The Paizo adventure paths are all quality and usually run from levels 1-16ish.

In 2e, there was the good ol' Night Below boxed set. It ran for quite a while (16th level, I think, is where you'd end up? Starting at 1st.)

I love that campaign.  I updated it to 3.5 a few years back and ran it for my group at the time.  They made it as far as the kuo-toa city before it all fell apart.  So close to the end, too.

Other long campaigns include:

The Drow Wars - levels 1-30 published by Mongoose as three separate books, 3.5 compatible
Mysteries of the Moonsea - levels 1-18 through 37 adventures, the adventures can be run together or broken up to add to it, a Forgotten Realms campaign
Rappan Athuk - starts around 4th level and can reach epic levels, has been updated to 3.5 by Necromancer Games
A Lamentation of Thieves - levels 1-12 with other material added for expanding it further, published by Necromancer Games, 3.5 compatible
Gygax's Necropolis - levels 10-18, includes some information to start a bit earlier and has plenty to expand upon, updated to 3.0 by Necromancer Games

Ehrm...still playing on an occasional basis in the campaign I've been in since I started playing.  That'd be...uhm...28 years now?

That is an amazing feat.  I'm lucky if I can play in a game that lasts a couple months, let alone years.  I'm curious, what level are you?  Also, have you updated to newer editions when they came out or did you stick with the original?

Hey, Slaughterhouserock, do you happen to have a digital copy of your update to Night Below?

Nah, I wrote it all on paper, never thought to put it on my computer.  Most of it was just finding updated versions of the monsters(most have been updated through the MMs, FF, and MoF), adjusting encounters to fit the CRs, and converting all the treasure.  Skill checks were mostly done on the fly, usually adjusting the DCs to fit with the PCs level at the time.  I didn't change much concerning the plot or NPCs though I added in some new monsters(LoM was a big help here).  I never got around to updating the aboleth section since my group stopped before reaching that part, so I'm not sure how that would go, but everything else ran pretty well as written.  All in all it was surprisingly easy to do, though considering the size of the campaign, it took awhile to find everything.

Eighteenth (this is a first edition campaign, and has stuck with first edition.)  At this point, to be fair, it can't really be called a campaign anymore; more of a "We get together once or twice a year and dust off the old characters."

I'm at that same point with a pair of campaigns that I've been running for 10 and 8 years now (the oldest ones started back 12 years, but have all come to an end).  We generally of dust off the characters, get through 1-2 combats or conversations, and then shelve the characters again for another 9 months or so

I own the WLD, Rappan Athak, and Drow Wars modules...but I don't want to commit to WLD, I didn't really like the Drow War campaign setting as much as I thought I would, and my players are too traumatized after Tomb of Horrors and Lost Caverns of Tosjcanth to play another Gygax module with me >=(

Return to the temple of elemental evil is levels 4-14, which is shorter than those already mentioned but still absolutely ridiculous.

Breaking the ninth wall

First campaign I ran started October 2003 in v.3.5 and ran for roughly eighteen months. We played from 3rd level to 15th level before retiring from the game. Played in Forgotten Realms, and the party looked something like this:
  • LG dwarf saint cleric 13
  • CG dwarf fighter 7/sorcerer 8
  • TN elf sorcerer 15
  • LN human monk 15
  • TN halfling rogue 3/wizard 5/arcane trickster 7

I intended to take the campaign into the Infinite Layers of the Abyss, but the group had already begun to grow apart. So we ended with the dwarf gish being overcome by a possessing demon and being transformed into the demon's new vessel on the Material Plane.

Yeah, it ended on a cliffhanger...

I ran a weekly game of the City of the Spider Queen Campaign that we started Late 2002 (i think) shortly after it came out and completed it in early August 2008. Granted the material in the book used as is should probably only take several months to game through but my player initially failed to stop the Great Revenence in time so Irae was able to march on the surface. So the game went into a very long War (which was just fine with my Tempus following players). My players ended at 18th level close to 19.

I ran the Night Below in 2e ages ago was a fun campaign. I also suggest the 2e's Dragon Mountain, Rod of Seven Parts, and Return to the Tomb of Horrors boxed sets if you can find them. Converted to 3.5 they can be fun. I have done a conversion and a major update to the deadliness of the Tomb of Horrors one and set it in the Realms I think thats what my players are going to do next  Smirk

I was in a D&D 3.5 campaign that ran almost every other week for about 2 and a half years.  There were 5 PCs that stayed through the entire campaign.  Fighter, Ranger, Barbarian, Cleric, and Druid.  There were also a sorcerer and a rogue that started at the beginning of the campaign.  The Rogue left after about 4 games, the sorcerer left after about a year.  There was another sorcerer that came in the middle and lasted for about 4 months.  Another Fighter came in the middle and stayed about 2 months.  And a Monk that came in about a year before the end of the campaign and stayed to the end.

Final tally(Some of the levels may be off):
  • Caliban 20-Barbarian (Rode off into the mists never to be seen again)
  • Caliban 12-Ranger 8-Shadowdancer (Rode off into the mists never to be seen again)
  • Human 20-Druid (sworn fealty to the new Darklord of Barovia)
  • Human 10-Monk 10-Drunken Master(I don't even remember if Drunken Master goes to 10, Fate unknown)
  • Human Litch 15-cleric 5-Master of Shadows (I know that's not actually legal, but the DM played fast and loose with the level adjustment rules, especially at the end... The new Darklord of Barovia)
  • Human 2-Werewolf 1-Mummy 10-Fighter 7-Beastmaster(Once again, fast and loose with the level adjustment rules... Working for the new Darklord of Barovia in an undisclosed capacity)

fun times.
