I'll get some more character ideas up later this week, working out the stats helps me get a better idea about what I eventually want to go with for my final character Smile

Any final decision on the TM thing yet? Personally I rather like starting out as a 'normal' bot and implementing the Transmetal thing as storybased reward and/or plot element Smile

Also, Pokemon can work quite nicely, I'll have to look into that Smile

yeah, TM can get rewarded ingame.

also, Zombie has bowed out, so we're down to two players.

Think we need to recruite some more then?
I'm still interested, but only 2 characters seems a bit on the small side for a Maximal party Smile

Shouldn't that be three players by the way? Me, Venn and Wooden...

Firstly, I would like to begin by saying Bah Weep Gran Nah Weep Nini Bong. Also I'd really love to throw my hat in as player four.  I love/d beast wars and am familiar with the storyteller system.  I like the maximal Idea but am fine going pred as well.  I have three concepts that I'll put past that i think fit the mold to varying degree.
Concept 1: A Phoenix.  Honestly, Mostly a big Red bird in beast mode with flame abilities in Robot.  Female, close range combat (i'm thinking flaming feather whip plus wrist flame thrower) with dots in repair and maybe security.  Personality is nebulous right now.  Name: ?
Concept 2: A kraken. No real adjustment.  Male, with part of the tentacles becoming dreadlocks.  He's got a jamaican accept.  Mix range/melee style of fighter (Shoot out grappling tentacles with either a pistol or shoulder cannons [god i love shoulder cannons]) Very high matrix and politics and animal ken.  Probably high stealth as well.  More comedic personality "No, I've seen this holo, the black bot dies first." Name: Dread Hydro?
Concept 3: A Giraffe/Tricerotops Fuzor.  Since Fuzor is only 1 point in generation, i'm not sure if it'll be okay or not.  Male, Mix Range/mell style (Super punch giraffe neck arm and a pistol.)  High Intimidate, athletics and primal urge, no animal ken.  Maximal protoform, but has been tainted with Predacon programming (thus the Warm/Cold Fuzor) and has to fight his predacon urges via meditation and calm.  Name: Redneck? Three hole punch?

This is what i've got so far and am reading up on the beast wars rules.  Is any of this even remotely acceptable?

Woot, a fourth player Big Grin

All of them sound fine with me, although the Giraffe-arm reminded me of one of the later Power Ranger Megazords...

Weapons:
Brawl:
Tentacle (I'm using the Tail Stats (2 Long Feeding Tentacles in middle of body)
Form accessible: Beast Mode
Cost: Two points
Difficulty: 7
A thick tail, used for bashing or tripping opponents, does Strength +1 damage. A Cybertron who has purchased a tail as a weapon need only pay two points to use this same tail as a Whip in robot mode.

Firearms:
Automatic Machine Gun
Cost: One point for two
Difficulty: 5
Range: 50
Rate: 4
Damage: 1
It is typical for a Cybertron to purchase multiple machine guns, as they are fairly small and cost-effective. Machine guns are an extremely common accessory for spiders and insects, for whom they double as extra legs. If an automatic machine gun is being fired, consider every machine gun on the character's person to be fired, all at once, as a single attack. For example, a character who has purchased eight machine guns will have a total of 32 automatic shots available per round; 8 shots without splitting her dice pool. However, these guns typically do a smaller amount of damage than a regular firearm, so do not add attack roll successes to this damage roll.

Energy Weapon:
Fusion Pistol
Cost: Three points
Difficulty: 6
Range: 50
Rate: 4
Damage: 5
Energon Pool: 6
A simple hand-held weapon, easy to aim, quick to fire.

Demolitions:
Charges
Cost: 3 Per Charge (spent 6)
Difficulty: 6
Range: 10
Damage: 6
Charges are by no means distance weapons, as they need to be set ahead of time. A charge will effect an entire area—not just one target, so a Cybertron who sets a charge must leave the area immediately. Usually a Cybertron may decide how long to set the charge: whether it will explode in one combat round or a megacycle is up to the Cybertron who sets it. The charge will effect an entire area, not just one target, hence the "range" above, which is the approximate diameter of the area effect. This range may be effected by area energon. Charges are also useful for getting into sealed areas, destroying enemy weapons, and other uses of that variety. Roll Dexterity plus Demolitions to set a Charge. A Charge, once used, is lost until the next repair session.

BEAST MODE:
Strength:
00000
Dexterity:
00000
Stamina:
00000
Appearance:
00000

SPARK LOCATION: Center chest.

MERITS:

FLAWS:
Phobia (1 pt Flaw)
Deeply afraid of really big whales, especially while in beast mode.

Soft Hearted (1 pt Flaw)
Some more peaceful-minded Maximals simply cannot stand the suffering of others. Cybertrons with this Flaw suffer penalties whenever they see pain and suffering, and will do almost anything to prevent it. If this Cybertron witnesses suffering, the difficulties for all her rolls for the next megacycle increase by 2.

DEVICES: -
Cable launcher - Attached (Robot Arms)
Level: Two
A special type of firearm weapon, adapted to shoot a grappling hook or other type of cable. It is best used as a means of escaping combat or gaining advantage. The roll to shoot the cable is the standard Dexterity plus Firearms. The difficulty to find a hold and grapple to a higher location typically depends on the area: only 4 to catch the branch on a tall tree; 6 to catch a beam on the ceiling of a complex; 8 to catch a safe hold on a rocky cliff. Its maximum range is fifty feet, and it may only be shot once per turn. This firearm can indeed be shot at an opponent; the difficulty to hit a foe with the attached hook is 7; it does 4 dice of damage. However, a Cybertron who wishes to use this as a weapon must pay two Weapon Points for the privilege. (I did indeed spend said weapon points)

SPARK POWERS:

Well, That looks to be my rastafarian Maximal.  I think I've got everything correct, but if I've dropped the ball, let me know.

EDIT: Intened the performance dots to be in security.  Oops!

So you're going with a stealth/infiltrator role? Looks nice, it was kinda my favorite of the three ideas you posted earlier Smile

EDIT: If so, I'll scratch the Lizard and Ptero-bots from my first post as options Smile

EDIT 2: Somehow your bot is reminding me of Kit Fisto Big Grin

Yeah, I'm going with Cephalok.  After looking into the system and thinking about personality, he came together easiest.  I am a little worried about energon poisoning if there's no water neerby, but I guess that's what teammates are for?

What do you mean? Hide underwater to stay clear from any radiation?

More like if I'm in robot mode, and there is no water around for my beast mode when energon poisoning sets in, i flop around on the ground until someone throws my black chasis in a lake.

So, looks like Exileman is going with stealth/infiltration, I'll probably end up with a combat-bot of sorts, either melee (bear, feline or raptor) or ranged (bird, bat or pterosaur), with some secondary in repair/mechanics or scouting (and more dots in that once I get some xp)...

Do the rest of you guys have any (semi-)solid ideas yet?

After watching that video, my guy is A LOT like kit fisto.  Id feel bad but I never watch clone wars (nothing wrong with it, just no time) so I don't feel like I've ripped him off.

I still haven't had the time to really delve into the system mechanics yet, though it sounds like if we've got the brute and the sneak, we need someone with the brains, or speed (or both?). Not that your bots would be dumb, but someone more dedicated to knowledge. Maybe I can find a way to make my speed-reader. Big Grin

Originally, if we hadn't decided on monstrous animals, I was going to base my 'historian' or tactician or whatever on an owl, so if I can find a creature that fits that sort of niche, I think that will help a great deal.

Besides, a flyer would be useful.

I do have a question for those who have delved into the system a little.  It talks about energon poisoning, in regard to raw energon.  It says that it is caused due to prolonged exposure.  How long does this take?  I can't find it.  Also, are energon shields essentially required for survival?
