You'd have to rehost that pic, TVtropes blocks direct linking.

has anyone been able to make sense of Gyarados having the flying type and not dragon?

Because in Gen 1 they only had 1 Dragon type Attack (Dragon Rage). Because it only had that move pool, they wanted to make the entire type seem hard to find. Charizard and Gyarados were originally going to be dragons, but the devs changed their mind in the process of making the moves and ended up only making the Dratini line Dragons.

Up until Gen 4, Dragons had the most limited move pool for STAB bonuses. Also, Gen 4's switch with how attacks worked made a lot of Dragons more powerful than they would have been (hence why Garchomp is banned, STAB bonus with a physical attack and an Attack power that high is what put him over the limit, despite his *4 Weakness to Ice and low Spec/Def).

In my opinion the only wave of Pokémon that was any good was any good was the first one. After that they ran out of fantasy and simply swapped a few maps, names and attacks and presto Pokemon 2nd wave (repeat untill concept no longer sells)

Meh. The first wave had the whole Psychic type as a game breaker. Even the lowly Mr. Mime was powerful if you knew how EVs and IVs worked. Slobro too. Mewtwo, Mew, and Alakazam were just the cream of the crop. And the latter Gens did make a few unique types of mons. Croagunk, Fortress (later trash coat Wormidam too), Heracross, you just gotta look for them. The meta gets stale if you just play Gen 1, as everyone runs Psychic types and almost nothing but (Articuno for dealing with Dragonite, that's about it).

The thing that makes me play the newer Gens is correcting my past mistakes. I'm breeding my mons carefully, and trying to track their growth so I can get a solid team. In a real battle, my top three mons would be thrashed by anyone who actually put some effort into their breeding, never mind that two of my top three are currently banned (Groudon and Rayquaza).

See, learning about the EV thing is what killed pokemon for me.  It's a fucking cheesy thing to do.  Yes, I know it existed from the beginning.  It's a stupid mechanic, and it needs to be spelled out 100% IN FUCKING GAME.

It actually turned out to be a lot funnier than I thought it'd be...

AC is a tad annoyed with me for causing flame wars.

But to be fair, I wasn't REALLY trolling, I was more like, "hey guys, let's all laugh at people who are protesting but don't know what they stand for!" and then it turned into a whole political debate which was still kinda funny but with a sad flavor...

Saw it already, decided no when the shipping cost more than the case of soda did. They are expensive to ship to Florida.

A gygaxian dungeon is like the world's most messed up game show.

Behind door number one: INSTANT DEATH!
Behind door number 2: A magic crown!
Behind door number 3: 4d6 giant bees, and THREE HUNDRED POUNDS OF HONEY!
They don't/haven't, was the point. 3.5 is as dead as people not liking nice tits.

Sometimes, their tits (3.5) get enhancements (houserules), but that doesn't mean people don't like nice tits.

Though sometimes, the surgeon (DM) botches them pretty bad...
Best metaphor I have seen in a long time.  I give you much fu.
Three Errata for the Mage-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Barbarian-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Monks doomed to die,
One for the Wizard on his dark throne
In the Land of Charop where the Shadows lie.

I must have this.

It makes me giddier than Tentacle Grape did.

Also, their Thanksgiving combo pack was the most disgusting evar, but all the sodas did actually taste like what they were labeled...

Proof that freedom isn't free at all. That's almost as bad as the Chinese government censoring stuff...

Seriously, I'm thinking about moving. Somewhere where I won't be 100% screwed over because I was a former American.  Mad
