This is probably the wrong forum for this, but does anyone else have a subscription to D&D Insider?  They've released the Psion as a complete class (not a playtest class).  They say it is quite different from other classes.  Power points haven't gone away, augments haven't gone away.  I like the idea - in theory - very much.  I haven't looked at it myself yet.

I don't have a subscription, but I've read some comments over on WotC.

From what I gather they don't get any Encounter Powers, but instead get more At-Will Powers which they can then augment by using Power Points.

The idea itself sounds interesting enough, but I can't comment on the execution of said idea Smile

I can see that.

You have At-Wills A, B, C, and D. You get X PP/encounter, and you can spend Y(usually 1) PP to apply an augment to one of your powers. Augments are chosen instead of encounter powers. Dailies...might still be dailies, or very powerful and very expensive augments.

At least, that's how I'd start designing something like that.

Just read some summaries. Interesting mechanic; instead of actual encounter powers you gain more PP and better at-wills. You then spend PP (in various amounts) to augment your at-wills to better and better effects. No mention of dailies yet, though.

Nice to hear they're mixing it up a little. I liked the idea of rages and forms for the Barbarian and Warden, respectively. It's different from the vanilla attack, attack, attack in most classes. Smile

I love the idea, though - I'm going to play with it later today when I get home.  I'm glad this is one prediction I made (privately) that came true.

Agreed. Shame all the "fun" stuff is coming out in later supplements, but I can see why they'd want to play the first release rather safe in terms of design experimentation.

And the things it reflects in, like water or glass, can all be broken, right? Since the moon you see in the sky is just being reflected in the heavens, if you tear open the heavens it's easy to break it~"

Y'know ... it's very suspicious that Psionics whatever edition, is being accepted RIGHT OFF THE BAT !!
There's something wrong with the multiverse.

I like how they're getting a little braver.  I loved psions in 3.5e, but for reasons that aren't going to be obvious in combat rules.  I hope I like it when I have time to read it.

I can't wait to see what they've done with the other disciplines, as we've only got a taste of Telepathy. I assume they're going to do one, maybe two more and leave the rest for Psionic Power, which is inevitable. I like the powers I've seen, and the at-will/augment system looks interesting.

Now I just need to see one in action. Smile
