Don't overuse them, gem dice have a tendency to shatter more often than good plastic ones do.  I used to own a set of snowflake agate dice that I only used for special occasions before it was stolen along with my brass dice.

Gem dice work better when you roll them on a squooshy surface, so roll them in a padded box or something.

Thanks for the tips.  I generally keep my character sheets and pages of game notes in individual plastic sleeves, and roll on that.  The padded box idea isn't bad though, never have to worry about keeping it on a table.

Well, nobody likes having their bling dice go smash. And I've learned custom dice sometimes have an unexpectedly good bounce that can send them from a 6 inch drop onto padded plastic into a meter high drop off the tables and then 2-3 ricochets afterwards.

Well, maybe unless it's made of chrome steel or something.

My household now have 2 more inhabitants in the form of two cats. The day I can afford it I will build a large sphere with a perfect environment for a few platypi and live with them however, but they will do for now.

I went out and played hockey in the snow with some friends today; while more snow was falling. Fun times.

I was rear-ended today on my way to class. This is a good thing because a) I have no injuries worse than a bit of whiplash and b) we may finally be able to replace the 13-year-old van.

Drank good Scotch with a buddy of mine I only get to see once or twice a year (he lives on the other side of the country).  Swapped old stories and new ones, and he gave me a steel 'challenge coin' in the shape of a skull with a bullet hole in the forehead, inscribed "Face Shoot The Fuckers".

Did you slam on your brakes really hard on purpose?  Laugh

The USB controller on my motherboard went out, and I got a replacement that goes in the PCI slot. To my surprise, not only does it work for the slots that are part of the card, but it also "revived" all the original ones, too. Big Grin
