Tzidkayel is back in action and ready for a fight. He points his sword at enemy 'D' and his hand at enemy 'C'. The air seems to congeal for a split second, as he marks both 'C' and 'D' with his Aegis of Assault. Then, with all his might, Tzadky swings his sword, ablaze with fiery arcane lightning, at enemy 'C'. After that, Tzadky walks up to 'B', feints with his sword, and then hits 'B' in the face with the hilt.

Minor Action
Aegis of Assault:'C' and 'D'
Standard Action
Fire and Thunder:'C'
Attack:27 vs AC

Quick Out Of Character: "Michael, dazed means you only get one action per round, you are confusing it with stunned which means no actions in a round"

Tiandrex and Valldor both recoil from the assault they have taken, trying to regain their composure for another attack.  Tiandrex closes his eyes and focuses his strength, while Valldor hunches to the ground and prepares to evade attacks.

Actions:

Minor -- None
Move -- None
Standard -- Tiandrex and Valldor use Second Wind

Attack Rolls:

Damage Rolls:

Other Effects and Rolls:
Tiandrex and Valldor lose dazed status at the end of their turn.
Tiandrex Save vs. Slowed = 15, no longer slowed
Valldor Save vs. Immobilized = 10, no longer immobilized

If creatures attack Valldor, if needed i will use Defensive Posture to have him gain +4 to the defense being targeted.  If necessary i will also use Loyal Guardian to give him +6 to the defense being targeted.

Current stats:

Tiandrex, Winter's Guardian:
HP: 97/102     Surges: 7/8
AC: 31(+2) Fort: 25(+2) Reflex: 28(+2) Will: 26(+2)

Valldor, Winter's Guardian:
HP: 144/144    Surges: 2/3
AC: 30(+2) Fort: 28(+2) Reflex: 28(+2) Will: 29(+2)

"Goddamn, where did everyone go?" - Bill, who works at the workshop

Ashan latches his thorn whip onto an enemy, but they struggle for a few seconds, before the enemy yanks his way out of its grasp (failure). Gavon produces lightning, which surges at several enemies, striking two (success on C, E, failure on D). Tzidkayel then acts, and his first strike grazes one enemy, but his second misses his target (miss on both attacks, item power not consumed). Finally, Tiandrex and Valldor rest up, bracing for the next attack, which doesn't head for them but rather their comrades.

The first (D) steps back, launching a blinding orb of light at Tzidkayel (31 vs Fort, 8 damage on Tzidkayel, slowed (save ends), pushed to G3). The second (E) steps to the side, doing the same against Gavon (29 vs Fort, 8 damage on Gavon, slowed (save ends), pushed to J4 (saving throw to avoid getting thrown over)), flinging Gavon to the railing. The other enemy (C) suffering from Tzidkayel's mark also steps back, launching another orb of light (23 vs Fort), missing entirely. The last one gets in range of Ashan, giving him a jab (38 vs AC, 19 damage on Ashan and dazed until the end of Ashan's next turn), dazing the druid. The lightning dissipates around C, but doesn't around E (5 lightning damage)

4: Gavon
5: Tzidkayel

Valldor makes 1 OAs vs C and 1 vs E. Wind shifts to some undisclosed direction - a Perception DC 20 tells you it shifts to S again.

Still need Tzidkayel's character sheet, or at least the defenses, in the Character Sheet thread.

Gavon, flailing as he is thrown toward the edge of the deck and the endless sky of death beyond, manages to catch himself against the railing almost purely by chance. Fighting the effect that makes his body feel like he's trudging through waist-high molasses, he moves away from the edge. Focusing on the scene of battle in front of him, he opens a small pouch and makes a quick adjustment to his staff. For a moment, nothing happens, but then dozens of tiny clockwork insects swarm out of the pouch, filling the air around the combatants with a dense, flashing cloud of bright brass wings. They seem to recognize Gavon's enemies, attacking them with stinging bites, while leaving his allies alone. The biting quickly subsides, but the insects continue to harry any enemies that step into their reach by buzzing around their heads or catching under their feet.

---

Saving throw vs. falling off: 20

Actions:
Move -- Move to H6
Standard -- Clockroach Swarm, Close Blast 5 area defined by H7, H11, D11, D7, only enemies are affected. C, B, E are subject to attacks. The blast creates a zone that persists until the end of the encounter, any enemy within the zone grants combat advantage.

Attack Rolls:
C -- 23 vs. reflex
D -- 32 vs. reflex
E -- 27 vs. reflex

Hit: 14 damage, and ongoing 5 damage (save ends).

Saving throw vs. slowed: 17, Gavon is no longer slowed

Waste of a crit. *sigh* Do I still get to do other stuff this round, or does saving throw vs. splat take up my full turn?

EDIT: Added my other actions to this post, since no one else has taken their turn yet.

Ashan tweets, "Aim for the neck!" above the roaring wind, and twirls his whip in a circle. A torrent of water pours out, slamming into the constructs.

Standard: Tidal Surge, from E8 to I12 (close blast 5, all attacks vs. Fort)

vs. Valldor: 22 (if hit, slide to E7)
vs. B: 22 (if hit, slide to J8)
vs. C: 25 (if hit, slide to H10)
vs. D: 28 (if hit, slide to I12)
vs. E: 37 (if hit, slide to K12)

Hits deal 8 damage.

The bat quacks derisively, and Ashan braces himself against the railing as he is blown to H8.

The dice hate me... I mean, seriously? 3, 3, 6, 9... I know that I really only stand a chance at hitting E. At least I didn't hit Valldor.

Tiandrex and Valldor, having braced themselves against oncoming assaults, stand their ground as the tidal wave washes over them. As soon as the water hits the ground however, the crew members are surprised to see that Tiandrex has somehow moved to the other side of the ship and that the wolf Valldor has shifted his position, leaving one crew member completely open to attack.  Tiandrex releases two arrows coated in ice and tipped with a red poison.

Actions:

Minor -- Quarry Crew Memeber B
Move -- Tiandrex moves to B3, Valldor shifts to E9
Standard -- Use Thundertusk Boar Strike on crew member B

Attack Rolls:

First Attack vs AC -- 33 +2 (combat advantage) = 35
Second Attack vs AC -- 35 +2 (combat advantage) = 37

First Arrow vs Fortitude -- 30
Second Arrow vs Fortitude -- 17

Damage Rolls:

First Attack -- 21
Second Attack -- 22 +5 (if first attack hits from vulnerable cold)
Quarry -- 6

Other Effects and Rolls:
Crew member B is knocked back 1 square if the first attack hits or the second attack hits, if both attacks hit he is knocked back 1 + Wisdom modifier squares, which totals to 6 squares.   That would place him at roughly M14...off the grid.

Current stats:

Tiandrex, Winter's Guardian:
HP: 97/102       Surges: 7/8
AC: 31 Fort: 25 Reflex: 28 Will: 26

Effects --

Valldor, Winter's Guardian:
HP: 144/144       Surges: 2/3
AC: 30 Fort: 28 Reflex: 28 Will: 29

Effects --

"The recent politicization of Princess Aiyan's return, the 22nd to the throne, is sure to change the politics of the royalty..." - A scholar at the Tolner Institute in Karnassus

Duking it Out Aboard an Exius Ship

The party's attacks hit with ranging successes. Gavon's insects begin to chew out crew member D, creating a thin cloud of these tiny insects around the bloodied floor of the ship. Tzidkayel's blade shoots out, giving crew member B a nasty cut across its chest, while Ashan's tidal wave manages to knock back both crew member D and E. The latter seems to never make it back to the ship, as the water carries the crew member away (E is effectively dead). A crackle of lightning seems to mark his defeat. Tiandrex and Valldor begin to shuffle around, striking member B and sending him up to the railing, where he grabs on tight as his wounds are made larger.

Feeling the influence of the mark, all of the enemies direct their attention to Tzidkayel, attempting to bring him down (37 vs Fort, Crit fail, 25 vs Fort, 6 damage per hit, slowed (save ends), and pushed to J1 (saving throw at +2)). One of them seems to fire blindly into the insects, delivering a nice scorch mark into the floor, while the other two brandish ethereal blades similar to Tzidkayel's, throwing them at him.

1: Tiandrex

The way I'm running things is everyone posts, then I post, then we repeat this cycle. It's faster, and the 3 part cycle only applies to the first turn anyways.

Ashan's rolls might hate him, but his modifiers love him.

The first attack hits, but deals no damage. The second attack misses. (Tzidkayel is not pushed to J1, and is still at G3). For future reference, Tzidkayel's defenses are:

Reflex27

Gavon swings his staff into its sheath on his back and draws his crossbow. He mutters a few words over the bolt as he loads it, and glowing sigils flare to life along the weapon. He takes aim at the enemy still distracted by his swarm of clockwork insects, but his shot goes wide. "Throw him over the edge while he's distracted!" he yells to Ashan, remembering Ashan's earlier attempt to snag an enemy with thorny vines.

---

Actions:
Minor: Sheathe staff
Move (used as minor): Draw crossbow
Free: Load crossbow
Standard: Aggravating Force (Artificer at-will) against C

Attack roll:
23 + 2 (combat advantage) = 25 vs. AC (lol miss)

C is still in the Clockroach Swarm zone, so he grants combat advantage to anyone who attacks him.

Ashan glares at the crew member who attacked him, but then thinks better of it and decides to cooperate with Gavon. As the druid dashes over towards Tiandrex, he eyeballs the distance between Gavon's target and the railing.

"It's too far!" Ashan shouts, and he lashes out at the crew member's neck.

Move: Move to E2.
Standard: Thorn Whip, targeting C (specifically, C's neck) - 30 v. Fort.

If the attack hits but doesn't kill, Ashan will try to flip the crew member up into the air and towards the railing (Athletics roll: 26!). Yay, better rolls!

"Those Beruvian Pirates... they'll take your eye out just for lookin' at 'em funny." - Garthiel, a traveling musician

Battleship Exius!

As Tzidkayel, Tiandrex, and Valldor shape up their adversaries, Gavon's shot gives Ashan the perfect opportunity to latch onto the enemy's collar. The enemy's eyes widen, and it struggles to release the Thorn Whip's grasp. With a proper yank, it frees itself from Ashan, and they assault Ashan, with little regard to Tzidkayel's presence (25 vs Fort, 31 vs Fort, 28 vs Fort, 33 damage on Ashan and slowed (save ends), knocked prone at F1). Tendrils spring forth from their hands, and they strangle Ashan, bringing him to the deck of the ship. One of them steps out of the swarm of insects, as one nibbles on a crack in the collar. The enemy's agitation seems to only be aggravated by the bursting of the collar, and it flails violently, damming the flood with its hands. It doesn't stop, however, and something bursts forth from the fluid, warping back into a solid existence. Something clearly human, as it stumbles back into the insects.

Ashan stands up, rubbing a long gash on his arm. He tries to stagger away, but the force of the enemies' blows has left him reeling. Still, one thing is clear to him now.

"That's it! Go for the collar!" the druid shouts, and lashes out again.

Move: Get up from prone, get blown to G2 (assuming I'm at F1... the map is wrong)
Save: 12... woot.
Standard: Thorn Whip, targeting B's collar: 18... goddamn. Nevermind.

When the whip misses, Ashan curses loudly in Ulghite.

Tiandrex hears Ashan's advice and locks his eyes upon the target he has been shooting at.  His eyes fall into a deep calm, yet also convey a frigid sense of death. He lets the wind pull him across the ship, mastering its pull and adjusting his shots accordingly, releasing his first arrow right on its mark, and his second directly behind it, both of them covered in ice.

Actions:

Minor -- None
Move -- Tiandrex remains in B3 and Valldor moves to B9, both are blown after their turn.
Standard -- Tiandrex uses Twin Strike on B, aiming for the collar

Attack Rolls:

*Not sure if theres some penalty associated with aiming for the collar, but i think ill hit it*

Second Attack vs AC -- 36

Damage Rolls:

First Attack -- 23 + 5(vulnerable cold)
Second Attack -- 20 +5(vulnerable cold)

OOC: The following happens on initiative 0--this is the "?" character.

A hole in time and space rips open in the midst of the battle [E7] and a figure falls through, hitting the deck hard and dropping to its knees. It appears to be a woman. A LARGE woman. Over six feet tall, once she stands up, and perhaps a couple hundred pounds, not all of which are muscle. She has tan skin, short, spiky red hair, and a voluminous, dark blue cloak that she sweeps aside to reveal feyleather armor and boots, the straps for a haversack, and two fat rods stuck through her belt.

The mysterious stranger only needs a moment to take in the situation. Given a choice between teaming up with the ragtag band of winners or the organized squad of losers, her choice is clear. In Ulghite she calls out "I guess I finally get to see what you boys can do!" in the direction of the still-living enemies and pulls one of the rods from her belt. Taking a deep breath, she switches languages to something mysterious and addresses the enemies again in what does not appear to be a friendly manner.

Actions:
  • Move: Stand
  • Free: Talk
  • Minor: Draw "Righty"
  • Minor: Use Warlock's Curse on B, D

As a free action, Tiandrex stares at the newcomer, and feeling like she is a non-threat relays that information to Valldor.

To onlookers you hear Tiandrex whistle sharply, and the wolf turns its head at the newcomer also, focusing its gaze upon her, and as if understanding she means no harm, swiftly returns to growling at the enemies in front of him.

Gavon tenses slightly at the surprising appearance of the woman, wondering which side of the equation this new variable will affect. When she focuses her wrath on their enemies, he relaxes and laughs. "I like your style!" he calls to her as he moves to stand nearer to his allies, circling around the new arrival and away from the edge of the airship's deck. He draws another bolt and loads it, whispering a few words that make the bolt take on a slick, wet appearance. As he takes aim at one of the remaining enemies, the bolt smokes slightly and a drop of liquid falls off of the tip, burning a hole in the deck where it falls.

---
Actions:
Move: D4
Standard: Scouring Weapon against B

Attack Roll: 30 vs. AC
On Hit: 9+9+6=24 Acid Damage, and the target takes a -2 penalty to AC until the end of Gavon's next turn.

"Hold on. Did you feel that? It was like... if things just slowed down for a second..." - A Supraetan citizen

Ashan whips the vine around, attempting to strike the enemy, but it seems to get tangled up with Tzidkayel. He looks over, bewildered at the miss, and it causes the swordmage to halt mid-swing. Tiandrex, seeing the same weakness, decides to strike as well; the first arrow whiffs air, but the second one makes a nice scratch on the glass surface. Some of the fluid inside freezes, and the enemy staggers for a second, but returns with a newfound ferocity. To further infuriate the situation, Gavon's bolt seems to aim true, but the enemy almost cheats death by dodging upwards at an impossible angle. (All attacks miss except for Tiandrex's second, which does some damage.)

The ship cannons, which have gone somewhat unnoticed amidst the fighting, thunder through the clouds. A rather unlucky black dragon seems to explode in midair, its body collapsing below the party's line of sight, seemingly lifeless. For those on deck, the sound seems to ring incessantly, and some may have been unlucky (23 vs Fort, if hit, deafened for 1 round).

The enemies seem to be unphased by the cannon fire, and they look at the newcomer with inquisitive looks, before firing at the large woman (Crit fail (98%), 35 vs Fort, 13 damage and immobilized (save ends) on Confused). The second enemy seems to catch the large woman off guard, but the first seems to freeze in motion. As the liquid continues to solidify, the orb of light seems to expand out of control. In a flash of light, the first enemy explodes, as searing light is sent both at its comrade's way and Valldor's (25 vs Reflex for Valldor, 42 damage on Valldor, 84 damage for D).

A: Dead (X at B7)
B: 'Sploded
C: Dead at E6
D: Damage 118, Aegis'd
E: Flailing arms at K12 (dead), Damage 27, dazed (save ends - fail 5 lightning)

1: Tiandrex
2: Valldor
3: Ashan
4: Gavon
5: Tzidkayel
6: ???

Yep, another crit fail and a spectacular end. Imagine what it would be like at 100%.

Sorry for being absurdly lame the past week. Maybe the time of this post should clue you in as to when I actually can squeeze in time... .

As the second enemy begins to make his attack against the strange woman, a shadowy haze surrounds her momentarily and a dark, swirling tendril reaches out to brush the attacker before retreating. (Immediate Interrupt, automatic hit: 1 necrotic damage.) Once she has recovered from the attack, the woman launches her own back at the enemy: Concentrating and pointing with her rods, she causes a pair of ghostly hands reach of nowhere and fly to the enemy, strangling it for several long seconds before fading back into nothingness. (38 versus Will: 25 + 10 + 6 + 7 = 48 cold damage (attack + Warlock's Curse + Infernal Wrath + implement) + 13 fire (Infernal Wrath) = 61 total and D is slowed until the end of my next turn.)

Edit: Corrected where 6 damage from Infernal Wrath got counted. I'm slowly getting the hang of this.

Actions:
  • Minor: Draw "Lefty"
  • Minor: Infernal Wrath on D
  • Standard: Hands of Ihbar

I'm assuming that B attacked first and that therefore their crit fail results in them dying before D attacks. This increments Maud's Darkspiral Aura counter by 1, allowing her the Immediate Interrupt above . . . for 1 damage. Oh well. It would also trigger Rolling Curse, but there's no-one left to target. I'm within Burst 3 but didn't get hit by the explosion; was that intentional?

Assuming that the enemy survives until her turn, she makes the followup attack indicated above. I'm also assuming that D wasn't bloodied before I attacked. If D was bloodied, the to-hit increased by 1.

My Status: Immobilized, Deafened
Cursed: D

Rufei: I know you're busy and have trouble finding time for this; that's why I was offering to help out earlier.

Infuriated, Ashan doesn't say anything. He just swings his totem at the last remaining enemy, producing a spiked whip aimed at the jugular.

Minor: Quarry D
Standard: Thorn Whip D, 34 vs. Fort, deals 19 damage and moves D to E12. (Add 5 to that, forgot that I have 2d6 quarry damage now)
Move: (Slide to F3)
