Well, it'd have Hardness 80 with a CL of 20th. Add 2 to that per two CLs higher. I think you could manage CL 27th, without even turning to any particular cheese just off Karma Bead, CL rings, and CL stone. Is consumptive field available to Wizards? If it isn't you can just UMD it to get it higher. Even without it though, Hardness 86. Use Stone Dragon or don't bother.
I don't want to argue that the Wizard will WTFPWN a fighter, but wouldn't Hardness (the spell) and greater magic vestment not work in an antimagic field? Hardness has a duration of permanent, which means it can be surpressed and dispelled, magic vestment has a duration as well. I don't now where magic treatment is from, so I can't comment on it. I mean worst case he has to have a three pound hat, it's just good to know this type of stuff before hand.

Or, you know, invoke magic -> dimension door.
I like the "hat" because it is entirely core, and so will work in any game.

For medium creatures, what you can have instead is a conical hat (I'm sure everyone will agree that the correct shape for a wizard's hat is a cone).
Vcone = A/3 h
VHollowCone = A/3 h - A/3 (h-x) , where x is the vertical thickness, since the volume of the frustum you get should be equivalent to that of a hollow cone.
As calculated earlier, we have a 8.163 ft3 volume of adamantine to work with. We want the radius at 6 feet to be at least 1 foot (so you can stand upright in your unshrunk hat, no problems. Furthermore, let's have the area of the base be equal to 25 square feet (equivalent to a 5x5 square), so for future reference R = 2.8 ft.
8.163 ft * 3 /25 = x x = 11.75 inches.
The angle of the cone depends upon our height. Let's make it, oh, 8 feet. That makes it nice and pointy.
T = x*r/h
11.75 inches *2.8/8 = 4 inches
This has three advantages.
First: the idea of a wizard's pointy hat expanding to protect him is something that wouldn't be out of place in the classic portrayal of wizards. And wearing a pointy hat isn't exactly suspicious for a wizard. Since shrink item can turn it into a "clothlike composition", it's perfect.
Second: It works for medium creatures
Third: A leap attacking fighter is now jumping onto an eight-foot-long spike.

My balancing 3.5 compendiumElemental mage test gameQuotesIt is a shame stupidity isn't painful. Totally true. Historians believe that most past civilizations would have endured for centuries longer if they had successfully determined Batman's alignment. Why are so many posts on the board the equivalent of " Dear Dr. Crotch, I keep punching myself in the crotch, and my groin hurts... what should I do? How can I make my groin stop hurting?" I suggest carving "Don't be a dick" into him with a knife. A dull, rusty knife. A dull, rusty, bent, flaming knife. Fluffy: It's over Steve! I've got the high ground! Steve: You underestimate my power! Fluffy: Don't try it, Steve! Steve: *charges* Fluffy: *three critical strikes* Steve: **** I don't even stat out commoners. Commoner = corpse that just isn't a zombie. Yet. When I think "Old Testament Boots of Peace" I think of a paladin curb-stomping an orc and screaming "Your death brings peace to this land!" Buy a small country. Or Pelor. Both are good investments.

the most effective optimization is the one you can actually get away with. (A group of nerds are called a murder because like crows we are anti-social, like shiny things, and often squack at each other over nothing for hours) I often have to remind people not to underrate divination. The ability to effectively metagame without actually metagaming beats the ability to set things on fire more times than not.

I don't want to argue that the Wizard will WTFPWN a fighter, but wouldn't Hardness (the spell) and greater magic vestment not work in an antimagic field? Hardness has a duration of permanent, which means it can be surpressed and dispelled, magic vestment has a duration as well. Hardness is Instantaneous. And personally, I'd use a Dwarvencraft Obdurium hat, for a base hardness of 32. If you can land a CL 20 Hardness on it, that's a hardness of 42 in an antimagic field. It's 84 outside with Augment Object (which has a duration of 1 day/level, and so will not function in an AMF). You cannot, however, use a Bead of Karma with a Wizard (Divine only) and Consumptive Field is Divine only too, though the latter may be available with Arcane Disciple. JaronK

If I remember correctly, bead of karma only requires you to cast a single divine spell to activate....
and since we are using arcane disciple anyways, doesn't that allow the occasional divine spell?
And if not that, a single rank in UMD combined with "aid another" spam, and/or some handy +skill check spells, and maybe the 50gp investment of a mwk tool.... shouldn't be too hard to cast a lvl 1 divine spell off of a 25gp scroll. hell, maybe we could just borrow a charge of the clerics cure wand? either way, meeting that requirement shouldn't be all that difficult.

Can't aid another on umd, I'm afraid. Not sure if the scroll really counts, either (YMMV). Still, the DC 21 check for emulate class feature isn't unattainable, just somewhat irritating. If we're a high enough level, we get nice things like moment of prescience which make it trivial, otherwise we have to muck around with +2 from masterwork items here and +10 from wieldskill there...

You cannot, however, use a Bead of Karma with a Wizard (Divine only) UMD. Exactly. The wording is cast a divine spell, and you gain the ability to activate this for +4 CL. Not +4 divine CL, just +4 CL. It works for anyone and everyone that can just use a spell off their list or make the necessary UMD check.

Basically in threads like this we deal with the tree and lose the forest.
Heh. Fighter with the Titan Bloodline, could wield the Tree. Wizard could stand outside of range, burn down the forest, turn the Tree into a snake, have the snake grapple the Fighter's boots. On the same round ... laugh hysterically. Fighter then tries to figure out whether the Snake/Tree is gonna attack at all, and then slips ala a Grease spell, getting out of his boots. Wizard casts a Divination spell on Orcus, while the Fighter tries to stand up. "Hey, Orcus is pissed at me, too now. You gonna pick up another Tree?" vs.

Gonna have to agree with Sunic on that one.... WTF mate?
I think there was a joke in that, but could you please explain it to those of us who couldn't play 20-questions with contact other plane? or is that the result of failing the ability check?
