Try doing the Alpha Strike thing as a psion/totemist/soul manifester with the Share Soulmeld feat. Big Grin
Well... if I go with a Binder1/Egoist 8/Anima Mage 10, whomever fuses with the main character's duplicate will also get the benefits of (basically) being a 13th level binder and an 18th level Egoist. Big Grin

I might need a recharge setup if they start abusing my psionic powers much, though, since it still uses my power points.
Or you could go cerebremancer and share giant size with the entire party Big Grin
Oh god... the people wanting to grapple the Tarrasque would appreciate that, for sure. Big Grin

Unless someone else plays a psionic character and while everyone is fusion dancing you combine with them to use their pp.

You two are hilarious.

Phaedrus, can your trick work without Exemplars of Evil? It's not on the list of books for this challenge.

Hmm... I didn't notice that. Why isn't it?

Yeah, actually I think that is totally necessary, now that I think about it a bit more. The psion himself is the only one that needs not be flat-footed, and just being a minotaur is good enough for that. His duplicate would also have to manifest Gr. Metamorphosis to turn into a minotaur separately, so it will just cost more power points to do it without that book.

So in fact, this is possible using only XPH, MM1, and CPsi.

Another question: How are you dealing with divinations? Can we learn about the tarrasques we'll be going after using them (assuming we can pierce any magical protections they have)?

And will recharge setups be allowed? Big Grin A spellcaster with a staff of Mental Pinnacle could be used to refill the psion between fights... and it would only cost a single magic item, and a couple of powers known or feats (Feat Leech+Expanded Knowledge, or Bestow Power, and a Torc of Power Preservation to make it 1:1 efficient). This is also just technically (ab)using a magic item, and not an infinite loop (like where you get the cost of Bestow Power down below what it costs to manifest it).

And thrallherd is so freakin' uber, I'm considering going with one of those and just making this guy my bitch thrall. Then I can throw a Metaconcert into the mix to get gigantic amounts of power points, powers known, every feat in the freakin' book, and a +10 to my save DCs. Hell, I might as well just write up a higher level version of Eddie to use with this. Big Grin (It's really too much trouble to write all that crap up, though... so I probably won't do it...)

It is expensive, but this could be done 4 times per day.

For 1 fight:
Fission (13)
Fusionx3 (45)
Gr. Metamorp x2 (34)
Anticipatory Strike x2 (18)

Total: 110 pps (102 w/Torc, 94 w/Torc + Earth Power)

Fusion could last long enough for two fights if extended, but Fission won't, so that's a bust. Gr. Metamorph. will last long enough for two fights if Extended, though.

So for four fights, that's:

36x2 + 13x4 + 45x4 + 18x4 = 376 (Torc reduces this by 28, as does Earth Power. Items like Psicrowns could also be used.)

A Kalasthar Binder 1/Egoist 8/Anima Mage 10 with Int 34 would have 407 power points.
(280+19+108)

This could also be done with a Shifter Wilder (with the substitution levels that give them access to egoist powers), which would be very interesting. That would push the power points a lot further, and would synergize very well with the Binder abilities (which are all Cha-based if they allow saves). I think I might actually just go that route. Since all of this is done during buffing rounds before the fight (except Anticipatory Strike) the stunning from Enervation would actually be tolerable, and it would probably be worth Wild Surging fully (+3 in this case), since the power point loss is based on actual Wilder levels (not Anima Mage ). It would only have 10 powers known, which is a lot less powerful, but also a lot easier to build and play.  Smile

Nice Smile

Got my Wizard's Grapple check up to +84, or +86 if Inherent bonuses (Tome) carry over.

Need some more to reliably handle Big T though...

EDIT: Anyone know of some nice 25 HD or less forms with a Strength of 42 or higher?

Thanks, PI Smile

Also, got Grapple up to +88/90, slowly getting there Smile

EDIT:
Anyone got a 25HD or less form with Strength higher than 48?

Or some way to a get Luck/Insight/Sacred/Profane/Unnamed/some other kind of obscure bonus on Grapple checks?
I've already got BAB, size, Str, Competence and some unnamed stuff.

AC/SDK: Can I use the arms provided by the Girallon's Blessing spell to cast spells (somatic components and all that)?

Another question: So reducing its hit points to -10 and then sticking it in the cube is the only way to win? What if we hit it with a Flesh to Stone (or Crystallize...) or something else like that? We then have to smash the resulting statue?

A player once asked me if there was any way to make a Tarrasque more evil... 3 sessions later he was stoned with D20s as the PC led an exidus out of the path of a Dire Tarrasque of Legendary Wonder.

Okay, here come answers.

Exemplars of Evil doesn't fit with the challenge. It's a DM's tool for making evil NPCs, not for making PCs out to take down the Tarrasque. Shrug Just didn't seem worth it, so you'll have to make due without it

On divinations: You will be given the planes you're fighting on when you wake for the day. Then you have 2 hours to buff & cast any prepared spells before the plane-shift-to-gauntlet-land. If you have any divinations that can be prepared & cast in that time frame, you may use them. I will use a literal interpretation of said spell/power and play by the rules it gives. So yes, it might theoretically be possible to learn about the tarrasques before fighting them.

As for recharge setups... Honestly I'm not that familiar with high level psionics to make a ruling on it right now. How exactly would it work?  From my reading of Mental Pinnacle, the PP evaporate after 1 round/level.

Aaaaaannnnndddddd, we forgot about Thralls & Leadership. Thanks for pointing that out. Gonna talk to SDK about that, but don't get your hopes up, yet.

As for inherent bonuses: Physical ones stick with a form. So they won't transfer from human to giant octopus form.

On Girallon arms: I see nothing saying they can't be used. They have fingers and a thumb like normal, they're just a bit pointier. Go for it.

On stoning it: That's a good question.  Are you really expecting it to roll a 1 on its fort save?  I'll get with SDK and we'll come up with an answer for this one...

Cool, just need some help with those bonuses to Grapple, other than that I've got a basic build worked out Smile

EDIT: Extra Spell to add a spell to your spell list (either as a Wizard or an Ur-Priest), does it work?

Would the Hero Domain from Oriental Adventures be allowed? (if it matters, OA was updated to 3.5 in an issue of Dragon Magazine)

Extra Spell will work for that purpose. It actually specifically references Wizards, so you're good there.

But no, the Hero Domain (along with OA as a whole) is out.

The caster of Mental Pinnacle extends the spell, and then donates the power points to the Psion/whatever using Bestow Power before the duration ends. The caster temporarily "learns" Bestow Power through various means (the easiest way is probably that he uses a crawling tattoo of Feat Leech, steals someone else's Expanded Knowledge feat, and uses it to learn Bestow Power).

Yes, but there are some limitations involved(can't take different actions with your different hands simultaneously). Though if all you care about is holding an object and two hands and casting, that's fine, since two-handed people can hold an object in one hand and cast with the other. Unfortunately the Multitasking feat is not 3.5.

Just got this answer on the Ask A Simple Question thread:
Q255: Do Inherent bonuses to physical ability scores in your natural form, such as from a Wish or Tome, carry over to the physical ability scores of your new form when you use Polymorph or Shapechange?

Yes. Nothing specifically removes them, and they're "itemless" so they're perfectly fine.

Can I convince you to reconsider your verdict, AC? Flutter
IIRC I've got a similar answer a while back, but I can't find that anymore...

Figured it couldn't hurt to ask, and the +2 would really help me out Big Grin
