Edit: Should I make my character sheet as if I was already attuned to an ancient technique? An era (one I can attune it by taking ten)?

Saying no would be like saying the fighter cant start with his armor on, wouldnt it?

In that scenario, Roy would probably be the martyr mole's partner/bodyguard. Or a second mole/sleeper agent unawares of the first.

How about just a source of power we all wish to find? This gives a reason some of the neutral & good characters would be involved. Maybe an artifact or temporal/ritual power booster.

Riffing on one of the artifacts, maybe it was owned by a civilisation lost in the annals of the past. The Ritual characters want the artifact, the temporal characters want access of the lore/slices of that civilisation.

If it doesn't have it, then no, they are not. These are always open to changing.

That works for me, I know my character would love to get his hands on that sort of power. And if a historian isn't going totally gaga over lost civilization lore then he's not doing it right

Strat, a few more questions  Smile

1)
The Historian, when he has attuned himself to a spellcasting technique, can cast spells using ancient magical techniques. The save DC of the historian's spells is 10 + Intelligence modifier + 1/2 the total number of spell points expended. Whether it is a Fortitude, Reflex, or Will save is determined by the spell. The range on these abilities is 20' per class level. Casting any of these spells generates an AoO as normal, and they use concentration for casting as does a wizard (casting defensively, concentration to maintain a spell when struck). spells have both a verbal and somatic component, and take a standard action to cast, unless mentioned otherwise.

I haven't been able to find duration on most of the seeds. 1 rd/spell point sounds good for most uses, byt some of the mind affecting stuff & buffs would have to be cranked up.

2) Can we take a 20 to attune ourselves to an era?

3) I know seeds and era's can't be effected or modified by non-temporal feats but can they be used to      qualify for feats?
ex. Feat has an unspecified range touch attack that deals ice damage as a prerequisite. If you have the right magical seed to do it, do you qualify?

Alright.

I'm not talking about spellcasting, just for generic requirements. For instance if I had   Warping Form: Your body writhes and contorts, assuming the form of another creature of similar size. You may Alter Self into a creature with hit dice equal to 1 per 2 spell points.

Lets say theres a feat that requires the ability to cast Alter Self, an alternate from of the shapeshifter subtype, would I qualify. Says nothing about the source of the power, nor does it specify spell, spelllike, SU, innate, anything, just that you can cast it. Still wouldn't work?

Thats what I think too, but gotta check when we're playtesting. I notice Strats been pretty clever by giving the mechanical functions of pounce, trample and flurry for some things, but never using that name.

Strat, another Hstorian question! This one's about Totem Charge/Totem Grapple. Are the animals you can Wild Shape into restricted by Historian HD in the same way normal Wild Shape is restricted by Druid HD?
