While that does at least kinda help, I find auditory enhancement to work (at least) as well...

Auditory enhancement can work well, if it's done correctly.  If it's done poorly, it's literally worse than nothing.

For example, if I'm watching porn, and there's some asshole behind the camera saying stupid things to the women and making dumb comments, I tend to just turn down the sound, I hate that.  I don't know who started it or why it caught on, but it needs to stop.

Cheesey jazz music is cliche, but it works better if the sound is obnoxious enough.

I find it hard to imagine sex.  For some reason, I have a larger suspension of disbelief when I wee it on TV than when I imagine it.

That reminds me of some comedian I saw years ago.  He said he restricted himself to only fantasing about women in his league.  I remember one of the "women" he'd named being Pippy Longstocking. Tongue
