Wow... is this still going on? I mean I've been gone a year. There's a new editon out. 2! Hilare  No, it's NOT still going on! This thread died (again) almost 3 weeks ago. Stop necroing it. Not very high-maintenance disciples, just need to make sure they have plenty of absolute havoc and water. |

Hi Welcome Though, speaking of the actual topic I have had the misfortune to run into several someones who not only honestly believes that a Fighter can defeat a Wizard, but that he can do so without optimization. The first's point was basically "Hey, I can beat mages if I always make all of my saves, and the mage is acting as if Confused what with the random spellcasting and rarely using any spells of significance... and not CdGing a sleeping Fighter instead of tickling him with pewpewpew." The second seemed to think that all classes were equal. He proceeds to get owned by a Wizard only using spells at least 3 lower than the maximum he can cast effortlessly. Then the Wizard does it again, using an entirely different tactic. Then he gets owned by a blasting caster 5 levels lower. Then he fields four of them at once, but they're all so weak that they can't kill or even half kill the singular Wizard when given free hits. They are promptly sealed in a death cage and disposed of properly, as befitting any high teens characters who literally do single digit damage... though some of them did up to a whopping 20.  Also, none of em had Heavy Fort despite being at the level where it's mandatory, and stat boosting items were rather rare. Overall, that line of dialogue was a hybrid between these two things:   |

Here are the four common wizard stances.  I haz COP, uh cone hat of hardyness an celerity. I Win! Hellbent on believing their wizard is superior they use the same suggested routine tactics submitted on the forums in a typical wizard vs fighter thread. While their wizard may be soild, their lack of player skills, creativity, and ingenuity tend to be far below even someone who has played a wizard before.  I have shapechange and the ability to shift into the stuff you kill hourly is made of win. Less often provoked outside of the Dire Turtle but still mentioned as an insult. Time Stop, buff up, Shapechange, die anyway. Damage can simply be dealt in too high of staggering numbers by people that go that route.  Diplomacy is a cross class skill for you and convincing deities to beat me up isn't fair. I cast Gate. Gate: 5,000XP, 9th level slot. Diplomacy: Free. Watching people attempt to say you cannot use one but use the other: Priceless.  My wizard can beat that submitted tactic. The largest problem by far. Wizard is always prepared in the exact manner to provide a counter to any tactic ever. That isn't a wizard vs fighter topic, it's anything vs Batman's batbelt and can plot items be beaten if the writer isn't around to empower it. *** The real answer of course is either one can win depending on far to many factors to detail out. Get over it.And yes, the wizard has a shit ton more options and ways to do something. Yes, the fighter sucks, get over that too.While you were arguing an Erudite took over the multiverse. So suck it. |

On a strange note, would anyone be put out if we had a post about people or events we can spare a thought for, or if its within their creed, a prayer for? Just a random thought, but ... hells I wouldn't have known about either Archangels daughter or Saeomons niece if I didn't happen to be on these threads.
Sounds fine to me. probably over on "Off-topic". might want to put a little disclaimer in the first post. This is the Min/Max board. We should be able to figure out a way to optimize the POWER OF PRAYER(TM) that doesn't involve "Pazuzu, Pazuzu, Pazuzu". |

TL;DR: PBMC made a thread asking about what the most abusive stuff was so it could be rebalanced, and made it look similar enough to a fighter vs. wizard thread on first glance that people joining in on the fifth page or later thought it was one.
