Hi, am I the only one who keeps reading the "New" link as part of the thread name? I think it should be a different color to make it easy to see what's actually new. Perhaps darker? Or orange? I'm not sure, my design-fo is low.

... Wow, it IS an image... well I sorta understand having it an image by default to make it easier to customize/skin. Still, having the option to make it a styled text element would be nice. Regardless, whether it's text or image, I would like to know if people agree with me that it should change?

From the Suggestions for the Boards thread... Is it possible to have the notification for new posts in the thread change a little? Maybe bold the word "New" that shows up at the end of thread titles or the like? Just something to differentiate it a little more than the normal thread title, I've passed over it 5 times in the last 10 minutes  I will look into this. I can't find anything to change the "new" either.
The modules that make that little "new" pic are for earlier versions of software and do not work with this version. I downloaded several and tried installing them.
So...it's being looked into, but without much success thus far. |

why is this difficult to change?
step 1. Go to boards/Themes/default/images/english-utf8/ (use ftp, file manager, ssh, whatever)
step 2. remove new.gif (or rename just to be safe.)
step 3. upload a new gif file into the same location and call it new.gif
step 4. (optional) Ctrl-F5 to clear cache and make sure the new image loads.
This is pretty much guaranteed to work.

I've done that several times. And it didn't change anything.
My best guess is to completely change the theme of the boards but I'm nervous about what that will carry along with it.

I just tried it all again and still nothing.
Part of the problem is that there is no "english-utf8" folder. There is a folder named "English" and one that is "English-British-uf8" and then a ton of images just in /default/images. I changed the "new" image in all of the above. But it's still not working (obviously).

Well, I think. I may have screwed something else up, but at least the link works now!
The problem was that the image was in a "english-utf8" folder which doesn't exist as far as I can tell. I found an "english" folder and made sure the image there was good, but that didn't do anything.
So I was thinking (a dangerous pasttime, I know)- I went into Server Settings for the board and changed the default language to "english" instead of "english utf-8" and the "new" image is now there!
I use firefox and when I logged into IE, I still saw the broken image-- no clue why it's still pointing to English utf-8, but if you go into your profile, account settings, you can select your language. English is the first on the list, but scroll down and there is another English choice (right next to English-British) and if you select that, the "new" image should work just fine!
