Well, I am working on some characters for the giant in the playground low level dueling arena, and I am trying to make a character that will be able to get into Anima mage by level 3 (not sure if it is productive though). Failing that, I at least want a strong and creative Wizard or Sorcerer. I am really hoping to try to get some ways to get multiple second level spells from level 1. Here is what I have thought of so far:

Raptoran Sorc with RotW sub level, Precocious apprentice: Augment Familiar and Versatile spellcaster - Get a CR 1 air elemental as a familiar, cast augment familiar and let it kill everyone. This is kind of light on defense and is feat tight. Could be a fun character but I don't see it getting into anima mage.

Human Sorc, PA: Alter Self, Versatile Spellcaster and familiar swapped for animal companion (horse). Turn into Half-Ogre, horse becomes a bear and go into melee. Or turn into an air goblin, horse becomes dire bat, fly up and pew pew with crossbow.

Metamagic/Ray Specialist? Possibly strongheart halfling or azurin, get PA: Seeking ray or Ray of Stupidity and then something like Split ray or the feat from Lords of Madness that lets you store spells in your eyes. Find ways to get metamagic cost down to +0, then hit them with a double Seeking ray for 8d6, possibly add on precision damage from malphas for 10d6.

Hydralisk: Get PA: Investiture of the Spined Fiend (Fiendish Codex), probably versatile spellcaster and again trade the familiar for an animal companion. Cast Investiture of the spined fiend on self and animal companion, add in Malphas' sudden strike and invisibility to get them flat footed and add an extra 1d6 to each attack. So 2d6+STR x3 + 1d6+Animal Companion's STRx3, potentially for several rounds.

An archivist could kick serious ass by getting Cleric Domain spells and spells from halfcasters early... problem is that the GMs specifically said that Divine anima mages are not allowed

With all of these builds I can probably use Launch Bolt with gargantuan bolts for an easy 3d6. The only trouble might be making the concentration check while riding, and getting enough attack to consistently hit AC18+ characters.

These are just some ideas I had so here is the challenge: Help me build a functional character from 1-4 from any wizards material that can kick ass at each level. Keep in mind skill and feat retraining is allowed (as per PHBII), but expensive.
-32 point buy
-Base classes being considered are Sorcerer, Wizard, Wu jen (I don't think wu jen gets enough spells per day to make this work, but at least I would autowin initiative), along with a dip into binder at level 2 (and I will either add on a flaw at level 2 to snag Improved Binding or get it at level 3)
-Can cast 2nd level spells from level 1, preferably multiple times per day with some accuracy
-Will have 4 ranks in Intimidate and Knowledge: The planes at level 2. Preferably also 4 ranks in bluff (for Naberius), 4+ ranks in Concentration, bonus points if I can fit in a good Tumble, UMD or UPD
-Forgot one important thing: Also needs to pick up a metamagic feat by level 2. Sudden Extend is the easiest thing I could think of.
-Also 2 flaws and 2 traits. I was also thinking Dread Necromancer but I am not sure how to really make it strong.

Ardent/Binder/Anima Mage (psionic adaptation) with Bloodlines = insane

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

They aren't allowing divine or psionic Anima mages in the arena tourney Sad

I don't fully understand bloodlines yet. Is it like a feat that gives you increased caster/binder level + the perks? They aren't actual templates though right?

Binder level includes all "the perks" inherently. So does an Ardent's manifester level. That's why bloodlines are sooo insane with them. And they add to each independently, and arguably multiple times in that build. It can get broken fast.

OK here is what I think the build will look like so far

Strongheart halfling focused transmuter, Familiar swapped for Animal companion (riding dog trained for war), scribe scroll swapped for fighter bonus feat

Feat 1: Precocious apprentice: Investiture of the spined fiend
Halfling bonus: Shape soulmeld: Rageclaws
Flaw (Murky Eyed): Sudden Extend Spell
Wizard Bonus: Improved Initiative or MWP: Lance or Bonebow (Is there a souped up, exotic version of the lance?)

4 points Concentration
4 points Knowledge the planes
1 points tumble
2 points handle animal
2 spellcraft
2 points ride

Level 2: Binder, add on a flaw (probably poor reflexes or pathetic wisdom) for Improved Binding
-5 skillpoints, 4 go into intimidate, 1 into concentration. Retrain 2 points handle animal for 4 points bluff

Level 3: Anima mage (not sure what feat)
2 points back in handle animal most likely, 1 point concentration

Level 4: Anima mage

I am considering picking up momentary alteration since I have a spare feat. Are there any 1 HD humanoids with powerful build so I could have a grappling form?

Not humanoids, but there are Goliaths (Monsterous Humanoid, +1LA) and Half giants (Giant, +1LA).

I am constantly amazed by how many DM's ban Tomb of Battle.  The book doesn't even exist!

Why would you even do this? It hurts my eyes and looks like you ate your keyboard before suffering an attack of explosive diarrhea.

If using Genesis to hide your phylactry, set it at -300 degrees farenheit.  See how do-gooders fare with a liquid atmosphere.

Dragonwrought kobold -> dragon type ->RotD P.4 Grandfather clause -> Early cherrypicking of dragonblooded racial sub levels -> early second level spells known (Darkness or Fog Cloud, and resist energy).  You pay later, but get benefits now.
