Mostly Irish with a bit of Welsh and full American on my mom's side.  As in Pennsylvania Dutch all the way back pre revolution.

Quick question, why are people listing nationalities from countries they have never lived in?

My family hasn't lived anywhere but in the USA for five generations on my father's side and I have ancestry literally crossing the bering strait from Siberia ages ago.  My nationality is American.

I could list ancestry going back to the dawn of time, but I don't see how it's relevant.

Because that's what was asked for? Because we have family in those countries, even if we've never been? Because many people consider themselves to be of that nationality, ethnically speaking?

My father's family came from Germany, but ethnically and culturally I'm American, and I would stick out like a sore dick if I ever went to Germany.  I'm not German, I don't speak German, I don't act German, I don't really know anything about Germany except what my friend Federico told me from when him and his family went to Bavaria during Oktoberfest.  Which is perhaps not a good time or place to judge the German people.

Ethnically and culturally, I'm 100% American, for better or worse.

Well, in all fairness I actually DO have family outside the country, on both sides. Sure I was born and raised brazillian but I seriously don't identify with my country's culture.

I don't really have a choice in the matter.  I'm American, my speaking is American, my mannerisms are American, my manner of dress is American.

I don't appreciate the whole "blame everyone else" culture America has developed, but I really wouldn't fit in anywhere else.

I've been to Iowa, New York, and Toronto.

Iowa people are weird, people in New York give me the impression that I intimidate them, and Toronto people are freakishly friendly and it made me feel weird.

Two of those cities are in the same country as I am, and the third is still very similar.

I do plan to do some overseas travel, but that's a few years off.  Right now, I'm so broke I can't pay attention.

I live in Virginia, and I hate it.  I am going to college so I can live somewhere else.
I'm moving to Virginia in 3 weeks.

Right now, I'm in Albuquerque, NM, which is basically Freak Mecca, from what I've seen in my two years here...

Charlottesville is expensive as fuck, was created long before Urban Planning was an idea so don't expect to be able to get anywhere without a native guide until you've been there a few decades, and beware:  Although Charlottesville is really a nice place despite the issues it has, stepping outside exposes you to the retardation field that most of Virginia has.

However, you will me moving out of the city that my Ex has moved to, so you'll notice it doesn't smell nearly as bad.  Last I heard she was living outside Albuquerque in a sand skiff.

USA > California! > San Francisco/Pacifica/Benicia, dependant on if I'm at my home, my families, or my girlfriends (that third to be amended soon).

I'm 100% Californian-American (the cool state, where the good porn comes from.  Big Grin It needs separation), but my ancestry is 50% Irish, 15% English/Scottish, with the last 20% being Norwegian, Finish, and Portuguese.

I've never understood why Americans (from the US) seem to leave out American in what their ethnicity is. Someone from Germany is German, someone from the US is American (I know, technically other countries count as American too, by continental association, but hey).

Oh, and to add:  In Williamsburg there's a really cool theme park called Busch Gardens.  It's a european-themed theme park that's well-maintained, had shade, and also has great shows.  The food p[rices are a bit high, but the food tends to be really good, and there's actual sit-down restaurants in the park that serve beer.  Let that sink it:  you can get a beer at the park.

Virginians don't go there, because when it opened 20 years ago it only had 1 roller coaster, and the idea that they might have built more in the past 20 years is honestly beyond the typical Virginian's mental faculties.  It in fact has several big roller coaster, as well as multiple carnival-style rides in every section.

I recomend Escape from Darkastle, Apollo's Chariot, and Alpengeist.  Escape from Pompei is a typical splash-flume type ride with pyrotechnics (seriously, it's actually pretty cool), and I recomend checking out the cheesy 3-D movie theater they have near the entrance.  It's a hoot.

Downside:  one-day tickets are expensive, season passes are literally only 5-10$ more than the one-day ticket.  They make their season passes surprisingly cheap to get repeat visits, because they're smart enough to know that souvenirs and concessions is where they make their money, not ticket sales.
