Solar's aren't a splat book... But I see your point.  Okay, I'm gonna be democratic about it.  We already have like 10-12 (I think?) people preparing for this. I'll make a vote/poll thing for a week. Sound good?
The solar isn't the basis for the argument that you get it. It's the hobgoblin from MM5. It is the only creature that explicitly says spellcasting is an Ex ability. Without that, the argument for it is incredibly flimsy and convoluted.

There's also the argument that states since it's not Su or SLA, it's a natural ability... blah blah blah. I actually hadn't heard the MM5 argument before. Good to know for reference, thanks.

But yeah, we'll just let the poll make the final decision.

If you remove maneuvers, spellcasting and sneak attack, the other things are already cool.  heck i was shapechanging into a solar already and I wasn't even gonna use the clerical spellcasting.

If you've got a divine caster, have them put it in a ring of spellstoring for you.

I'm seriously tempted to modify my build so i can get some incantatrix in, and keep my awesome archivist STUN.

Or just be the party's devastatingly good buffer and killer by just being a wizard/ war weaver/spell guard/incantatrix caster, or something...

As an aside I'll be alright if you ban spellcasting gain from Shapechange.

Edit:  I assume that Shapechanging into anything that breaks the action economy like Chronotyryn is banned?

Y'know, looking up this game had me thinking... Is there a planar Zoo somewhere?

That's more then 3 rounds! That's longer than an assassin's death attack. Sad

As for the Chronotyryn, Fiend Folio isn't on the list... Wink

Alastar, just make sure to bone up on errata for the Incantrix, if you go that route.

I meant things like that.  It's not the only creature that gets extra actions you know.   Tongue

Edit: The errata says "Page 63: Incantatrix Prestige Class
Please add the following sentence to the end of the
Instant Metamagic class feature description:
The incantatrix cannot use this ability if the
metamagicked spell would normally use a spell slot of a
higher level than she can cast"

I'm AFB right now, so I'll ask it here. Is 'Instant Metamagic' the ability that lets you persist personal buffs and the like?

Yeah, it's the ability that lets you apply metamagic to a spell that has already been cast and is currently active.

No it's not. Instant Metamagic is applied "on the fly" as you cast the spell, and is only useable like 2x per day. The Incantatrix has two other methods to apply metamagic to spells (1 to already cast spells, 1 to spells as they are cast). These are called Metamagic Effect and Cooperative Metamagic, IIRC. Both of those can be used like 1xInt Mod times per day, and require a spellcraft check. Those abilities weren't nerfed at all in the Errata.

Sorry, I didn't actually look it up.   Embarrassed

Phaedrus is spot on, except that Metamagic Effect and cooperative effect are 3 + Int Mod times per day.
