how we feel about things is derived from what we think of them (and how we have come to identify those things and what we have come to identify with).
as such, if you feel a certain way about a "thing", then that is indicative of what your thoughts are of them -- which is representative of our experience with those things.

conversely, if you have certain thoughts on a "thing", then, naturally, those thoughts generally lead to a certain set of feelings about that thing.

conclusion -- thoughts and feelings are often inter-related.

does that make any sense, or did I just miss the entire point of the question?

I think it's close. Basically, what I think about something and how I feel about something isn't always the same.

I may not have anything against, say, ballerinas, but still feel uncomfortable when one of them spins near me. Except it sometimes gets much, much more complex.

I would totally try both lutefisk and the rotting shark if offered.  Although I would prefer not to do so in the same night.  This is me, I have eaten things not normally considered edible because I was curious.

Q22:  Alright, I need some expert food advice, something I only rarely ask for.

I am cooking something for someone I like an awful lot.  I was thinking of a recipe I devised a long time ago.

I like to make a bed of leeks and olive oil, and put some catfish filets over said leeks and cook the whole thing together.  The leeks become nearly liquid and impart a really nice blended taste to the fish.  (I usually add cracked pepper to the top)

I would like a side dish.  I want to make something somewhat starchy that's both low in fat content and doesn't consist of more than 2-3 ingredients.  (I cook Gordon Ramsay style, I like simple recipes that are hard to screw up b prepared with skill).

Also, anyone have a wine suggestion?  Other than fish goes with white wine, I'm not sure what to get, and my personal favorite (Scuppernong) would be waaaaay to sweet for this dinner I think.

We have it here in Minnesota too. I have heard however that it is more popular here than in Scandinavia, which is odd.

As it turns out, there's a good reason why rice is considered one of the perfect side dishes for fish - it's easy to prepare.

One thing about white rice is that it doesn't look very appetizing when it's all sticky. Fortunately, there's a simple way around that. Add two parts water to one part rice. It'll literally be swimming; you can tell when it's done by picking a grain or two off and taking a nibble - if it's a little hard to chew, then it needs more cooking. Add salt to taste.

The good news about rice (particularly when cooked this way) is that it's VERY hard to mess it up. The other good thing is that thinking up a good addition or two to it is also very easy. You shouldn't need to go nuts here since it's a side dish, a few thinly sliced olives or peas and spices (make sure you pick something mild to complement the pepper that goes with the fish) can do the trick just fine.

Q.23: I now face the hardest decision I have ever made. Mark Knopfler and Nobou Uematsu play on the same damn day, at the same time.I have already bought tickets to see Uematsu but not Knopfler. However the latter is a god in his own time but to see him I must sell my ticket AND find a way to get to the other end of Sweden. So my question is, what would be the best argument not to go see Knopfler so that I might save some money and possibly have some friends come along?

Because Nobuo Uematsu is a god in his own right and if you don't go, I WILL excise your guts.

Further: in my experience, whenever you have something that is certain and something you could try to go for with a slimmer chance of succeeding, going for the latter is sure to land you with neither.

If it helps any, Metallica happened to do a concert right where I live and I didn't have enough money for the ticket, for which I'm sure I'll be regretting for the rest of my life.

Just... kinda think of me as a spiritual tag-along, because I'd rip someone's liver off with my bare hands to see Uematsu live.
