I never said he died. He just got ingested by the Sarlacc. Admittedly, he got it to regurgitate him by detonating his jet pack, but he was still ingested at least two more times. That's got to count for something.

And the period where Boba worked on Concord Dawn was after his early bounty hunting days, around the time he married Sintas.

As for Jedi hunters, there's HK-47 and Atton, just off the top of my head. Granted, Atton is Force Sensitive, but he didn't use those abilities much when going after Jedi. It's not infeasible for someone to take down a Jedi just because they aren't Force Sensitive.

Agreed.

What book did you get this from I would like to read it - or was it a comic?

Boba Fett always had a vague, never clearly time-lined history in all the sources I've found (haven't wikied him though).

IIRC, it's from Tales of the Bounty Hunters. Also, Wookiepedia is a great help in these matters.

HK-47 is my favorite Star Wars character and favorite video game character.  Not just Star Wars games, but all games.

Anyway, I love Star Wars.   Other than the original movies, most of my exposure to Star Wars was actually Dark Forces.  By the way, anyone here ever play it?  That gem of a game didn't have a single Jedi or instance of force-using in it (Other than Vader saying "The force is strong with this one..." during the ending).  One effect of this is cementing the idea into me that a lot can happen in the Star Wars galaxy that doesn't involve a lick of Jedi involvement.  So far, all (two)of my SWSE campaigns have been scoundrel-y fringe-y games without a lot of emphasis on Jedi--though characters can play one no problem.

Tie Fighter was also pretty kick-ass.

Man, I need to find a reliable way to get all my old DOS games running; Dark Forces II, Tie Fighter, Alien VS Predator, Doom I and II, Return to Zork...  My childhood is collecting dust in my closet.  At least I managed to get Dark Forces I working with DOSBox.  I'm not computer-savvy enough to get others working.

Haven't played Dark Forces, but I played Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. The latter had better combat (I preferred the saberstaff), but the former had much more challenging puzzles. Often to the point of frustration.

Apparently they ran out of time to, you know, finish making the game.  I have a hard time imagining the mindset the producers' or whoever decides to halt a game's production to release on time.  I mean, do game companies really profit more with releasing an unpolished game than waiting three months to turn a game from excellent to stellar?

I love Star Wars. And, (bracing for the heat...) I seem to like the prequel trilogy more than the original trilogy.

The first time I saw Star Wars, yes - when I was a kid, I noted the line from Darth Vader, "There will be no one to stop us this time." and I always wondered who stopped them before. According to the crawl, this was the first rebel victory.

And then there was the mention of the Clone Wars. I knew back then Ben was hiding something- it was that look that conveyed SOME sort of thoughtful misdirection.

Okay, so why is the prequel better? It shows us HOW the Empire rose to power. In the first Star Wars we just have a message that the Emperor has dissolved the senate permanently, and that's it for the politics. Not to mention the lightsaber battles are faster and IMO, better. Heh.

And what people often forget is that's what Star Wars really is all about. Running around with Lightsaber and blaster and going "pew pew pew!". You're all too old to do that NOW without getting strange looks. The fun you had as a kid seeing the wonder of Star Wars isn't the same experience you have now. Back then, there was no internet to post your thoughts and share ideas. You saw the movie once, (or more than once) with your friends but you couldn't rewind it, or view it frame by frame. Thus, people would mis-remember what really happened. There's a Donny and Marie Star Wars skit on Youtube, and Vader says something to the effect of "By the power of my Force, I vow I will return!" It was bad. It was cheesy. It was fun.

Everyone and everything was on the Star Wars bandwagon. I don't think many of you even remember what that was like, but I do.

At first I was in the same line of thinking about how the prequel was bad until I watched the Muppet show with the Star Wars characters. Luke running around backstage yelling "Down with the Empire! Remember Alderaan!" is what brought back the memory about what the movie (and the series) was about. Again, running around with lightsabers and blasters. Smile

Ever since I was a kid, I always wanted a real lightsaber. Sadly, the closest thing I have is a replica. (Still quite awesome, though.)

I like Knights of the Old republic and Battlefront 2. My current favorite is the Force Unleashed.

I'm a big fan of Star Wars in a passive sense. I play the games and watch the movies, but that is it. My favorite character has to be HK-47, followed by rancor and the sarlacc. also, although I am a fan of star wars, I FUCKING HATE GEORGE LUCAS, the arrogant prick

I am a big fan of Episodes IV - VI. Star Wars was the only film I ever saw five times in a theater. I am also a big fan of the Star Wars SAGA game. There are several more of the books that I want.

Y'know, somehow I feel diminished in my Star Wars geekiness when I read this thread, to the point that 5 or more times out of 10 I can only IMAGINE what you guys are talking about.

That said, my favorite character is and always will be Darth Vader, followed by R2-D2, the real hero of the story. Also, I fucking HATE Anakin Skywalker. I have never found it more accurate a line than when someone says "Anakin died."

As for games, I actually did enjoy Jedi Knight 1 a lot, Jedi Academy not so much. And I really like Saga. I just wish the ONE DM we have for Saga wasn't such a PRICK. Apparently, he kinda hates the fact that Jedi can kill people with their own pew pews.

This part about the characters is just superb, so don't be afraid. Nevertheless, a lot of the cool characters are from the 'way back' era of Star Wars. Nomi Sunrider, Thon, Odan-Urr, Vandar Tokare, Revan and such are all really goddamn old when compared to the era of the Empire.

Sounds like fun, but I doubt I'll find half the material on them around here.

Same problem with me. I knew a fellow with an extensive Star Wars library though. Too bad I hate reading comics on my computer, so I can't download anything either. Sigh.

You know, I found this at the bookstore the other day.  I kinda drooled a bit, because I'm not very well versed in Star Wars knowledge (most of my knowledge comes from the movies, KoTOR 2, and the Episode 3 book).  Its hecka expensive, but MAN did it have a crap load of stuff in there.  I mean, its a freakin encyclopedia!

Kuro, you really should check out some of the Old Republic games on the PC or something, if you can.  They're cool, and you get to learn about Revan and Malik and other neat shit.

KOTORs don't deal with the most interesting times though. Or, well, the first one did, but the perspective was too narrow. Nevertheless, the games were astonishing.
