reduce my saves by 3 points, cost me Evasion and immunity to poison and fear. In return I get back 3 level 4 spell slots per day. I think I should do it, any reasons why I absolutely shouldn't?

How about I just persist (or cast, if you can persist other people's spells, I always forget how that works since I never play arcane casters, let alone incantrixes ) Recitation. Anyone that worships Dispater gets a +3 luck bonus to AC, saves, etc which covers most of ruin delver's worth. +2 if you don't worship him still makes it worthwhile Big Grin

I've been toying with an idea of throwing in another custom character, an archdevil. I need to consider that and I take opinions on this idea. I have a story for integrating him/her to the campaign and I even consider the story to be quite good.

Off-topic: My god, I am checking out the pictures I've taken and others have taken of me during the rock festival.

Pics or it didn't happen

And Aftercrescent, Recitation sounds good Smile
I can only Persist it for you if you're an arcane caster though, so I think you'll have to Persist it yourself if you'd be willing to Smile

So, how about some critique and tips towards my current list of prepared spells since this is my first time playing a wizard (not counting my Evoker 'SFX archer' )?

1) Grease x2, Benign Transposition x2, Nerveskitter x2, Silent Image x1, Expeditious Retreat x1 (Domain)

2) Web x2, Glitterdust x1, Pyrotechnics x1, Heart of Air (self buff), Swift Fly (self buff), Levitate (Domain)

3) Sleet Storm x1, Haste x2 (including Domain), Dispel Magic x1, Heart of Water x1 (self buff), Greater Mage Armor (self buff)

4) Solid Fog x2, Greater Resistance x1 (self buff), Heart of Earth x1 (self buff), Ray Deflection x1 (self buff), Polymorph (Domain)

5) Cloudkill x2, Heart of Fire x1 (self buff), Greater Blink x1 (self buff), Baleful Polymorph x1 (Domain)

Note: The spells labeled 'self buff' have already been cast as, you guessed it, self buffs. The spells labeled 'Domain' are the ones I get for free by virtue of the Transmutation Domain (Domain Wizard ACF).

Edit: I'm also thinking about changing my race from Tiefling to Gray Elf (with the Otherworldly feat) to pick up the Elf Wizard Racial Substitution Level for one extra 5th level slot per day since I'm a generalist anyway. The Initiative bonus with the Hummingbird Familiar (if Tshern allows that one since it's a familiar option presented in Dragon Magazine) is pretty nice as well. Any thoughts?

Are you using Polymorph to get fly speed? If not, then take Overland flight or something, as flight is awesome. I am also a huge fan of Anticipate teleport, but that's just me. For sixth level spells (you ought to get those) I ALWAYS pick Superior resistance and Freezing fog.

Heck, to make it simpler, here's what I'd suggest per level:
1. Ray of clumsiness
2. Escalating enfeeblement (works wonders with Ray of clumsiness, I can tell)
3. Anticipate teleport, Ray of dizziness
4. Assay spellresistance
5. Overland flight if you can't fly somehow
6. Superior resistance, Freezing fog

No to the Hummingbird, I don't have any access to Drag Mag.

I have Swift Fly persisted, and Polymorph is there because I get it as an extra spell prepared because of the Domain Wizard ACF.

Thanks for your list of favorites BTW, I think I'll adapt my list somewhat.

Now about that Hummingbird, what if I can provide you with the stats from an online resource or perhaps provide you with a digital copy of the relevant Dragon Magazine? (I figured I'd ask, not trying to nag or anything Wink)

Still now, unfortunately. I was just about to post that Drag Mag is a no-no in all cases. I still warmly recommend Escalating enfeeblement. My DM almost threw me with his PHB when I hit his BBEG with Ray of Clumsiness (rolled max damage) and Escalating enfeeblement (rolled max damage again).

Ok, but still, I wonder if Elf Generalist would be worth it...
Any thoughts from any of you guys?
Maybe know some good familiar replacing ACF's for generalists?

And I'll probably include Escalating Enfeeblement, Tshern, thanks for the tip Smile

Also, hurry up with those festival pictures, man

2) Web x1, Glitterdust x1, Escalating Enfeeblement x2, Heart of Air x1 (self buff), Swift Fly x1 (self buff), Levitate x1 (Domain)

3) Sleet Storm x1, Anticipate Teleportation x1, Heart of Water x1 (self buff), Dragonskin x1 (self buff), Haste x2 (including Domain)

4)Solid Fog x1, Assay Spell Resistance x1, Greater Resistance x1 (self buff), Heart of Earth x1 (self buff), Ray Deflection x1 (self buff), Polymorph x1 (Domain)

The list looks good, Bowen...

I'm currently persisting Divine Power, Righteous Might, and Lesser Infernal Transformation, which eats all of my turn attempts...

We may have to do without Recitation for now (until I get more nightsticks). Do you have Superior Resistance up?

Thanks Aftercrescent. I think we can go without Recitation for now, shouldnt be that much of a problem.

I currently have Greater Resistance (+3 bonus) up, since I don't have 6th level spells yet. Next level will see Superior Resistance though Smile

Say, do you have any thoughts about going Gray Elf for the Elf Wizard Racial Sub levels? It get's me one extra free spell known each level and one extra highest level spell slot per day. Do you think it's worth losing 2 points of constitution and 1 feat (as I will want to fit in Otherworldly then)?

Have you thought about becoming undead later? If you plan on it anyways, the elf con hit doesn't seem so bad right now. I'm not sure what your plans are...

Undead is definitely a no-no, it just doesn't appeal to me at all.

My ideas so far are just really a generalist wizard, with some buffing capability (Haste, Polymorph etc.), some BC (Web, various fog and cloudlike spells etc.) and some Debuffing (Ray of Clumsiness+Escalating Enfeeblement). Later on (once my level is up to par with the rest of the party and DCFS becomes available) I want to focus more on Debuffing and SoD's.

Mmh, since Tshern axed the Hummingbird Familiar and it would cost me another feat, I think I won't go the elf route after all, I'll stick to my fiendish ancestry instead of playing a fairy pretending to be badass

Tiefling all the way, baby Big Grin

~Bowen

EDIT: Anyone have any ideas on what the best choice of item would be for my Item Familiar?

Man, this thread is deader than Michael Jackson's music career...

Anywayz...

As far as my character goes,
damn, that spellbook turned out to be expensive...

So, I've got almost everything done, all I have to do now is decide which item will be Item Familiar and on a name

Suggestions on both parts are more than welcome Smile

I try to come up with names for lots of my characters. But I'm not above googling for inspiration. It depends on the character/concept
