Ignan. Aw, no love for Roper? A more obscure language is not to be found in DnD.

Also, try to figure out how your characters know each other. You will be starting together for simplicity's sake.

Roper is the language exclusive to tentacled rocklike monstrousities that don't do much but kill sentient humanoids. Vote for the future, vote for the tentacle monsters.

I just found out that my best DnD language rant is out of date, as per the SRD Ropers now speak terran and undercommon. How uncool, my first character actually spoke Roper, I built with a program and wasn't being very discriminating as I went through the language section. Aww, well speaking a language only understood by some frog people sounds nice.

Explains why I couldnt find a record of this Roper language. No fun for the DM if theres no way he can have NPC`s listening in without metagaming. x)

I'm down for a Monday start. Does anyone have any ideas as to how all these characters have gotten together? All I can think of are the fairly cliche tavern, mercenary, or childhood friends concepts, which can work, but if anyone has some more inspired ideas feel free to share. Or maybe, as children we meet in a tavern, became friends, and started a group of mercenaries?
Edit: Should I make my character sheet as if I was already attuned to an ancient technique? An era (one I can attune it by taking ten)?

Well, having lots of evil chars in the group, with kinky names like historian and ritualist, how about we are part of an ancient cult whose ultimate goal is to find some great source of evil power that was lost long ago? Makes for good hooks, and it seems plausible that evil Historians and Ritualists would have this as a common goal, if they knew about it. The ritual warrior could be a guard, Slicer (me) a mercanery, or part of the cult, but from another caste, that seeks power by other means. (means to an end, the end being the same power as the rest) The Echocaller would be there to take care of more practical things like assassinations. If we have a Martyr, he could me a mole\sleeper agent, looking to destroy this power to prevent us from abusing it should we ever find it.
Thoughts?
