As the Doc says this, Max staggers up towards him-- but makes a rapid b-line to the deck rail before puking over the side. His body shakes, as if from being cold.

"I don't feel so good, Doc."

Richard ignores Max, some people just weren't built for war.  "Get us at the dock, I'll scout the area," he yells back at Bones.

Bones gives Richard a thumbs up. He begins to ease his larger boat in on the other side of the dock, and with Pingo and the Kid's assistance he is able to...

Russo stands at the prow ready to help with ropes or just generally make himself useful, he scans the jungle and the few huts and old steeple remembering what he had heard though he couldn't remember who had said about the missionary having something to do with that 'demon' or whatever it was

Richard gets onto the dock, walking towards the edge of it and looks around for danger.  He knows that the missionary is the demon, at least for all intensive purposes, and he doesn't want to get caught unawares.

Spot: 21  Doing a sweep.

Richard
The dock is made from cut timbers from the surrounding jungle, and tied into place with cord. It's surprisingly sturdy.

No signs of trouble. You see some basic stone structures. They appear top be pretty old, judging from their general disrepair.

Doc
Max continues to heave and vomit over the other side of the boat into the water. He's still shaking, and in between hurling you can hear his teeth chattering.

Frowning in concern, Loder checks Max's pulse and feels for a fever.

Treat Injury to determine what's wrong with Max (take 10) = 22

Loder grimaces.  "Great, malaria...  Max, you hang on, I'm gonna get my kit and see if we can't get you pumped full of drugs."

Loder rushes away to get the medical supplies as quickly as his injured leg will allow.

Eisen says nothing; the germans beat them here a second time; carving the cannibals might not have had such a promising effect. He'd hope they'd at least be tied. Getting his gear together, and cleaning himself up as they got close, he checked his ammunition, readied his jacket, bag, and rifle as he had during their last friendly exhibition, and went up on deck. As soon as the boat hit the deck, he pounced down, rifle ready, nodding to Richard. Moving slowly, keeping his rifle up, Eisen knows something's wrong. 'Why would they not leave someone behind? A scout? A guard? they must know someone's following by now, do they not have radio contact with base?' He looked around, trying to keep an ear open for the Nazi scum. Whispering to the group on the deck, he cautiously suggests "Be careful, I'm not comfortable with this. Everyone, try not to speak if necessary... it gives us a better idea when there's trouble..." The building at the front of the dock is the most obvious point of attack; Eisen keeps his eye and rifle trained on it, moving slowly forward to investigate...

The Sarge nods at Eisen and follows the German and Richard into town, keeping an eye open for any trouble.

Returning with his Medical Kit, Loder rummages through until he finds a syringe and the little vial of Chloroquine.  He measures the dose quickly, but carefully, and then gets Max to lay down on his back.  After injecting Max with the drug, he puts the vial back in the bag and carefully reapplies the syringe's cap.  "You need some bed rest and a proper hospital, Mr. Hawkins.  Unfortunately, your best bet appears to be the village here.  Don't you worry none though, I'll provide 'em with all the medicine you'll need to make a quick recovery.  Once you've recovered, you can either try to catch up with us, or we may be able to swing by on the way back.  I'm gonna go get your stuff, don't go anywhere, alright?"

Loder heads back downstairs to collect Max's personal affects.

Max looks pretty miserable, and at the mention of plenty of bed rest, his posture fell just a little.

The large building in front of them seems like an obvious point of attack, so Richard ignores it.  He investigates the smaller building nearby.

Looking around uneasilly Russo gives the haunting building a quick look the climbs back onto the boat "ehhh I need to give the girls a bit of seeing to, they have been fired quite a bit and they need a bath, you lot... um carry on" he was not in the mood ((or HP)) to get into another tangle with a "demon" this time around and that church steeple made him feel edgy and unwelcome.

Bones exits the wheel house through the door out onto the roof just behind it to take in the scene. He starts to speak about the place to those within earshot or interest.

"This is Machete Landing, a small outpost hacked out of the jungles edge. And it was originally a missionary settlement a good 20 - 30 years ago. No amount of praying or faith seemed to help those people.

"I don't even know how long ago they've been gone. This has been Machete Landing for as long as I've been traveling these rivers now.

"Barranca and Satipo SHOULD be around they won this place in a poke game 9 months ago. It's said that the previous owner tried to get it back, but hasn't been seen or heard from in quite some time. I don't see that  old geezer who lives in shack neither. Makes everyone call him 'dockmaster'. He normally sits leaning up against the wall of his shack over there (points to #4) on his front porch just glaring at folk with a shotgun in his lap."

Richard
Structure number four is a ramshackle one-room arrangement. Walls made of piled river stone, and shored up with wooden poles to keep the side wall from caving out. The roof was of dried river weed thatch, old planks, and jungle leaves. A front porch made of planks laid in the riverbank mud lay empty except for a spilled bottle of tequila.

Inside were a few chairs, a table, a hammock, and an ammunition box are the only furnishings within. There are a three empty tequila bottles aligned in a row along the back wall.

"Pingo, why don't you see if the old coot is in his steamboat, would ya? Thanks--" He gives a nod to Pingo.

Eisen
You approach what appears to be a supply house of some kind, Structure #3. It is built around four poles driven into the ground, with boards and branches nailed across them as wall planks. The roof was thatched. There were 12 crates inside, some stacked upon one another, but in no seeming order. It was a very sloppy job to say the least. 2 Large steel drums lay in one corner, and a large empty bin.

"I think that Old Docker, as we would call the bastard, had a deal with the brothers-- We know that he watched the storehouse for them, and we guessed they gave him as much tequila as he could drink. He watched the place if they had to go down river for some reason.

"Pingo, the Kid, and I have come down here for some rotgut from time to time. Sometimes we buys other supplies. Canned foods, medical supplies from WWI by the look of them, and other bullshit."

Sgt. Kestrel
On guard and looking about, you don't notice anything untoward. Everything is actually quite peaceful. The sun is out for the first time in days, sure it's unbelievably humid, and you got sweat dripping down every place you can. Behind you Bones rambles on about the place. Not VERY loud, but loud enough that you can just barely hear him.

"What are you waiting for Pingo. Get a move on. You know the reason you don't get a say is because you have no tongue!"
Bones gave a huge smile at that.

Content that the area of the first large structure isn't a threat, he decides just to move on. Skirting the village's north side - if a village it could be called, more like an outpost to his eyes - he runs by the well first. Heh, well, he'd tell the Doctor of it, see if he'd like to check this water too. Quickly, still cautious as all hell, he makes his way quietly as he can while rushing to the building facing the mission, the next best attack point, and closest to his position. About halfway there, he wonders why he went without backup...
