As we say in the most recent podcast: You are responsible for your own decisions.

Whatever you decide to do, it is your choice.  If you are mean to someone, it is your decision.  If you skip a game, that was what you decided to do.

And do your best to avoid "post hoc justification."  Decide what criteria of evaluation you will use, then use it.  Let me give you an example:

"I am kicking Jed out of the game." "Why" "He seems to have missed a bunch of sessions, so that's why."

You decided to kick Jed out and then fabricated an excuse.

"When the game first starts decide on how to handle things.  And tell the players.  Better yet, involve the players."
"tell them, if you miss three sessions you are out.

Stand by your reasoning.  Or rather make sure you can stand by it.  You kicked Jed out because he missed 3 games, would you do that to mary?  How fair is that to Jed

Be responsible.  Take responsibility.
If the players mess up a rule, is it worth mocking them or yelling at them?  Who is really at fault?  As a fellow player who knows the rules better shouldn't you help them out?
