It was announced today- the next JiffyCon date- the annual "real" JiffyCon is June 6th in the glorious utopia of Greenfield, MA.  This year they are hosting it in a hotel (don't know which one yet) so there is room to stay if people are coming from out of town and they are hoping for a larger crowd.

We love JiffyCon- tihs is the con all of the indie game designers come out for (or well, the ones on the East Coast).  We don't have confirmation on who is attending, but I expect to see Vincent Baker, Joshua Newman, Epidiah Ravachol, Julia Ellingboe, Emily Care Boss and our very own Robert Bohl.

I think that's the weekend of my graduation and to show how much I like JiffyCon-- guess which one I'm going to?

That's less than 40 miles from my current locale.  Hopefully I'll be able to attend.

JiffyCon is one of those I keep hearing about on the more indie podcasts and it sounds like a blast. I don't know if I could make it but from what I've heard it sounds like a blast.

It is a blast.  We have Sons of Kryos to thank for introducing it to us.

I think Sons of Kryos might be where I first heard about it as well.

It just looks like too long of a drive for the weekend.

Here's a link to the Burning Wheel forums where I summarized The Gift scenario I ran at JiffyCon.  It stars our very own Josh and Meg as the Elven Ranger and Elven Loremistress, with TrapCast Jenn as the Dwarven Warden.

In short, it was awesome!  Big Grin

JiffyCon was SO much fun, as always.  We spent the night at Robert Bohl's house the night before- TrapCast Jenn was there too- for "Slumber Con June 09".  Played rockband- it was awesome.

For JiffyCon I played a storygame where you set up an action movie and had fun, and in the afternoon played Burning Wheel with okeefe as he mentioned.  I had a blast with it.  Still have some hesitations about the game, but they are more clear now that I've played and had fun with it.  Okeefe did a great job managing 8 of us!

The Burning Wheel write up is great.  I especially liked it when Josh offered me as the gift.

A couple of corrections though--

When we, the elves were watching the proceeding Dwarven tribes offer gifts to the Prince, in the very beginning before we even started, the Captain leaned into me, the Loremaster, and the Princess and asked, "Uh, do we have a gift?"  I immediately said that objects would pale in comparison to offering to finding the crown that the Prince's father died trying to find.  The Princess said she probably should've known about the plan beforehand (like in the year we spent getting to the dwarves) and I admitted my mistake.  I never once told the Princess or the Captain that I had just plain forgotten the gift- the Princess honestly believed that I had a plan the whole time.

When I asked around about the Crown at the game of chance, and found out the crown had been found by the uncle, it sounded like there was suspicion about an old man strolling in with the crown, so the Captain and I wanted to confront him to see if there was anything illiicit going on-- at least offering information about some sort of treacherous uncle could help them overlook we didn't have a gift.

It wasn't until the end that I admitted to my team out of character that my character just forgot the gift.
